Preparations of a Meecio
Singh looked over his small stash of Mar, scratching at his back with the pointed stick that he had as his only weapon which wasn't all that good a weapon when it came down to it. It did have its uses mind you but fighting wasn't one of them... lets see... it was good to scratch his back, to poke at things to make sure they were dead, to poke at things to make sure they weren't dead, to spear fish out of the water though that was hard to do, and to chase away snakes! He gave a shudder of revulsion, stomping his hooves as he thought about them. Snakes! They were the absolute worst! What were the the higher powers when they made a worm, covered it in scales, gave it those slitted and angry looking eyes, sharp teeth, and no sense of humor? He stomped a few more times before he got his mind back under control again. Alright... so he had a total of ten Mar... he was going shopping! No hero could save the world from all the evils in it if all they had to fight back the evil was a sharpened stick.
He hurried along towards where the shops were located, mind whirling as he tried to deciding on what exactly it was that he wanted. He was in need of weapons, real weapons though he would keep his stick since it still had its uses he thought to himself. His hooves gave a click, click, click sound as he ran along, sliding to a stop in front of the first shop, sniffing at the air. The blacksmith's place had a very distinct odor he thought to himself, ears twitching as he went inside and was looking over the prices of the items laid out. He checked prices, checked what he had, rechecked prices before picking up two items and brought them to the counter. The man behind it seemed more then happy enough to have him pay and be on his way and Singh was more then happy to do just that. The big male was a bit scary he thought, giving him one quick glance when he stopped at the door to the shop before bolting when Zahar's glance turned his way. Not the person who's attention he wanted in the least!
He looked happily over his two purchases, the dagger would be useful for cutting up his meat, skinning things, cutting branches for when he needed new sticks, and various other tasks a sharp blade would excel at. Then there was the sling, oh the wonderful, wonderful sling! How could any one fault a weapon whose ammunition was literally laying around on the ground no matter where you went? Hooray for a weapon that required only rocks to make it useful! He would have to make note to gather a bunch of rocks to toss in his pouch before he went out adventuring he thought to himself.
He paused in front of the store that was run by one called Denali, he peeked inside but didn't find himself brave enough to go in this day. He would wait until he had a bit more to spend before he even considered going into her shop as he didn't want to upset a woman that rumor said was crazy by not having enough Mar to buy her wares. Maybe later...
He trotted along to the last of the shops that he wanted to visit, the one that was run by a woman called Lamya who he couldn't help but like because she was Meecio, female, and an adult thusly rather good looking in his eyes. He gave a little purring sound as he peeked into her shop. He brushed himself off, straightened his hair, then stepped inside wanting to make himself presentable for the pretty, older woman.
He started to circle through the shop much like a prowling cat checking out everything that she had for sale. He picked up a flint and steel deciding that it would be easier to use them then trying to beat rocks or sticks together to make fire, made the most delight sound seeing a fishing pole for sale that even came with hooks! He got one of them as it would be easier then fishing with his stick, then moved on. The last of his purchases he saw to be one of the most important, a rope. It had a million and one uses and there was ten feet worth of it for only one Mar! He got it and headed up to where Lamya was standing, laying the stuff on the counter and dug into his pocket to get his money out.
"I'm gonna be a hero." He told her, trying to sound his most confident, his ears turning forward and he gave her his best smile, "When I slay my first dragon I will bring you back some treasure from its horde." He bet if he brought her back a diamond the size of her head she would fall for him! She would be his damsel like in all of those stories he thought to himself, getting his change from his purchases and stuffed it back into his pocket. He put his fishing hooks in his pouch along with the flint and steel, wrapped the rope around his waist, then picked up his fishing pole, "Thanks!"
He turned and hurried out of the store, his heart racing in an excited way. It was both because he'd just gone shopping and was ready for his first adventure and because he had just talked to the most pretty Meecio he had ever seen in all of his life! Now to head back to his 'lair' so that he could prepare himself. He had to get ready for his first venture out into the world, prepare for whatever foes were going to stand in between him and the rank of hero and Lamya's knight!

Waking Up At Karan's Place
Singh was laying in darkness, eyes closed and his chest was rising and falling rapidly as he relived what had to be the most embaressing moment of his life, where he lost in close combat against a creature that he shouldn't have lost too. A rat... his small form gave a shiver over the thought, he would swear he could even smell the rat... it was here wasn't it? Coming closer and closer, planning on eating him up now that he had fallen victim to its many bites and with it he was sure would come all of his disgusting rat friends... rats... he was certain now that he hated them more then hated snakes. Snakes were only gross because they had no legs and angry eyes, rats were gross because they were mean and liked to chew on Meecio. He could sense as something came towards him, something large, a massive rat maybe even the KING of the Rat Kingdom! He sat up, hand grasping for nonexsistant weapons and then a hand caught hold of his wrist.
"Don't push yourself so hard, your still a bit weak from blood loss." It was a kindly voice, one he knew from somewhere.
It took a moment before it clicked in his mind, "Wha...? Karan?" He murmured.
There was a flickering of light as the tall, dark haired Meecio lit a torch and allowed himself to be seen by the smaller, younger Singh, "Yes, Karan. Who else would follow you while you wandered off into Eforùnu Forest without so much as telling anyone where you were going. Your lucky I thought to follow too, you were about to become lunch of a clan of hungry rats! Don't you ever... Singh?" The lecture stopped before it started as the older Meecio watched in surprise as tears first flooded and then fell from the green eyes of the younger of his clansman's eyes.
"I... I was... beat. I was beat by a Rat, Karan!" He sniffled, hands lifting up to scrub at his face as he tried to get the tears to stop but was unable to get his emotions to abide by what he felt a hero should or shouldn't be doing, "I lost to a rat, I couldn't even hit it no matter how hard I tried! Why? Heroes aren't supposed to lose like that!"
Karan gave a bit of a sigh, reaching hand out to ruffle the boy's hair gently between his budding horns, "You can't keep thinking in such terms. Heroes all start somewhere, every one of them had problems somewhere and its what helps them to grow stronger. If it were so easy to become a Hero don't you think that there would be so many more of them in the world?"
"S-So... so even though I lost... even though I lost I can still be a Hero?" Singh dared to asked of the older Meecio, as if he were afraid that because of his loss to the rat that the path of a Hero had been taken away from him.
"Of course! Well... so long as your more careful. I won't be able to be there for you every time, next time what if nobody is there to chase away the bad things and save you? I'd hate to hear about how you were killed by a butterfly or a bird or something." He complained, waving a hand at the boy.
Singh's fur stood up a bit at that, "H-Hey! Butterfly... who said I would lose to a butterfly?! Karan that isn't funny!" The young Meecio cried, pushing up to his feet so that he could pounce on the other Meecio, giving a mock growl as he did so. A butterfly indeed! The next time he went out and fought he would... he paused in his attack, sighing and plopped down next to his friend, clinging onto his arm tightly, "I... I'm scared, what if nobody is there next time?"
Karan patted the boy on the head, "There is no weakness in retreat Singh, you don't need to make every little run in with every little animal a life or death duel. You have two feet, learn to use them for what they are good for. Running away." He said, his tone very serious now. He'd nearly had a heart attack when he'd finally caught up to where his young friend had wandered off to only to find that he was about to become lunch. While he would rather see Singh never leave his sight again the little Meecio would suffer for that, he wanted to be a Hero and caging him up would only break his spirit.
"Running... but..." Singh started with what would be his normal protest about what a Hero should or shouldn't do but a shake of Karan's head silenced him.
"You heard what I said, I don't know what I would do if I heard that something happened to you. I would be devistated. Your the closest that I have to family Singh."
Singh gave a smile, eyes closing and he started to purr as he leaned his head against Karan's arm, "Yeah, same for me. Your like the big brother that every little kid wants." He said, ears flicking back and forth in a delighted fashion.
"How about you lay back down Singh, get a bit more rest to recover from your wounds and maybe when you wake up we will go out and get some breakfast." Karan suggested, "How does that sound?"
"That sounds great, I think we should go fishing. Did I tell you I bought myself a fishing pole?" Singh asked as he crawled back to the pallet that Karan had set up for him, scooting under the warm blanket.
"I saw, you almost got some nice new weapons and some rope." He said with a laugh, "Though what you need rope for..."
"Just in case, never know what is around the corner." Singh said with a yawn, rolling onto his side and let his eyes close, "Gotta have rope just in case."
There was a soft snorting coming from the young Meecio as he dozed off, his sleep better and more restful now that he knew he was safely back with Karan. Karan wouldn't let the rats get him and knowing this he didn't dream of the vermin again that night.

Time for Breakfast
Singh was up before the sun was the next day and abandon his bed to kneel at the foot of the one that Karan was sleeping in, starring at his friend as he slept as if he thought it would make him wake up faster. He was up and he was feeling a lot better after the care he received from his friend. His hands started to paw at the blankets that the older Meecio was laying under, a purring sound coming from his throat, "Karan?" He said in a loud whisper, "Karan? Come on! You said we would go and fish!"
Karan gave a low, grumbling sound and rolled over onto his side in an attempt to get the boy to give up and let him sleep a bit longer.
The blond Meecio started to giggle in amusement, bouncing forward on all fours towards his friend and his ears started to flick forwards and backward, "Karan? Come on! Wakey, wakey!" He said, poucning and caught hold of one of the older Meecio's ears with his teeth and tugged at it.
There was a growling sound from the one that he was chewing on, lifting an arm up and wrapped it around the younger Meecio and pinned him down on the bed, "Mmm... to early, there isn't even any sun yet." Was the complaint from the one that was pinning him down, "Fish soon, sleep first." He grumbled though he knew that it would be difficult at best to talk to the younger Meecio out of being awake so early in the day. Singh had been asleep most of yesterday aside from when they had their talk so of course the young Meecio was going to be awake and excited now that he was feeling better.
Singh gave a grumbling sound, flailing a bit as he tried to free himself from the hold of the older Meecio's grasp, "Aww... come on! I wanna go fishing! I'm hungry." He said when he was finally able to escape from Karan's grasp, sitting up next to him and lifting his hands to fix his mop of blond hair. He gazed down at his friend and started to shake him and he was rewarded with the older Meecio finally giving up and sitting up.
"Fine, fine I'm awake Singh." He said, stretching out all over and pushed up to his hooves, "Come on then, lets go get ready and we will head out to find us a good fishing spot, we can spend the day there." He was all for keeping a close watch on the younger boy just to make sure that he is alright. The wounds he'd gotten weren't very good, deep bites on his legs and hand, it was the boy's spirit he worried over. He might be acting well now but what would happen the next time the boy ran across a rat? They were disgusting creatures, dirty and always skulking about in the shadows and now due to the loss Singh would have reason to fear them.
"Alright! I will get my..." Singh looked around as he rose to his feet, "Umm... where are my things?" He asked after making a couple of confused circles around the hut but didn't even seem to see where they were.
Karan gave a motion with his hand towards, chuckling as the boy ran passed where the the small pile of items was sitting at least three times. Given direction Singh walked over to where his own fishing pole was sitting along with everything else he had bought from the various shops, "You get your things together while I change clothes and then we will head out." He said as he went to fetch some day clothing, pulling it on and his own pole and hooks, "We will need to dig up some worms for bait just so you know, I have none on hand."
Singh gave a nod of his head, eyes shining, "Worms aren't to bad, at least they are useful." He said to his friend. The young Meecio much preferred worms in comparison to other sorts of belly crawlers and vermin. He put his pouch in place around his waist and tied it into place, put his dagger at one side, his sling at the other, then wrapped his rope around himself like a sash. When he made sure that everything was in place and secure he trotted over to Karan, grabbing hold of one of his hand and tugged on it, "Are you ready?" He asked in an excited voice, ears turning forward.
Karan laughed and gave a nod, taking his friend's hand and led the way from his hut, "Yes I am all ready so how about we get going? Their are a whole lake full of various, tasty fish that are waiting for us to come and catch them." He said, licking his lips as he thought about it. Fish made the best breakfast and he didn't have them nearly enough, more often was all of the stuff he grew in his little garden or could catch in traps.
"Mmmm, I wanna eat a whole ton of them all by myself! I'm so hungry!" Singh said in a sing song sort of way, tugging on Karan as if he were wanting to get him to move that much faster, as if the fish were going to flop their way out of the lake and migrate if they were to slow. The older Meecio gave a laugh as he allowed himself to be tugged along a bit faster.
"Yay! Fish!" Singh said happily, all but dancing the rest of the way to lake.
