Singh was wandering through what had to be the most beautiful forest that he'd ever seen. He was spending to much time though looking up at the branches of the trees though, watching the way the leaves fluttered above him and the way only the tiniest amounts of sunlight got through instead of watching where he was going. It was because of this that he'd nearly stepped on what would be his first opponent before he had even noticed it was there.
His superior speed was all that allowed him to react accordingly and he grabbed for his dagger. He wasn't as good with it as he was with his sling but the rat was far to close for him to use the ranged weapon. He rushed forward, making a swift attack at the rat!

There was a swishing sound as the Meecio made his first attack... and missed badly. The rat starred up at him and there were a moment where it almost looked as if the vermin were laughing at him, such a funny attack it seemed to say... and then lunged for him. While it may have found the miss amusing it didn't find the fact that it was being attacked funny in the least. He would show this boy who was boss of the forest!

The Meecio gave a sound of surprise when he missed, heroes weren't supposed to miss! Then another sound escaped him as the rat attacked, he did his best to try to dodged, flailed, stumbled, and he was just a step faster. He felt sharp, pointy rat teeth graze his leg just below the knee but it was just fur it got to bite onto. His eyes went wide as he lost some hair and he struck forward with his dagger in an attempt to get the rat to let go!

Despite the close range the Meecio had missed again, no doubt the fear assailing him had made it hard to concentrate? He would tell everyone it was something getting in his line of site and not the fact that there were tears in his eyes from the fear that blinded him. Taking advantage of the fact that the Meecio seemed disorientated the Rat drew back to bite down again...

Another bite and real pain this time, and the Meecio made a third attempt at striking out at the rat. If he didn't do something soon he was going to be defeated his first time out and in his first battle! He'd never live that down and never be a real hero! He was suddenly cursing himself for not being brave enough to go into the shop to buy potions...

The Rat was pleased, it was winning and it was impossible to hit! It needed only to get a few more bites in and it and its friends would be eating well that night! It gave a rat like chuckle as it prepared to bite again.

Singh was able to dodge this time, giving a hissing sound from between his teeth as the pain emanated from the bite he'd already received. He shook his head to try to clear the pain from his mind and the tears from his vision and attacked, trying to take out his attack quickly.

Singh dodged out of the way of the rat's next attack, flapping his arms and did his best to keep from stumbling. This would teach him to walk around with his heads in the clouds he thought to himself... one painful bite, some missing hair, and far to many misses with his dagger.
Stupid dagger it was all its fault! Easier to blame his weapon then his own lack of training...

The rat felt the swish of the weapon this time, barely able to dodge out of the way and it gave an angry sort of sound as it once more tried to bite at the Meecio boy. This was getting irritating, this battle would have to end soon!

The Meecio boy gave a loud cry as the rat's next attempt didn't miss, landing home and now he had two deep bites in one of his legs causing him to nearly fall forward. This wasn't going at all as he'd planned he thought to himself drawing back with his dagger once more to try to stab at his opponent.
