    In the beginning of Gaia’s creation, there had been just the sky, the spirits, and the planet. The planet, however, seemed more like a rock floating in space than a place for people, plants and animals, and its spirit grew heavy with loneliness. It began to weep and flood itself with saltwater until it almost destroyed its chances of hosting life. It shook, and winds howled while bits and pieces of tiny islands that used to be mountains began to crack and crumble. Loneliness seemed to be killing the planet, and the spirits that cared for and created it grew afraid that their planet’s spirit would die from misery. They gathered in the sky to find a solution to the problem.

    It seemed blatant that the little planet needed something to speak with it and soothe its feelings, something that could calm it down and give it companions. One of the spirits suggested that they move from the sky to the planet and live there, but the idea had been instantly shot down. No one wanted to live on an globe with extreme temperatures and landscapes, the sky seemed much more peaceful. Then, another spirit suggested they take a piece of their being and send it down to the planet where it would communicate with the globe. The idea had been opposed as well, the planet had become dangerous, a fragile spirit piece could easily be annihilated, it would need protection from the elements. Several of the spirits argued that they could ask the planet for something to protect a fragment of themselves and the earth’s spirit, overhearing, responded with a “yes.”

    They all waited a while, but finally creatures known as “Gaians” or “humans” began to appear and being told that these would be the guardians for the fragments of the spirits, the spirits began to try and figure out which part of themselves they should send down to calm the planet. It needed to be something both the fragment and the Gaian shared, so the two could come together in unity, and one day as the spirits watched the planet, they took note of several acts of kindness. The spirits wondered if they had what it took to perform these acts, and as they searched deep inside their being to find the answer. Instead, they managed to find something soft and pulsating, and as they pulled it out in front of them, they realized what it was.

    A heart.

    It did not at all resemble that of a human’s, though. It appeared as a shining orb of light, but each spirit’s heart beat differently. Some made sounds, others flew across the sky, others sparkled, they were all different. However, some of these hearts decided to stay in the sky until their ideal guardian came showed themselves, but most traveled to the land deemed “Gaia” with or without a guardian in order to soothe it.

    Lately though, more of these hearts have been attaching to humans, it appears as though something threatens the lives of these beings, though the spirits aren’t sure what. They know that the chances of their hearts, or recently named “aelyn,” surviving are greater if bonded to a human. However, the bond between the aelyn and a human is nearly unbreakable, if something harms the heart beyond repair, the spirit will die and the guardian will suffer terribly.

    The spirits can only hope.

    • These are RP HEAVY: If you don’t roleplay or journal, your Aelyn won’t grow. Also, after three months of no posting with a warning. Your Aelyn may be taken away.
    • Aelyn may have babies: Just don't take it past PG-13.
    • TLB may take her time: We all have lives, try to refrain from bugging TLB about growths.

    S T A G E S

    An Aelyn has seven stages, they start out as pures, which is the pure spirit energy that makes up a spirit’s heart. If desired, they can even become spirits themselves and replace the spirit they originally came from. A quest entry does not count as a journal entry, and at least two quest entries must be made per stage. You must make all the requirements if you want your Aelyn to grow.

    -The Pure-

    A floating orb of light that is the heart of a spirit. Each of these is different. Some can zoom around at crazy speeds, some can sparkle or shimmer, some feel cold to touch, every single one has different traits.

    -The Baby (Two Journal Entries during Pure Stage)-

    After some time, a pure will leave a baby in its place. This happens as the Aelyn adapts to the bond with the guardian. These are like normal babies, but most tend to be more collicky than other infants. They have no memory of their past as an Aelyn or anything to do with it.

    -The Child (Three Journal Entries and One RP during Baby Stage)-

    Around this age, the Aelyn tend to develop their own personalities and discover their magical traits. They also have their first contact with the spirit they originated from.

    -The Teen (Five Journal Entries and Three RPs during Child Stage)-

    Angst, powerful magic, romance and hormones, what more could you ask for? The Aelyn receives more spirit contact and control of their abilities during this time.

    -The Youth (Seven Journal Entries and Five RPs during Teen Stage)-

    Now is really the time to choose for the Aelyn. They are at the peak of their life and by having the most control and power now, they can choose to reunite with their spirit. However, while this would grant them immense power and possibly immortality, they would not be able to return to their guardian or keep their mortal form. In fact, they would be in the process of becoming a spirit, so they would resemble their spirit more and more while the spirit itself begins to slowly fade away.

    -The Adult (Nine Journal Entries and Seven RPs during Youth Stage)-

    The adult Aelyn has mastered their magic and as a result, receive one free item from the shop. They spend more time on their own now, and less with their guardian. They may choose to have children as long as it is with someone at least of the teenager stage.

    Spirit (Ten Journal Entries and Ten RPs during Adult Stage along with Judgement)

    When an Aelyn becomes a youth, they may choose to reunite with their spirit. If they do so, they will take the form of their spirit as time goes on and acquire several new abilities and powers, a common one being immortality. However, they will lose their mortal form and connections to the guardian’s heart will be severed, causing immense pain to the Gaian. The spirit has the ability to erase their former guardian's memory immidiately after connection is lost so the guardian will not seek revenge for the pain.

    TLB will judge if an adult is ready to become a spirit.

    F A I R I E S

    Fairies are the Aelyn who decided to spend time with the spirits and wait for their ideal guardian rather than travel to Gaia right away. Because spend more time in the spirit realm, they tend to master magic easily and grow wings. These beings also tend to be more intelligent and fragile than normal Aelyn.

    [T H E - P R E S E N T]

    The Aelyn still exist, the float around Gaia making sure the planet stays calm and tranquile. However, something seems to threaten their life style, because more are attaching to humans for protection. Some Aelyn are disappearing altogether, whether or not they are killed is unknown.

    A strange, shy girl named Andi has also been seen recently with these Aelyn. Though she is not one herself, she seems to be able to speak with them and has knowledge of where they come from and the story behind them. She also has a strange power to give people visions and connect them to the spirit world so they can contact the spirits themselves.

    She owns a strange, antique shop Vee helps her run known as "Buried Treasure." Aelyn tend to gather there.

    If my Aelyn wants to breed, how come it has to lose half it's heart?

    Because an Aelyn is made from the heart of a spirit. Instead of ripping the mother/father's entire heart out, causing them to suffer from pain worse than death, and making an aelyn from that, the parents both give up half their heart so they can share the pain.

    When two Aelyn love each other very much...

    Kidding. Just kidding.

    The cost of having an Aelyn baby is 30,000 gold from each owner of the couple. You need to RP up to the mother's pregnancy, meaning your two Aelyn must roleplay dating, falling in love, seeing each other and stuff (basically everything except the sex because you'll get in huge trouble with Gaia if you do). The kid may just be a happy accident. Who knows?

    Also, please note, TLB decides what the baby looks like. The parents decide the gender. As the baby grows, however, the guardian can slowly shift the baby's appearance to how they want it to look.

    One of the parents can be a teen, but they must almost be done with the stage (finished all required posts, starting quest posts). However, the other parent must be at least a youth.

    Please understand, when the two Aelyn decide to have a baby, it will not be a pure. It will be a baby and the mother will birth it like a normal person would. However, the baby is an Aelyn, meaning it needs to be the heart of a spirit. Because we do not want one parent to suffer from having their heart ripped out, both parents will lose half their hearts to form a new heart, which will make up the baby. This affects the parents IC, they will lose the majority of their powers and emotion.

    The baby will also have a chance at being a spirit. For example, if the Aelyn of Milk and the Aelyn of Honey get together, guess what your baby will be the heart of?

    Milk and Honey.

    When the baby becomes a spirit, however, it will take a new form unlike any other spirit's.


    C O N G R A T S


    You may not keep your Aelyn's children. They must be given to someone else because guardians only have one heart to share, and they're sharing it with their own Aelyn, not the baby. Before the birth of the baby, both parents must select one person they want to give their upcoming child to. They must make the person aware of this before the birth and then have the person send me the PM, post, etc. handing over the child to them.

    After all of this, the parents must roleplay a meeting with the new guardian explaining everything that needs explaining. The guardian may choose not to accept the baby at this time, but eventually, through roleplay, they will.


    [F A I R Y - B A B I E S?]


    Fairy-ness is a recessive gene. If both parents have fairy-blood in them, the baby will be a full-fledged fairy. However, if only one of the parents has the fairy gene, their child will be a carrier for it. The child also may experience a sign of fairy-ness as well, for example, they may have strange colored eyes or a skill for magic.
