Um, wow, it's been so long since I was here O_O
Life has been super busy for me, and I've got a lot on my plate, both academically and other interest-wise. Sorry I can't contact you all individually, but it looks like I'll have to close up shop. I'm sorry for everything I've left unfinished.

Well, I fail hardcore. I totally wasn't expecting college to be this hard, and I have seriously neglected my duties as a shop owner. Thus, this shop will be on hiatus until next summer, at which point I will judge the contest entries, get the last few Pokémon out, and refund any and all unusable items. Thank you for your patience.

Welcome to the Pokémon Center! This is a breedable/changeable
pet shop that is fairly unique in the pets it sells: Pokémon!
Many different kinds of Pokémon will be available, with all of
your old favorites and maybe even a new face or two.

The Pokémon in this shop are likely to be more expensive than
other breedables, because since each Pokémon is different,
they had to be drawn individually instead of using a template.
With over 400 Pokémon, that is a lot to draw!

I try to make sure you are receiving quality for your money,
however, so I have added some features that do not appear
in the games.

For instance, I have given the legendary Pokémon genders, and
allowed them to breed. Also, with every breeding, there is a
possibility that the baby will be a hybrid between the two parents!

General Terminology

If you are confused by a term used in this shop, please ask and I will list it here.

Pokémon: Creatures that resemble animals that change by "evolving." People called Trainers befriend them and fight other Trainers in battles.

Evolution: When your Pokémon grows a stage. Certain Pokémon evolve more than others

D#: D=Dice and the # is the sides of the dice. So a D8 would be a single, eight sided dice. If you were told to roll one D8, you would roll one eight sided dice.

ID: The Certificate/Cert that your Pokémon comes on. It shows your Pokémon's stats, along with it's nickname, trainer, and several other details.

RP: Stands for Role Play. Where people play the part of a character and write a story with a group of others.

Role Play Rules

Always be courteous to other Trainers.

If you are confused, please read through this section.

If you have a question and don't see the answer here, please post your question in the thread.

General

Q: What is the ordering procedure?
A: It depends on the event. Please read the instructions in each post.

Q: How do I get a Pokémon?
A:
1. The Lab sells starter Pokémon to people who do not own one already, and offers discounts to those who do not own a Pokémon. These events will happen once a month, and will be announced beforehand. All starters will be sold as flatsales, but the type of flatsale will vary (flaffle, RP, speed, etc.)

2. The Tall Grass event has no set schedule, and will happen at the discretion of the owner. This event is announced an hour before-hand, and Trainers may sign up to participate.

3. Anything could happen at the Special Events booth! Flatsales, auctions, raffles, you name it! Depending on the event, it may or may not be announced beforehand.

4. Sometimes rare Pokémon will become available in the "Rare Sightings" post. Although the details differ, these events will normally be announced in advance.

5. The Day Care Center sometimes sells eggs. These events could be any kind of flatsale, and may or may not be announced.

Remember to add the-Pokémon-Center to your friends list to be PMed any announcements!

Q: How much do they cost?
A: Pokémon and eggs obtained through Flat Sales will cost around 8,000g. Pokémon that are rarer or have more evolutionary stages will be more expensive, while those more common or with less evolutions will be less expensive.

Sometimes there will be special events allowing Trainers to obtain Pokémon in other ways.

Q: Are the Pokémon RP required?
A: No, but in order to breed your Pokémon and equip certain items, you must RP your Pokémon to gain levels.

Q: Are the Pokemon sent code or pickup?
A: Sent code.

Q: How do Pokémon evolve?
A: Most Pokémon evolve after a period of time. However, this could be as long as several months, so the fastest way to evolve your Pokémon is to battle with it to level it up. Other Pokémon, however, require special items from the Pokémart in order to evolve.

Q: Where can I get more information on Pokémon?
A: Try Serebii.net. They've got pretty much all you ever wanted to know about Pokémon. 3nodding

Q: Will you take away my Pokémon for lack of activity?
A: Absolutely not! Once you've purchased it, it's yours for keeps. Taking it away would be like stealing, and I'm not Team Rocket! D:<

Q: Will custom Pokémon be available?
A: Well, I'm seriously considering this. I'm really trying to keep the feel of the games, where no "custom" Pokémon exist. However, I understand that there is a great appeal to custom Pokémon and I would like to make people happy.

Therefore, sometime in the future, I will be selling custom Pokémon, although for a very high price, to prevent too many being purchased.

Q: Can I bribe you to get a Pokémon/Get a Pokémon sooner?
A: Check the Customs section on page 2 8D

Q: Can I do a pet trade with you?
A: Not at the moment. Thanks for asking, though =D

Q: If I have a question or comment, how can I contact you?
A: Feel free to PM the shop mule, the-Pokémon-Center. I don't bite, really biggrin

Q: Can I substitute an item for gold when making a purchase?
A: I will consider it if the tektek.org value for the item is higher than the price.

Q: I asked you a question in the thread/PMed the mule with a question, so why haven't you responded yet?
A: Sometimes I can answer stuff right away, but if I'm working on anything it may take me a while to get to you. Please be patient, I will answer you eventually.

Q: Where did the experience bar on my Pokémon’s ID go?
A: Your Pokémon’s experience points are now recorded in your Pokedex. The strain of having to update the IDs after every battle became too much for the owner.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Lab

Q: Who can buy Pokémon from the lab?
A: Anyone who does not already own a starter.

Q: When will the next starters be available?
A: Starters are available every month, although the exact date may change from month to month.

Q: How will I know which of the starters will be available?
A: Kanto starters (Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle) and Johto starters (Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile) will be available during even numbered months
Hoenn starters (Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip) and Sinnoh starters (Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup) will be available during odd numbered months

Q: What do you mean by "newbies" and "veterans"?
A: Newbies are those people who do not own a Pokémon yet. Veterans may own one or several Pokémon, but they do not have any of the starters.

Q: Why are the prices so much cheaper if you're a newbie?
A: Think of it in terms of the game. When you first set out on your journey, the Professor gives you a starter. This is what the low price represents. However, (this is where the analogy kind of breaks down) if you wanted to obtain a starter later on, they are very rare and hard to get. This is what the higher price represents.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Breeding

Q: What Pokémon can breed?
A: All Pokémon are capable of breeding, with the exception of "Baby" Pokémon (Pichu, Igglybuff, Togepi, etc. ) Hybrids cannot breed. Your Pokémon must be at least level 2.

Q: Which Pokémon are compatible for breeding?
A: Any Pokémon that share a type can breed. Also, Pokémon in the four Egg Groups (Monster, Fairy, Earth, and Exotic) can breed with each other. A list of the eggs groups and Pokémon they contain can be found here.

Q: How do I breed Pokémon?
A: Find another Trainer who wants to breed Pokémon. RP is not required, but it is appreciated. Then go the Day Care Center, and have both Trainers fill out the form and send a trade with the correct amount of money. The two Pokémon will be listed in the Waiting for Eggs section.

Q: How much does it cost to breed Pokémon?
A: When two trainers want to breed their Pokémon, each sends a trade for 8,000g. If one of the trainers has a legendary Pokémon, that Trainer sends 15,000g instead of 8,000g.

If one Trainer wants to breed two of their own Pokémon, they send 1 trade for 16,000g. If they want to breed one of their regular Pokémon with one of their legendary Pokémon, they send 1 trade for 23,000g.

Q: When will the eggs arrive?
A: Normally they should appear within a few days, at which point the Trainers will have to decide which egg(s) they want.

Q: What will the babies look like when they hatch?
A: The babies will have an equal chance to take after both the mother and the father. There is a slight chance that the babies will be a hybrid between the mother and father.

Q: What would a hybrid look like? For example, what would happen if I bred a Parasect and Gloom and got a hybrid?
A: Hybrids will be of the basic form of each Pokémon, so the hybrid would be a Paras/Gloom?

Q: How do hybrid Pokémon evolve?
A: Pokémon will evolve as many times as the lowest of each half, and the highest level. For example, a Charmander/Ponyta will evolve into a Charmeleon/Rapidash at lvl 4 (when Ponyta evolves) instead of at lvl 2 (when Charmander evolves).

Q: Are there any restrictions on hybrid evolution?
A: The hybrid can only evolve as many times as the lesser evolving half. In the case of our Paras/Oddish hybrid, it would only be able to evolve once, to a Parasect/Gloom. If the hybrid is between two three-stage Pokémon, such as Charmander and Torchic, the hybrid would be able to evolve three times.

Q: But I really want a Gyrados/Dragonite! What can I do?
A: There may be a special item sometime in the future that will allow hybrid Pokémon limited to one evolution to evolve two times.

Q: Can I give my egg to someone else?
A: Yes, you may. The only restriction is that the eggs must be given when they first arrive. You may not have your egg IDed and then decide to give it to someone.

Q: Can hybrid Pokemon breed?
A: Yes. The offspring will either look like the hybrid parent or the normal parent. You cannot get a hybridized offspring from a hybrid parent.

Q: Will hybrids between the same types of Pokemon look the same?
A: No. Any two hybrid Pokemon with the same parent species will look different. The only way to obtain another identical hybrid is to breed the hybrid Pokemon.

Q: Can I pay someone to give me their Pokémon’s egg?
A: The payment trade for breeding must come from the owner of the Pokémon, but if you want to try to work something out, that's fine. Just remember, if someone winds up being cheated, The Pokémon Center and its owner will not be held responsible!

Battles

Q: How do battles work?
A: Battles are rather complicated, so I'll post the process in steps. Please remember to post your Pokémon’s ID and current HP in every post

1. Both Trainers post their Pokémon’s IDs. (Please use/create a thread in the guild to keep shop clutter to a minimum)

2. The Pokémon with the higher speed goes first. If both Pokémon have the same speed, roll a single 8-sided dice. Odd numbers one Pokémon goes first, evens the other Pokémon goes first (you decide which is which)

3. The Pokémon that goes first is the attacking Pokémon. Their trainer posts an attack and rolls one 8-sided dice.

4. The attacking Pokémon’s Trainer calculates the damage done either with a calculator or this spreadsheet (see next question for formula) and edits their post to add the damage done.

5. The other Trainer posts their Pokémon’s new HP and their attack, and rolls one 8-sided dice.

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5, switching roles each time, until one Pokémon is out of HP.

Q: How do I calculate damage done?
A: The formula is (Dice Roll Value)(Attacking Pokémon's Atk.)/(Defending Pokémon's Def.) Once you have an answer, ignore the decimal.
For those who are formula/mathematically challenged, please download this spreadsheet and use it to calculate damage.

Q: Do types affect Pokémon battles?
A: Unlike in the games, type plays no effect. In fact, the Pokémon have no official moves, so feel free to have your Pokémon use any attack you want, as long as it's a recognized move and is consistent with your Pokémon's type. Don't have your Charmeleon use Leaf Blade, for Pete’s sake! :O

Q: How does my Pokémon earn experience from battles?
A: By battling the shop Pokémon. The Pokémon that are available to fight and the experience they give are listed in the Stadium section. Please post the form in this thread if you want to battle and the shop Pokémon are available.

Q: Can I RP battles with other Trainers?
A: Feel free to, as long as you are polite and courteous. I may give the participants exp. points depending on the length of the battle and the quality of the role play

Q: Do natures have any affect?
A: They do, although it is slight. Click here for a list of Pokémon natures and their affects.

Q: Is there a limit to the number of times I can battle per day?
A: Not at the moment! Feel free to battle all you want ^^

Q: Can I have several battles going at once?
A: As long as you can keep track of them, it's fine. If you start posting in the wrong thread, you need to stop :XP:

Q: I really want to battle, but I don't have a Pokémon yet. What can I do?
A: Don't worry, a solution has arrived! Please check out this topic in the guild for information on Rental Pokémon!

Role Play

Q: Can I role play in the guild even if I don't have a Pokémon?
A: As long as you plan to try to buy a Pokémon, feel free to! Introduce yourself, and chill out with those who are lucky enough to own a Pokémon already. ^^

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Guild

Q: Do I have to own a Pokémon to join the guild?
A: Not at all! If you plan to purchase a Pokémon someday, you will be accepted.

Tall Grass

Q: Can I catch a Pokémon by buying Pokeballs and going to the Tall Grass even if I don't already own a Pokémon?
A: Yes, anyone may capture Pokémon in the Tall Grass, regardless of whether they own one already or not.

Q: How will I know if there is a Pokémon in the grass?
A: It will be announced one hour beforehand what Pokémon are going to appear. During that time, trainers may sign up to try and catch them. See the Tall Grass post for further instructions.

Q: Who can participate?
A: You may only participate if you have signed up within the hour before the event.

Q: What happens if someone signs up but has to leave before the event starts?
A: Then they will unfortunately have to miss the event. That's just how it goes sad
They can always try for the next one, though smile

Q: What do you mean by turns?
A: There are turns in the Tall Grass event just like there are turns in the game. When trying to capture a Pokémon, you can throw one Pokeball every turn. The same goes for this event.

Q: Will you wait for everyone to post before determining the results?
A: We will wait a reasonable amount of time, such as 10 minutes. If someone gives an explanation for their absence and an approximate time of return, we are prepared to wait longer. If someone simply disappears, they will be disqualified if everyone currently participating agrees. They will still receive any Pokémon they have already captured.

Pokedexes

Q: What are Pokedexes?
A: They're basically journals that record the Pokémon you own and their vital stats.

Q: How can I get one?
A: Please click here for info about how to obtain a Pokedex.

Q: Can I get one even though I don't have a Pokemon yet?
A: Please wait until you get a Pokémon to ask for a Pokedex. After all, their only purpose is to record information about your Pokémon! smile

Just keep an eye on the shop, and you're sure to have a Pokémon soon!

We humans live alongside Pokémon as friends. At times we play together, and at other times we work together. Some people use their Pokémon to battle and develop closer bonds with them. What do I do? I conduct research so that we may learn more about Pokémon. Your very own tale of grand adventure is about to unfold. On your journey, you will meet countless Pokémon and people. It's another one of those typical days with nothing to do. Being inside is boring, but outside is twice as bad, so you sit in front of the TV with your eyes slightly glazed over. Not really interested in the cooking show that's on, you pick up the remote and lazily flip through the channels. It's not like anything good will be on anyway.

But something does catch your attention.

"--That's very interesting, Ted. What did you say these creatures were called, again?"

"I believe that they're known as 'Pokémon,' Frank."

You sit up a little straighter, immediately all ears.

"Well, this is big news," the anchor, Frank, continues, "The admins of Gaia recently announced that there have been sightings of some of these creatures. As of yet, our reporters in the field do not know whether they are native to the world of Gaia, migrated here on their own from one of the neighboring regions, or were smuggled in by--"

You shut the TV off with a click. This would be some exciting news-if it were true. You're pretty sure, however, that the whole thing is only a cruel hoax. Continuing to watch the bulletin would just give you false hopes. Feeling too agitated to continue watching TV, you decide to take a walk to calm your nerves.

Deep in thought, you allow your feet to wander aimlessly, and are completely lost by the time you come to your senses. Not knowing where to go, you decide to follow the solitary path in front of you into the woods.

You have not gone far before you hear a noise in the undergrowth. Expecting the worst, you are relieved when a small bird flutters onto the path. When you look at the bird again, your heart starts to beat with excitement as you realize that this is no ordinary bird-it is a Pidgey! So the Pokémon sightings were real after all! The Pidgey coos softly at you and then takes off into the sky. Your eyes follow it until it is a mere speck on the horizon.

"Hello there!" A voice startles you and you look forward to see a young woman with pink hair in a nurse's uniform.

"I'm sorry to have startled you," she continues apologetically, "We don't get many visitors around here. My name is Nurse Joy. If you'll just follow me..."

She turns and begins walking down the path. Not knowing what else to do, you follow. A few yards further, you come to a large clearing. Many Pokémon are lying on the grass, accompanied by some people who you can only assume to be trainers.

Straight ahead is a large building with a red roof and "The Pokémon Center" written on the front in bold, white letters.

Nurse Joy turns to you and bows slightly.

"I hope you enjoy your stay!"

Pokémon will appear sporadically in this section, and you use Pokeballs bought in the Pokémart to catch them. An hour before Pokémon appear, there will be an update revealing what they will be. Once that happens, please use this form to sign up.

Sign me up to catch Pokémon!

Signed up Trainers. You may only participate in this event if you have signed up. There are 10 slots.

When the hour is up, the-Pokémon-center will announce the first "turn". At that point, everyone on the list may throw one Pokeball, and the results will be determined. All Trainers who have captured a Pokemon will have their Pokemon PMd to them after all the Pokemon have been captured. If two trainers have successfully captured the same Pokémon, only the first Trainer to roll will receive the Pokemon. The other Trainer's roll will not count.

Once the results have been figured, the signed up Trainers may buy more Pokeballs if they have run out. After that, the-Pokémon-Center will announce the second "turn", and the Trainers may roll once again.

The process will continue until all the Pokémon have been captured.

To throw a Pokeball, post the following form and roll one D100

Legendary
What? You can find Legendary Pokémon in the grass?! They do show up from time to time, but good luck getting them to stay in a Pokéball....

"Welcome!" an elderly man greets you as you approach a small house, "I, along with my wife, run the Day Care Center here. If you leave your Pokemon here with another Pokémon, you may find an egg when you return! Sometimes we also sell the eggs that we find here."

He turns around and hobbles inside, while you follow him.

Eggs

Sometimes eggs are found at the Day Care Center. No one knows what's inside; however, the coloring of the egg seems to be some sort of indicator...

No eggs have been found.

Only one of each egg will be sold. If you are not the first to post, I'm sorry, but you will not be able to purchase the egg.

When an egg is found, fill out the following form and post it in the thread. Once your egg hatches you will be able to name it.

Breeding

The Day Care Center is open.

Once your Pokémon has reached level 2, it will be able to breed with other Pokémon to produce an egg! There are two types of breedings: Regular and Special. A Regular breeding is between two fairly common Pokémon. A Special breeding involves a Legendary Pokémon. A Legendary Pokémon is any one-of-a-kind Pokémon that could not breed in the games. Some examples are Mewtwo, Lugia, and Rayquaza.

Egg Chart:

*The maximum one Trainer can receive per breeding is 2 eggs. If one Trainer breeds two of his Pokémon and three eggs are produced, one of the eggs must be sold back to the shop for 2,000g.

To arrange an breeding, both Trainers wishing to breed Pokémon must post the following form. If one Trainer wishes to breed two Pokémon, post the form only once. If an item is to be used, only one Trainer is required to posses the item.

Price:
Item(s) to be used:
Total Price:

Each Trainer must send a trade with their half of the money. Regular Pokémon cost 8k per Trainer, while Legendaries cost 15k per Trainer. In the case of a Special breeding, the Trainer of the Legendary gets to choose an egg first.

Here you can trade Pokémon with others!

Open

-To trade Pokemon, each Trainer posts the form below and then sends a trade for 2,000g.

Your name:
Pokemon to be traded:

Trading partner's name:
Pokemon to be received:

Pokemon may only be traded once, as too many trades will break their trust and make them suspicious and uncooperative.
