The Guild
Mid-afternoon, Middling. Usually, the place was a bit more alive with commerce, but as Persy looked out from her wide-brimmed hat to the emptyness she beheld, she crossed her arms and shook her head. Business wasn't exactly booming: in fact, with some thanks to Des, it was probably dead. As she was bound to the Earth for eighteen more years, Persy Floros (better known as Persephone) had no desire to live her life as a pauper, and if she had to fight it tooth, nail, and thorn, then she would. After all, who wouldn't love flowers when living in a semi-apocalyptic world in which little to no plant life survived. It was disgusting, but, alas, it was what she was handed, and when life gives you lemonades and you have no money to bribe, then it's what you get.
She'd been expecting the boy for quite some time: in fact, that was probably the reason she'd been so antsy as of late. He wasn't much of a boy, that was sure: still young, impressionable, with an adorable yellow mop of a hair-cut. However, it wasn't his hair that caught her eye: it was his gills, his webbed hands. He was marked by Poseidon, and even at such a young age, it was beginning to show. His expression was unclear: perhaps he was lost, or didn't know why he had come to this place. Persy remembered a time when she was so confused and naive, and the memories made her smile. As the boy sheepishly approached her, she moved to kneel down to his level, but seeing as how she was barely over five feet, grudgingly admitted that she didn't need to, and instead wiped her dirty hands with her apron to make it seem she was busy.
"Lady, you look weird."
It wasn't quite the introduction Persy had expected, but it was true: the tips of her mousy-brown hair were a bright green hue, and green veins creeped down her face and arms, not quite the texture to be a tattoo but far too strange to be anything else. "That's a fine way to greet someone, kid, did you think of that one yourself?" The fish-boy opened her mouth to answer, but she put a small finger to his lips to hush him. "Don't bother, I know why you're here. Hold on, I've got something for you in the back." And with that, the strange woman left the strange boy outside of her store, confused and alone. He blinked, and looked around, but couldn't find much else to do. After all, something had lured him here, and curiosity more than anything drove him to find out the purpose of his visit. He knew he hadn't thought of coming to this place on his own, but had no idea what was giving him such information. Maybe the lady would know?
After a minute, Persy reappeared from the inside, a single flower in hand. Clasped gently, she made it known with her body language that the token was of some significant value, and she held it out for the boy to grasp. Curiosly, he stared at the plant: although flowers were too much of a rarity for him to classify it as a water lily, he took note of the ring tied to the bottom of it's stem, made from two silver fish encircling eachother. He reached out for the flower and carefully grabbed it, examining it more closely before looking up at the woman with a big-eyed stare. "They're fish. Like my name."
Persy affectionately patted the boy on the head, then turned him back to the direction of the Harbor. "Welcome to Endgame, Fish. Don't get yourself killed, okay?"
