 Katrina Harper is a young girl born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. A minor case; she ended up with a slight learning disability and is physically a bit smaller than the other kids her age. As a result, Katrina has been held back, and while nine years old, she is in the third grade.
Katrina is the oldest in her class-- yet is in the lower quadrant grade-wise. She is teased for her age as well as for being “stupid”. While she feels that she is deserving of their taunts, Katrina lashes out when teased. At school, it is Katrina who is seen as a bully, despite the reality of the situation. Between being teased and her own self-loathing, Katrina spends extra time studying compared to her classmates, yet still remains in the bottom tier.
However, Katrina does not see her determination as any sort of merit-- no, she feels that she is simply stubborn. While she tries her hardest, she resents studying; she hates being inside at all. Not because of any sort of claustrophobia-- Katrina can sense the rocky situation in her family, and despite not being outright told, she is minutely aware that she is the source.
She is a b*****d child. Her birth was the unwanted result of a one night stand and too much to drink. Her mother, at the time a waitress in a bar, had not seen the signs of pregnancy until it was too late to do anything about the fetus. The father, after seven years of providing child support, suddenly disappeared.
And so, Katrina’s mother married for the first time. The man, having never met Katrina, was unaware that she had special needs. This led to problems between her mother and step-father. He resented Katrina for being “Extra Baggage” from his wife’s past life, while Katrina could tell she didn’t fit in in her new family’s sphere of existence.
Thus, as a way to avoid awkward situations, the moment her studying was finished, Katrina would bolt out the door to play on her own-- it was better than having to sit inside all alone, with the horrible atmosphere the house seemed to have whenever she was around.

 Mixcoatl is an old god, and it shows. While still a warrior in top condition, his personality has become slightly intolerant and jaded.
He prefers to be left alone, or with Tepin-- other Gods as well as humans annoy him, as their problems seem so trivial in the grand scheme of things. While he is cordial enough to hold conversations with others, he is often very blunt and direct about his feelings, which, while meant casually, tend to offend others.
While dealing with Tepin, he seems much kinder and softer around the edges. She is, for the most part, his “child”, and thus she should be treated as such. The thought of her getting hurt in the game is mortifying-- he’d rather her build her strength outside of the danger before she fought. But he understands the nature of the game-- and he knows his intentions for playing.
Mixcoatl is, quite frankly: Bored. The God has been sitting around with nothing to do for hundreds of years. Any red-blooded man would go insane from that. And so, his reasoning for playing the Game is for sport. However, being the competitive man that he is, losing will not be an option.
"Mixcoatl was one of four children of Tonacatecuhtli, meaning "Lord of Our Sustenance," an aged creator god, and Cihuacoatl, a fertility goddess and the patroness of midwives. Sometimes Mixcoatl was worshipped as the "Red" aspect of the god Tezcatlipoca, the "Smoking Mirror," who was the god of sorcerers, rulers, and warriors. In one story, Tezcatlipoca transformed himself into Mixcoatl and invented the fire drill by revolving the heavens around their axes, bringing fire to humanity. Along with this cosmic fire drill, Mixcoatl was the first to strike fire with flint. These events made Mixcoatl a god of fire, along with war, and the hunt.
Mixcoatl was the father of 400 sons, collectively known as the Centzon Huitznahua, who ended up having their hearts eaten by Huitzilopochtli. The Centzon Huitznahua met their demise when they, and their sister Coyolxauhqui, after finding their mother Coatlicue pregnant, conspired to kill her. However, as they attacked she gave birth to a fully formed and armed Huitzilopochtli, who proceeded to kill his half-siblings. Mixcoatl was also related to 400 more gods, the Centzonmimixcoa, whom, together with his 3 brothers (all different from the ones named above) and their sister, he slew by ambush. Mixcoatl was also thought of as being the father of another important deity, Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent.
Quetzalcoatl's father Mixcoatl was murdered; Quetzalcoatl was informed by Cozcaquauhtli that "the uncles who had killed his father were Apanecatl, Zolton, and Cuilton." ( Wikipedia)
