You are cordially invited to attend the Third Annual Fa'e Prom Event, "Flights of Fancy".

Please join us this year at Serafina Manor, home of the esteemed best-selling author N. Devan, on August 10th at 7 p.m. for a three-day gala event.

Fancy or costume dress is requested, though not required. We look forward to your presence.

Welcome to the Third Annual Fa'e Prom, hosted by Sosiqui!!
Please, no random OOC chatter. With the execption of the NPCs, this is also a Fa'e-only event unless the Fa'e is young enough to require a Guardian's presence.

Serafina Manor, the setting for this year's event, is a luxurious estate located outside of Durem's city walls, but still falling under the city's jurisdiction. The beautiful central mansion is built all of white stone, in a subdued Gothic style, with elegant stone carvings and gargoyles here and there.

The gardens are impeccably manicured, with large cypress and oak trees spread across rolling lawns and hedgerows. There is a pool outside, landscaped so as to appear more like a small lake, and a poolside guest house with a large common room below and many rooms on the second floor. Gazebos and hidden groves are everywhere, as well as other oddities here and there such as elegant angel statues, an impressive set of large windchimes hanging from a tree, a koi pond, and so forth. The gardens are designed to guide visitors through them, discovering all the 'surprises' as they go.

Within the house, the ceilings are high and great windows, many of them stained glass, fill the rooms with light. All the rooms are large and beautifully decorated, with tasteful and expensive furniture and art everywhere. (Naturally, the rare pieces are protected by the finest unbreakable magical wards that money can buy.) Everything speaks of opulence, and of good taste and skill in displaying that opulence. The feel of the house is refined and pleasant, rather than gaudy.

The areas where the Fa'e will be include the gardens, the poolhouse (which shares the same elegance in decor as the main manor), and several areas within the manor itself:

- The ballroom. This room is huge and juts out from the house so that it is windowed on three sides (think the ballroom from Disney's Beauty and the Beast) and boasts a golden marble floor along with a particularly spectacular chandelier as its centerpiece.

- The dining hall. Again, a massive room with great mahogany tables, serving extremely fancy multi-course meals at the appropriate hours, and a well-spread selection of hors d'ouvres at other times. All the food and drink available is offered by Miss Devan's polished staff, and is all the highest quality available.

- The library. Surprisingly - or maybe not, considering Miss Devan's own love of the written word - this room is even larger than the ballroom. Huge, floor-to-ceiling bookcases of dark cherrywood hold thousands and thousands of tomes, displaying a collection larger than that in any public library and even bigger than the one in Fa'e HQ itself. There is also a small room off the library where Miss Devan appears to do her writing, containing a desk with ink and quill pens.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. N. Devan : N. Devan is known throughout Gaia as a best-selling author. However, not much is known about her personal life due to her extreme desire for privacy: she gives few interviews and strives to keep to herself as much as is possible for a woman in the spotlight.

What is known about her is fairly common knowledge, and anyone who reads will have heard of Miss Devan's work: she is a very prolific author, writing in multiple genres and excelling in every type of tale she attempts. Not only does she write across many genres, she is also extremely fast at producing new material. Her work is lauded as being extremely true-to-life and realistic, bringing deep emotional responses in the reader.

Because of her success, Miss Devan is also riduculously wealthy, with a fortune that some suspect may rival that of the Gambino family. She lives in her own estate in Durem, called Serafina Manor.

Why has she invited the Fa'e here, breaking her silence to invite in a group she has never met before? Only she knows.

This event spans three days of luxury and relaxation. Those wishing to remain on the estate all three days are welcome to do so; there are plenty of rooms in the poolside guest house. We ask only that you respect the property and leave it as it was when you came.

OOCly, this event lasts from August 10th-August 17th, with approximately two real-life days to every one IC day.

In addition, pending the individual choices of each Fa'e, one-on-one metaplot may be available. This is dependent on what your Fa'e does while at the Prom - and, for some, on prior decisions - and cannot be OOCly requested. Keep in mind that this one-on-one metaplot may STRONGLY affect your Fa'e's future plotline and will leave you open to GM prompting and plots in the future, for good or ill!

When not in a GM-organized session, Fa'e are welcome to roam the house and estate, as described in the Serafina Manor setting post above. There are ample entertainments, and food, dancing and other pursuits are always available.

You don't have to play every second of every day, but feel free to play whenever you would like. The event is so long to ensure that as many Guardians as possible get to take part.

Enduring Muse

"Ma'am? The guests are beginning to arrive."

Niyati Devan glanced up from her writing, one onionskin-thin page in front of her nearly covered in neat letters, and glared at the butler in the doorway through her thick, wide glasses. "Not now. I have to finish this, or he'll never make it! Oh, my poor Enrique..." She dismissed him with one hand; the long fingers were stained at the end with ink from the quill.

"As you wish, ma'am. Shall I let them in?"

"Oh, of course. I wouldn't miss it for the world... just keep them out of the library for right now." Niyati continued to write even as she talked, the quill pen moving swiftly across the paper as though conversing and writing simultaneously was child's play. "I must finish this chapter, I can't leave the poor man waiting."

The butler nodded. Miss Devan was a charming lady and the pay was fabulous, but it really was true what they said about artists and eccentricities... this wasn't the first time she'd delayed dinner or some other event for the sake of some character that had grabbed her attention. "And you will speak to them, of course?"

"Naturally. Just not. Right. Now. Go. Away." Niyati's eyes glittered coldly for a moment, and the butler took the hint.

"Yes, ma'am. Just ring when you're ready for me to attend," he said, quickly, backing out of the room and closing the door behind him.

After a moment's leaning against one of the shelves in the library to get his strength back - Miss Devan certainly knew how to glare in a terrifying fashion, if nothing else - he walked out of the library and headed for the foyer.

Outside, the grounds were glittering in the night, with strings of lights and lanterns marking every tree. The pathway up to the house from the carriageway was a river of light, and he could hear the sounds of the first arrivals.

Welcome to Serafina Manor...

The 2006 Fa'e Prom is now OPEN!
Niyati's greeting address will occur in a few hours. Until then, explore, converse and enjoy!
Kami pulled the car up before the address indicated on the invite. She looked from the card up to the residence and her heart fluttered slightly. This was the place, and what a place it was indeed. She looked to the bubbly child sitting in he back seat via her rear view mirror and melted.

“Okay Kanoa,” she began as she undid her belt and climbed out, rounding the car and opened his door. “Remember to behave.”

“Yes, mother.” The child said, eyes not once leaving the sight of the large building as she tidied him up.

“Mind your manners and don’t run about. Listen to the older folk and if you need anything, don’t forget to call.” She continued, rubbing the fur down on one of his wings and patted him gently on the back.

“Yes, ma’am.” Kanoa replied automatically, barely listening to her at all. The touch on his back nearly prompting him to take off running but he thought better of it. Barely containing his excitement, the boy was positively shaking with anticipation. He looked back at his mom, who by now had gotten back in the car and was smiling so proudly and gave her a wave and continued on.

“Think he’ll be okay by himself?” Kitty said from his hiding spot in her coat collar.

“I don’t know, but I trust him.” She sighed and pulled away once she was satisfied he’d be okay.
((h-huzzah ;0 wink )

Beloved Stargazer

Not too long after the car had left, a motorcycle came down the same track, stopping to the side as the taller of the two figures on it put her foot down to keep it in balance. She glanced nearby as the smaller of the two slided down to the ground, adjusting his scarf once he did so.

"Don't forget to give me your helmet." Zero started, continuing to look, visibely for someone. Shina did not look like she was there... and she was going to run late for her own event if she lingered too long. She absentmindely reached an hand to take the helmet as Sei handed it over, pondering what to do. She didn't really fancy leaving him alone, even if she was sure he would behave himself just fine.

"Is anything wrong ?" The blonde asked, adjusting his mask. This thing was a bit hard to get used to, but hopefully he would get used to it soon.

"Do you see your mother anywhere ?"

"She's probably just running late." Sei shrugged. "Talking about late, you'll be the one to be late at the rate."

"Yeah, I know, I know." Zero sighed. "You got your phone ?"

The boy nodded, inwardly a bit annoyed by how his guardian seemed so nervous.

"Okay then. I don't think I need to annoy you more with all the cautions and whatnot." She grinned. "Shirren's home if you need him, blah blah blah..." That made Sei smile a little. "And have fun."

"You too."

"Haha right, hopefully." Not really, but hey. The woman's foot left the ground as the bike left much faster than how it had arrived, making the fa'e struggle to resist a facepalm as he turned around. This was a big mansion indeed...
Adjusting his goggles so they sat right atop his head, Kanoa looked over his shoulder at the sound of the motorcycle pulling up. He watched someone climb down then the bike drove off again. Smiling a bit to himself, the young fa’e waited for the new person before going inside.

“Big, huh?” He called over smiling politely.

Beloved Stargazer

"Yeah." Sei glanced down at the bat fa'e, blinking a bit. This one he had never seen before, as far as he could remember, and the blonde followed as he motionned to go inside. "I don't think I've ever seen you before... My name is Sei." He gave a barely noticable smile before turning his attention back to the direction he was walking to.
Following along side the taller fa’e, Kanoa looked about at the strings of lights as they crossed into the decorated garden.

“I’m Kanoa. You live around here? I’m from Gambino Island.” The child rattled off, still jazzed about this whole ordeal. He’s plans for the night included a bowl of cereal and one of his DVDs. But Now.. NOW he was getting to go to another party. In costume no less!

Beloved Stargazer

"I've been to Gambino Isle once. It was pretty nice." He answered. "I live maybe 5 minutes from Barton Town. Not as pretty but it's pretty nice too."

He was barely done that sentence that he froze in place, after they finally had reached inside the mention, and he simpely could not keep his awe inside himself. "Whoah... check this out !"
