Serafina Manor, the setting for this year's event, is a luxurious estate located outside of Durem's city walls, but still falling under the city's jurisdiction. The beautiful central mansion is built all of white stone, in a subdued Gothic style, with elegant stone carvings and gargoyles here and there.
The gardens are impeccably manicured, with large cypress and oak trees spread across rolling lawns and hedgerows. There is a pool outside, landscaped so as to appear more like a small lake, and a poolside guest house with a large common room below and many rooms on the second floor. Gazebos and hidden groves are everywhere, as well as other oddities here and there such as elegant angel statues, an impressive set of large windchimes hanging from a tree, a koi pond, and so forth. The gardens are designed to guide visitors through them, discovering all the 'surprises' as they go.
Within the house, the ceilings are high and great windows, many of them stained glass, fill the rooms with light. All the rooms are large and beautifully decorated, with tasteful and expensive furniture and art everywhere. (Naturally, the rare pieces are protected by the finest unbreakable magical wards that money can buy.) Everything speaks of opulence, and of good taste and skill in displaying that opulence. The feel of the house is refined and pleasant, rather than gaudy.
The areas where the Fa'e will be include the gardens, the poolhouse (which shares the same elegance in decor as the main manor), and several areas within the manor itself:
- The ballroom. This room is huge and juts out from the house so that it is windowed on three sides (think the ballroom from Disney's Beauty and the Beast) and boasts a golden marble floor along with a particularly spectacular chandelier as its centerpiece.
- The dining hall. Again, a massive room with great mahogany tables, serving extremely fancy multi-course meals at the appropriate hours, and a well-spread selection of hors d'ouvres at other times. All the food and drink available is offered by Miss Devan's polished staff, and is all the highest quality available.
- The library. Surprisingly - or maybe not, considering Miss Devan's own love of the written word - this room is even larger than the ballroom. Huge, floor-to-ceiling bookcases of dark cherrywood hold thousands and thousands of tomes, displaying a collection larger than that in any public library and even bigger than the one in Fa'e HQ itself. There is also a small room off the library where Miss Devan appears to do her writing, containing a desk with ink and quill pens.
