User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.It is a small place in the countryside, this shop - a place with a wide wooden porch and a rustic feel. It seems the sort of place to house some farmer, small for a country-side home but not too small. And it is an inviting place, an aura of welcome settled over the building and its surrounding land. The lights are always on, the door is always open, even when there is no-one there. The aura is strong - strong enough to be felt by even the most deadened souls, but it is wholly invisible, the mark left there by a goddess.

The small fox-like creatures that congregate here are under her watchful eyes. She watches them play in a cacophony of colors and a multitude of tails, and she smiles. They are Inari's beloved, her chosen ones. And she, along with Trio and Teralinth, are searching for proper homes for her little ones - for owners who will love them as they are meant to be loved.

1. Respect the shop staff at all times. It is because of them that this place exists.
2. Play nice in the thread.
3. Direct-link your Zurui until they're adults.
4. Do not claim the artwork as your own. It was created by Youkochylde and Envy Fairchylde.
5. Zurui kits will not grow to adults until they've been named. See the FAQ below to find out where to post names. Exceptions to this are series Zurui, or Zurui where all kits look the same but adults look different. If you're not sure about your Zurui, just post in the thread.

In Japanese mythology, Inari is one of the most complex and confusing major deities there are. Her graces are sought by those wishing prosperity in their fields and businesses, and she is well known as a motherly influence for all. Her preferred messenger is a magical shape-shifting fox, and she can often be seen flanked by a pair of foxes. Sometimes depicted as an elderly male bearing sheathes of rice, Inari has chosen her female guise in order to walk amongst the citizens of Gaia.

Her loving influences are shown in the way she's created a sanctuary for one of her favorite species, the Zurui, and in her attitude in welcoming any that come to the Nojo, be they longtime owners, or first time visitors. And while generous and accepting of all, she has little tolerance for those who seek to curry her wrath, and will not hesitate to take action against such who disturb the peace at her Nojo.

The word 'zurui' means 'cunning' in Japanese, and that's just what these sneaky little creatures are. It's a part of them, as bone-deep an instinct as any other and apt to drive the less patient Gaians out there to distraction. Personalities change from Zurui to Zurui, but they're all "as sly as a fox".

The Zurui are capable of human speech, but willingness seems to depend solely on the Zurui in question. Some are mute by choice, others by nature, and some are insanely talkative. Most, however, seem to be fairly moderate in their preference for speaking. All Zurui are also influenced by certain 'types'. Influences can range far and wide, and those who seek out learning and practice can learn to manipulate magics that identify with their influence. As kits, there are very few Zurui who can use more than the most basic of magics - power and ability grow as they learn.

While the Zurui have no real caste system or status-consciousness for the most part, they do have a very instinctive respect for those Zurui with higher tail counts. Zurui can have multiple tails, up to nine tails at a time, though nine-tailed Zurui are very rare. No one knows just why it is that higher tails seem to make a difference to them, though some suspect that it might have to do with the amount of power the Zurui can wield. Whatever the case, nine-tailed Zurui in particular are highly respected as leaders of their kind.

Zurui are a very physically-affectionate bunch. They seem to need touch to survive, and can often be found sleeping curled in a pile of as many as there are nearby. They're taught how to work in packs from the beginning of their life, but they also know how to get along with many other species, so that if they are ever separated from others of their kind, they won't suffer.

Some Zurui develop wings as they grow - these Zurui are fully capable of flight when they are fully grown, but they have no instincts for flight. In order for these Zurui to learn to fly, if they wish, they must seek out another capable of winged flight, and learn from this teacher.

Zurui are a friendly sort, given to open-ended, easy-going relationships. This is not to say that none of them ever lifemate. On the contrary, some of the most lasting relationships possible have been formed between two Zurui. But often, those sharing dens may not stay together beyond a single litter of kits, and that's perfectly fine with us.

We have four dens on our land that we know of, and these dens have been carefully maintained to offer maximum comfort to the happy pair. The dens are warm, dry, and remain so even on the coldest and wettest days of the year. And three of the dens are for anyone to use.

The fourth den, however, Inari has claimed as her own - a place for those Zurui she personally blesses to go. Zurui seeking her blessing often have no other way of having kits - Zurui of opposing elements, or Zurui of the same gender, for example. No one quite knows the miracles that take place inside that particular den, but it is definitely a holy place, and one with certain requirements.

In order to reserve a normal den for use, the owners of the Zurui must pay 3k. This can be split between both owners, or paid by only one. It is completely up to the owners how to split the fee. Once that money has been recieved, the Zurui will be left inside the den to enjoy each other's company. Breedings generally produce between 2-5 kits, although studies have shown that Zurui who truly love each other have a tendency toward larger families.

Inari's den requires a special approach. First of all, those wishing to enter the den must make a special offering to the goddess of 6k. This money may be split however the owners would like, provided the whole ultimately reaches Inari. From there, the owners must also show Inari that they truly wish for her blessing through roleplaying. Inari's blessing is difficult to obtain, but if you succeed, you will benefit greatly. You may seek Inari's blessing through roleplaying before making the offering to use the den itself. But please let Inari know that your Zurui seek her favor.

Normal Den Info Summary: Normal dens cost 3k. Please post a request in the thread, and send the trade to the colorist mentioned in the den. As soon as possible, please post the pictures of both parents in the thread. Your kits will not arrive without the pictures.

Inari's Den Info Summary: Inari's den costs 6k + roleplaying. Please post a request in the thread, and send the trade to the colorist mentioned in the den. As soon as possible, please post the pictures of both parents in the thread. You will be given a thread in the upcoming guild to roleplay in, along with a task. Please note that Inari's den is the only way to get kits for opposite-influences (Like fire and water), for same-gender matings, and for a breeding made up of two series Zurui.

Series Zurui Breeding Information: Series Zurui can breed in normal dens ONLY with a non-series Zurui. If two Series Zurui wish to breed, they must petition Inari.

The Free Raffle Den is a new den that will be open once a month. Those people who own a Zurui and come by to visit or RP during the first 20 days of the month will be entered into this den. Serious, solid RP will get you two entries instead of a single entry. Somewhere between the 21st and 25th of the month, a winner will be chosen via Gaia's random number generator. This person may breed two of their own zurui, split the den with someone else, or give the den spot away entirely.

Please be aware that this is a normal den - you cannot breed same-gender pairings, opposite elements, or two series zurui together.

Occasionally, I am willing to offer customs for Zurui. In the past, these have been mostly limited to friends or pet-trades, but as of now, as my time permits, I'll be opening up customs to anyone who catches an open spot. Prices are listed below. Donation letters and items are priced using mid-STAR.

Semi-customs are always single-tailed zurui. However, instead of dictating all the details of the zurui, you only give up to three colors, and a very simple markings idea. (Swirls, stripes, sparklies) The final result is mostly up to me.

I am very open to pet trades, but do tend to avoid things like RP requirements. While any and all pets mentioned on my wishlist are pretty much an automatic 'yes', I do welcome other pet trade offers. Please be aware I reserve the right to say 'no' to anyone, for any reason.

Also, occasionally a friend may be invited to do a custom Zurui or two to help themselves out. In this special customs spot, you will see the name of the colorist in question.

Prices
Semi-Custom: 15k
Full Custom (1-tail): 30k
Full Custom (2-4 tails): 50k
Full Custom (5-7 tails): 75k

The Zurui Nojo, in its first incarnation, enjoyed a set of devoted followers who enjoyed not only the art of the pet itself, but the personality of the one who had created them, Youkochylde. Those who came in for the Zurui often stayed for the conversation, and friendships were built that endure to this day. Among those followers were the perhaps overly-fond-of-Zurui Teralinth dKalin, and a certain muse-inspiring Trio Maxwell-Chang, who had the great fortune of having seen the Zurui even before they came to Gaia. Unfortunately, as it is wont to do, real life and other responsibilities soon took up much of Youko's time, and the Zurui Nojo was quietly closed.

It was some time before it would be open again. Youko had handed off care of the Zurui Nojo to a friend, wanting to see the place live again. Shinobu Angel, the new chosen caretaker, loved the Zurui, and built up a small shop that, for a short time, flourished. Some of the old Zurui lovers returned, and a few new friends found their way to the shop. But all too soon, real life crashed down on Shinobu as well. The second shop died quietly - there was no official closing this time, so much as a general quiet that descended.

In the end, Shinobu became unable to return to Gaia, and the shop was handed over to a new set of owners. Youkochylde gave his blessing to Trio and Teralinth, long-time Zurui lovers and new shopowners, and the two set up shop together. It was short-lived in this incarnation due to problematic Real-Life stresses for Teralinth. Eventually, Teralinth came to the realization that she needed time away from Gaia, and may not be able to return at all. Originally, Trio had intended to leave the shop as it was, but the annoyance of having to log out and back into a mule when it was only she who had to update anything finally got the better of her.

Trio finally remade the thread into it's current incarnation. This was simply to offer ease in updating, and should Tera return, she will be a valued part of the staff.

Welcome to the Zurui Nojo.

User ImageName: Trio Maxwell-Chang
Gender: Female
D.O.B.: Unknown
Age: Unknown - Assumed to be mid-20s
Species: Human
Equipment: Angelic sash, gift bracelet from Teralinth dKalin, shining necklace, engagement ring from Shiromaru
Constant Companions: Sankouri

Personality: Trio is usually cheerful and exciteable, and adores opening her home to new friends. She does have her darker moments, though she generally prefers to have them in private, disliking showing such things to others. Trio depends on the others in her household to help her out, and most of them do. Many of her companions look out for each other, although the occasional disagreements have sometimes resulted in rather strong tension.

Notes: She has many Gaians she cares for, but few ever penetrate far enough into her defenses to be truly and fully trusted. Even her closest friends do not know the full story of her past, and none have met her family, though it's obvious that she adores her fathers.

Meet Isyr. Isyr was the first ever Zurui, and one close to my very heart. He doesn't speak much, but when he does, he generally has something to say. Today, he is here to say that he (and I) are in full support of this shop. We can't think of a better person to manage the Zurui (And keep leashes on them) than Trio.

We just wish her luck in herding kits.

Envy_Fairchylde - You put up with me when NO one else will and I love you.
Karma_K - If it was possible to be seperated at birth in today's age, I'd swear we were.
Trio - You're my best friend, and I don't know what I'd do without you.
