The crystallized heart is made from the tears of a fallen angel. Each angel has a reason why they were fallen to earth. Once they cry and confess, their memories and hearts are crystallized in a heart-shaped relic. Their bodies form the setting, holding them together.
They are found where the Iridae fell, or washed up on the beach (If the iridae fell in the ocean, the necklace would be carried to the sand line) and are cool to the touch until placed around the Spirit Keeper's neck.
When worn by the guardian, the crystals are warm, and pulse - like a beating heart. They must be kept close to the Spirit Keeper's heart - feel the life. Because the life of the Spirit Keeper fuels them back into life.
If left too far from their Spirit keeper, their life essence fades. It must reach a certain point before the crystal will crack. If all life essence fades, the angel will die completely.
After it's found a guardian, called the Spirit Keeper, and soaked in enough life essence, the crystal will crack and a spirit-like mist will appear. This is the soul essence of the fallen angel. ICly, this stage lasts 1-2 days. The essence doesn't interract, and is simply getting ready to solidify.
With care, the spirit will form into the form of a humanoid baby. This baby will be the new body for the fallen's spirit. They're as innocent as the day their soul was born in this stage, much like a human baby. They are weak and depend very much on their spirit keeper.
Infants are born with wings and certain other features that would set them apart from others. For example - Angel of Disruption may have multiple limbs - more to cause chaos with. Really, it's up to you to be creative. However, their crystal influences how they look. The ways it does so is often random. Some look less like it, some look more.
As a toddler, shards of their memory start to come into place. Little mini flashbacks (usually in the form of nightmares) plague the child's mind occasionally. Fortunately, hugs and kisses from their spirit keeper tend to calm the child down.
Their much more independent, though still rely heavily on their spirit keeper for just about everything. They can walk and somewhat talk at this point, though they still have no magic to speak of.
They can't exactly -fly- yet, since their wings aren't very strong, but they may be able to hover or glide for a few moments if they really try.

As a kid, they're much more independent. Their memories are coming back, a bit more frequently than as a toddler, and they're harder to forget. Not that all their memories are going to be bad, but their flashbacks are going to be more realistic, as if they're there all over again.
They also have at least 1 of their fundamental abilities surfacing - which comes from their growth quest.

As a teenager, their final memories, the memories of their betrayal (or what caused them to be cast down to earth) and their decent to earth, return to them. With the memories comes a letter from heaven giving them a quest to redeem themselves. Once the quest is completed, the Bleeding Heart becomes an adult and can choose to ascend to the heavens and become an Angel-guide to a future generation of Bleeding Hearts, or remain on earth and have their own family.
Teenagers are just like any normal teenager - except they can fly now, they have discovered their main ability.

Choosing to stay on earth, the angel still regains their wings but will never be allowed into the heavens again. Instead, they embrace their humanity and are able to find love on earth. This is the only way for them to have children and a love of their own.
They retain their wings, but their magic will never be full scale.

Choosing to ascend to the heavens again, the angel regains their wings and is given free reign of heaven and earth. They embrace their immortality and are able to take on their original task once more. They are also given the opportunity to be a "Guardian Angel" to an existing spirit.
A "Guardian Angel" isn't a spirit keeper, but they may help guide them onto the right path and offer advice.
Their abilities are also full blown now, as if they had never fallen.
