It was a mass awakening. It was a simultaneous birth of thousands.
They were new to the world. Innocent creatures with unholy appearances.
The winged shunned them. The flawed hated them.
They were that of nightmares, filled with dreams.

Seeing the hate, and afraid of what it would bring, the unholy creatures built a wall.
Secluding themselves, they learned to live as the angels and people did.
The city aged, as did the people, and the hatred of mothers and fathers turned into the curiosity of children.
The winged, ageless and knowing, warned the children from the demons.

Hate festered once again, as did fear; and the children learned to stay away from the demon's city.
As fearful and hateful as they were, curiosity never left them.
Wanting to lay eyes on these forbidden creatures, a wall could not stop them.
They found ancient tunnels, where trains had once ran, and knew they had found an entrance to the forbidden city.

Bio
When he first fell, he fell with another angel. Surrounded by flashing lights and unfamiliar voices, the two winged creatures naturally felt drawn to each other. Two lost birds, dropped into a sea of rats. That's how Edward would have described it, anyway. Evelyn, the angel he would later come to call his sister, had an entirely different attitude toward the humans. She was fascinated by the complexity of their relationships, and the odd rules none of them seemed to question.

Edward, on the other hand, kept his distance from the humans. The angel seemed constantly at unease when in public, and although Evelyn quickly adopted the role society had given her, her brother was less willing to help those in need. He didn't hate them- how could he? Just like all other angels, he was idolized and loved by the humans. It was their willingness to hurt each other, however, that made him hesitant to help. How could the angels bring peace to a city determined to ruin itself?
Evelyn tried her best to chip away at her brother's hard outer shell, but in the end, it was the daemons' falling that finally shattered his unwillingness to help the humans. When the creatures fell, and shocked the city into sudden chaos and discontent, Edward quickly grew to hate them. They had unintentionally turned the corrupt city into something worse, and soon the cold complacence Edward had once practiced turned into a violent anger.

Fortunately, before the angel could act on his emotions, the daemons withdrew to a single section of the city, where they began to construct a wall to seclude themselves from both humans and angels alike. While Edward believed the only real way to set the city at peace would be to get rid of the monsters, he was convinced by Evelyn to try and forget the horned creatures. He never did.

After years and decades and even a single century, the city has seen and heard nothing from the other side of the wall. Edward and Evelyn, like many of the angels in the city, have become renowned for their good deeds, and while Edward tries his best to keep out of the limelight, Evelyn relishes in it.

Personality
Despite the time that has passed, very little about Edward has changed since the time that he fell. He is still stubborn, close-minded, reluctant to help, and perhaps most importantly, still carries a deep hatred for the daemons. Despite the fame they have gained as sibling angels, Edward avoids the press and public as much as he can, and spends most of his time keeping people away from the walls of the daemon's city. The recent murders have left him on edge and more unkind than usual.

He spends less and less time out during the day, and while his shadowed eyes show an obvious lack of sleep, there still exists a certain determination in them that many other angels lack. His sister has become something of a superstar- taking on various modeling jobs and participating in well-meaning charities. Her life has certainly become one of luxury- although the lifestyle has done nothing to spoil her kindness. Edward will admit to thinking Evelyn is somewhat naive, but regardless of this, her gentle voice is one of the few things that can calm him.

Extra
Evelyn and Edward share a large apartment, although Edward spends so little time there, Evelyn can honestly call it her own. It's only at her request that he manages to get rest, and even then he is reluctant to do so.

Despite his best efforts to avoid it, Edward's affiliation with his sister has brought him into the spotlight more often than he'd like. They've become famous as siblings, and many people who meet him on the street are astounded to find that Edward is more a bitter vigilante than the chivalrous hero the media portrays him as.

Appearance
Vesper

Bio
Vesper's story really starts when he went into a local op shop. He often went to such places because he could not afford newer clothing and was very particular about what he wore. One one such expedition through the opportunity shops he noticed something new, or at least new to the store. On one of the shelves was a thing. It looked like a little wooden house and had numbers around the circumference of a little circle on the lower level. He'd never seen anything like it before so he picked it up and began toying with it. After glancing to see that nobody was looking, he prized the little doors open and peeked inside, where he found a little bird with a red chest. It looked as though someone had taken the care to glue individual feathers across the bird's entire body. There were even little amber gems that gave off a faint sparkle from where it hid. This was a passion begun. Using the change in his pocket and a fake emerald ring, he bought the strange contraption.

Since then, Vesper has had a fascination with wheels and cogs. He began collecting anything that worked with mechanisms rather than electricity and began studying how they worked. Eventually he even tried to make a few himself. The first ones were rather bland looking and the springs burst in one but he kept trying. For hours on end he'd sit at home drawing more and more complicated diagrams. Finally he understood the ways of the ancient devices.

During this time, he still managed to come out of his dwelling. People remarked that for a small while he spoke more than usual. He had more passion and excitement than usual, which wasn't much compared to them. He spoke of the thing, his ideas and a cave he'd found. He never said where it was or what was in it, only that he'd found something.

Vesper was thinking of cogs, wheels and eggs. He'd played around with the ideas for so much time that a pattern was starting to emerge, a creation. He'd scribble down different views of the pattern and even a few different makes until he was ready to make his idea have form. He'd practised, studied and taught himself the ways of the cog. He was now ready. He would create his first magnum opus, his first secret keeping egg. When it was built he sanded and polished it so smooth that he could see his reflection on it. The paint came next. He wasn't a great artist but he was persistent, detailed and had a perfect picture in his mind. This first egg was pearlescent green to blue with a gold top player. For the gold layer he needed magnifying glasses to complete, the work was so intricate and so time consuming. It was done in Celtic design with a bare area where he painted a golden snake, which curled around like a four-leaf clover. Into this first egg he whispered his full name. The wheels turned and the cogs hummed against one another. He closed the egg then listened to the sound of the lock clicking into place.

He placed the egg on his mantle piece and stood back. He was content again.

Since his first egg, Vesper has made many more. He now has a whole vault of them locked away inside the back of his home. He sells them and is paid to keep them locked away in his vault. There is only one way in and one way out and he has the only key to it hidden amongst the many pockets of his jacket. He has many pairs of other keys too but they are only for decoration. They do not yet have any lock for them to fit within.

Personality
Vesper is a quiet man: solitary and refined. Even his voice is as soft as the gentle hum of the eggs he so lovingly guards. He is the type of person who does not approach someone lightly, or even notice them lightly. There is always a reason for everything he does, and it has to be a good reason otherwise he simply will not do it. He's not a very active person. At times this makes him seem lazy or sluggish but in fact it's simply because it takes a great deal for him to change.

It takes a lot for Vesper to decide to act upon something, and usually it's done after a great deal of thought. He doesn't like surprises or spontaneity at all. It's most likely he'll think about his actions for a long time after they've happened too.

Extra
Vesper holds many secrets. He takes them away and locks them in his precious eggs, his magnum opera (great works). Each one is lovingly hand crafted and locked away in a vault deep in demon territory. His duty is to guard over them and protect the keys and their locks with is very life. He spends much of his life locked away, wondering amongst his eggs and playing them. The sounds of the wheels and cogs ticking over in time with the words of secrecy is music to his ears.

When he is not guarding his eggs he can usually be found wondering about op shops (thrift stores) and pawn stores. He prefers alternative and daemon run stores but he will sometimes hood up and hope to go unnoticed in human stores. He has a fascination with old things, especially keys and clocks. He can spend hours holding a piece and moving it around in his hands, studying its intricacies, faults and workings.

Vesper does not like the cold, which is why he keeps his hair long and clothes covering as much of his skin as possible. He is usually wearing more then two layers too, though most are tight fitting. He doesn't like the feel of baggy clothing because it moves around too much, making the air around him stir and chill his skin. He doesn't like the look of baggy clothes either. He considers them rather dumpy looking.

Niccolo Rosso

Appearance
Messer Rosso

Bio
Niccolo never really expected anything grand out of his life when he was a little child. Oh no, he was quite content being raised by his father to be a good boy and live a normal life. He was actually pretty content up until his Dad came down with a disease. Sure it was curable, but the p***k that was selling the cure demanded more than his father could afford. So Niccolo did his best to help his daddy, he started rationing how much he ate so he could save more. Hell, he even got a job after school, despite the fact that he was more than willing to drop out for a full time shift but his Dad wasn't having any of it. However his condition only worsened as his medicine fund rose, the worst of it eventually caused him to be bed ridden.

That was when Rosso became worried, and began to negotiate with the cure holder in a desperate attempt to save his father's. Simply put, it didn't work. The b*****d had risen the price and he crushed any hopes of Niccolo taking a legal measure for his father's cure. So...he did the next best thing, theft. Unfortunately by the time he was able to pilfer enough of the cure away, his father's condition was critical.

After his father's death, Niccolo appeared to be rather hollow as he went through his school years trying to support himself. While he didn't have to worry about shelter, his aunt took him in after his father's death, it just didn't feel right with him. He started to get into fights at school, something about only fighting the ones that deserved it, it didn't matter to the school or his aunt. Aside from the fights, he seemed to get quite a few female callers that just did wonders for his confidence. His next few years were a blur, something about becoming an officer or something. In the end, the redhead didn't like the procedure of the entire thing...and began to look for other ways to help the community. Ways that might not be so liked, but served the community just the same.

It has been about twenty some odd years since Niccolo became a mercenary, and while he's one of the best, he's certainly different. Like any reasonable person his age, he was debating on retirement when the murders happened...Which was just wonderful, considering it usually brought work and it brought about a rather interesting contract. One about possibly entering the underground for a lead. Just wonderful, he doesn't exactly want to go back down there but the customer's always right, and it seems reasonable.

Personality
Niccolo is a bit of a loner in his line of work. Sure most bounty hunters are at one point or another, but he hasn't always been a mercenary. It might be on his resume and what not, but he'd prefer the lie over his truth, especially involving anyone close to him. Be it his neighbor, or his landlord, and his past occupational experiences told him when to keep things a secret... His occupational experiences also made him good at keeping secrets, longer than they were meant some might say, but he doesn't exactly care. His past occupation also told him how to be incredibly cautious and to always be on guard, while appearing not to be.

Curiously, to the people that live in his apartment building, he's seen as a rather sociable bachelor despite his preference for secrets. Maybe a bit stiff when it comes to kids, but sociable all the same. Some of the adults that live there, are still a little stumped by the knowledge that they can rely on him as an impromptu sitter. Unbeknownst to most in the building, Rosso has something of a history tracking down and bringing back lost or kidnapped children...so in short he knows how to deal with children.

A third side, that's even rarer to most, is when he's meeting up with an employer. This is the side, that's all no non-sense, distant, and professional. Even when in the face of some of his more pampered employer's that are just using their parents' money to get back at a friend or something...bloody spoiled rich people, make children look mature. Of course whenever he meets up with one, he always goes by Mister Lavender.

Extra
Unknown to most, except the kids he babysits and one other person, he has quite a large aquarium in his penthouse. He has quite a love for aquatic life and can spend hours just sitting in front of his aquarium watching his fish.

Much more known to many of the female members of his apartment, and some male members as well, is his bachelor status. It's definitely a mixed blessing since it tends to raise his confidence...but brings a lot of unwarranted aggression from people's lovers.

Despite being the second generation to live with angels, he doesn't view them as highly as he probably should. It might have something to do with the fact that the angels he's encounter are nothing but self righteous "paladins" that follow the law to a goddamn letter! There is no room for altruism or egotism, there's only social constructs in place to make chaos more manageable in their blessed books.

Personality
Ixodon is a bit of a loner in his line of work. Sure most bounty hunters are at one point or another, but he has something of a history of working alone. It probably has something to do with the fact that he doesn't really help a partner, if he has one, something how ignorance can protect in the right situation. It's not really any great mystery on why he comes across as distant, but it's certainly a challenge to get him to warm up to anyone at his work.

Curiously, to the people that live in his neighborhood, he's seen as a rather nice old man. Maybe a bit stiff when it comes to kids, but sociable all the same. Some of the adults that live in the area, are still a little stumped by the knowledge that they can rely on him as an impromptu sitter. A third side, that's even rarer to most, is when he's meeting up with an employer. This is the side, that's all no non-sense, distant, and professional. Even when in the face of some human employers...which always caused himself to laugh.

Extra
Ixodon's eyes are a rich, dark green color similar to emeralds, and he refuses to dye his despite it becoming a lustrous silver color tipped by black end. His wardrobe consists mostly of dark green suits trimmed with silver or black

The tattoo on his face, hides a scar he received from a rather brash human...same goes of his left horn, though that's from another demon.

Unknown to most, 'cept those in his line of work, he has ventured into the human city...despite some of the stories he's heard in his youth about them. The humans aren't nothing special to him, if anything they remind him of his own kind, while the angels...he views them as winged humans, that should really learn to forget some things.

Genisis Elwyn

Bio
Ever since the desent Genisis has shied from the unwarranted reverence and devotion the humans have granted to the angels. Being revered as a savior made her feel uneasy about the sense of expectation placed on her and her impending failure. When the demons came, however, she felt the disgust that ran through the other angels with them. And Genisis always felt ashamed of that reaction.

Determined to break free of her self-inflicted exclusion Genisis has recently begun to meet with the humans that inhabited Essence before her, and perhaps even get to understand the demons that followed the angel's arrival.

Personality
Quiet, shy and soft spoke. Genisis desperately tries to avoid offending those that surround her and please all who meet her. However, whenever she has been faced with the presence of demons indignation and arrogance have often over-ridden her well-mannered nature and sent her into a haughty tirade of self-righteousness.

Too young to know when the angels fell, Lastly never mimicked the devotion other people did. She often found angels to be self righteous pricks with somewhat of a God complex. Intrigued by the disgust that confronted the arrival of the demons, Lastly always secretly sought to get to know one, if for nothing other than to rebel against society.

Having lead an unremarkable life filled with A's and B's in school, Lastly has finally struck out on her own, and her first move was to tattoo herself and get in with the "wrong sort of people". Planning to spend her days in a dangerous blur of sex, drugs/booze, and rock and roll, she's determined to make her life a joke to her conservative upbringing.

Personality
Lastly swears like a sailor and drinks like a pirate. She has lost any regard or common courtesy for the feelings of those surrounding her. And although she says some inconsiderate, rude things. Lastly takes up for those she cares about and trusts to do the same for her.

Iezabel Chronis

Username
iAriana-x

Age
Twenty Four

Race
Demon

Appearance
Iezabel
Iezabel stands at exactly five feet, four inches and weighs one hundred and thirty-two pounds. Her long, light red hair, which is normally worn in one long, loose braid, reaches down past her waist line and her eyes are a rich red. Her eyesight, however, is less than spectacular, so she usually wears black, half-rimmed glasses when reading or writing. Iezabel's horns mirror her wings in appearance, looking like stationary wings upon her head. Yet, the wings on her back are completely useless, being shrunken and mostly dead. They would be about as long as her petite shoulders if stretched out, but since they are so weak, they stay curled behind her back, looking like realistic props, hidden behind her long pinkish hair.

Bio
Iezabel's life could be classified as for the most part, uneventful and rather dull. Her father was struck with a disease soon after her birth and, sadly, passed away from said illness, leaving she, her older brother, Abaddon, and her mother alone. Her mother, a hard working member of the community, was intent on providing a good environment for her young daughter, just as every good parent would want. Through her school years, Iezabel was a shy, quiet girl, with a great love for reading and beyond satisfactory grades . If fact, she'd been recommended to skip her last year of secondary school and enter straight into college. Since she'd always dreamed of college-sized libraries, the answer was a simple yes.

All throughout college and beyond, Iezabel's imagination proved much more interesting than her everyday life. When she was old enough to understand that there were others beyond the wall they were all enclosed in, she was greatly intrigued. Humans fascinate her and she reads stories and articles about them any chance she gets. The angels also made her wonder, but she kept these thoughts to herself after hearing of the apparent hatred they felt toward her kind.

Being such a studious girl, so absorbed into books, the only job she could think appropriate for her was a librarian. That is exactly what she became, and though it's not the most extravagant job, working in a dusty place, in silence, she thinks it a dream. Iezabel tends to stay out of the limelight, not wanting to draw much attention to herself. Her normal day consists of calls from her mother and brother and hours at the library, checking in and checking out books, reorganizing the shelves, and things of that nature. She'll eventually find some time to herself to read a new book or write in her journal. Perhaps even water the plants in her apartment.

Personality
Iexabel is, without a better word, very shy. When she speaks, her voice is light and soft. When faced with a problem, she prefers to solve it quickly and efficiently, not wanting to waste time on pointless things. However, she is very patient, knowing that all good things come in time. Her imagination sometimes causes her to fade off into her mind or dive so deep into the pages of her book that she'll go almost unresponsive. This irritates people who are trying to get her attention.

She is a major perfectionist and, perhaps, maybe a little OCD, wanting things to go just right when she does them, and taking the time out to make them right. She also doesn't take being yelled at very well, instead escaping the situation, if possible, and isolating herself for a while.

Extra
She loves to listen to classical and soft rock music as she reads or writes.
She does, despite her personality, smoke cigarettes from time to time. Normally just to relieve stress or anger.
She really would like to meet an angel aswell. Perhaps not as much as she would a human, but still, the desire is present.
She has an extremely precise and accurate memory, taking note of little things one normally wouldn't, and remembering it for a long time.
She has never missed an entry in her journal. Ever.

15

Race
Human

Appearance
Aysel

Bio
Aysel was born into a good amount of money- her mother owned a large company that dealt with researching new technologies in the medical field, and her father was a mystery her mother wouldn't talk about. Despite living with her mother, the girl sometimes felt like she were no closer to the woman than she was with her absent father. When she was young, she was often in the care of a nanny, and would only see her mother in the evenings. She was at times bitter with the woman, mostly because she couldn't understand how busy work would leave her single parent. She grew rebellious, though whether it was to spite her mother or gain her attention, no one could tell. She would often run off on her own through the city, and while at first it frightened her nannies or her mother, it quickly became routine to find the girl missing, only to return in a few hours as if nothing had happened.

As Aysel grew, the habit only continued, and at school she had few friends. At first this made her a target for teasing and bullying- but this came to a sudden stop when she managed to break a boy's arm by pushing him off of a ledge in the school's playground. Of course, whatever friends she had made at that point vanished, although it didn't bother her as much as it might have. Her grades were decent, but her teachers insisted the girl had no passion, and no desire to learn. They couldn't be more wrong.

Aysel did want to learn- but not about math and science. From an early age, she had grown to love venturing toward the wall surrounding the Demon's City. It seemed like such a frightening name, but the city itself seemed no more frightening than Essence. She found that if she stayed close enough to the wall, she could hear the sounds of life from the other side- just normal, everyday life. So why was it people only whispered ugly things about the people inside? Surely they weren't as terrifying and evil as they believed. The girl wanted to learn about the demons- how they acted, how they lived, and of course, what they looked like. But it seemed like no one wanted to answer her questions.

All the secrecy and fear surrounding the demons seemed almost ridiculous to the girl, so she quickly decided she would venture into the city and find out about the demons herself, although she wouldn't admit to herself that she had no idea how to go about it.

Personality
Although not abrasively rude, Aysel certainly isn't what others would call polite. She doesn't try to fake a smile when someone tells a lame joke, and she certainly doesn't pretend to like people she hates. The girl isn't depressive though- not at all. She knows how to have fun, and she does it often, with the few friends she's managed to keep throughout the years.

Aysel's relatively smart for her age, and able to think with a level head in most situations. She does suffer from the idea that she can handle almost anything that comes her way- which has certainly put her in a few bad situations.

Her opinion on the angels is mixed. She's met a few, and certainly doesn't think badly of them- but something about the way people treat them is a bit off to her. She doesn't hold them in reverence like many people do, and the idea seems almost as silly as the Demon's City being forbidden.

Extra
Just recently, Aysel convinced her mother to let her undergo a surgery to implant cybernetics in her eyes. The implants enhance her vision in a few different ways, the most prominent being her new ability to see better than others in the dark. Unfortunately, while she can see quite well in dark places, she is also very easily spotted, because of her glowing retinas.
