FULL NAME: Hanzel Meyer
NICKNAME: 'The Grim Sleeper'

-------- APPEARANCE
EYES: Hazel, but it's hard to tell when they're closing or on the way 70% of the time. Prominent dark circles.
HAIR: Brown curls. Messy.
SKIN: Pale
BODY: Around average height. Stringy. Freakishly big hands and feet.
ACCESSORIES: Dogtags, more for necessity's sake than fashion. He wears them to appease his Ma.
DRESS: Simple shirts with the sleeves rolled up and buttons either missing or in the wrong holes, or the whole thing half-tucked into his trousers. Uncoordinated, always in dark colours in case he falls asleep in the dirt. On bad days, he wears rubber gloves.

POSITION: Officially he works in the Missions Department. Unofficially, he's the loveable layabout.

DETAILS: When especially tired or in situations of high emotion (weariness is pretty much a continuous thing), Hanzel has the tendency to shock people (quite literally). Leaving him in charge of things generally means they end up half-finished, which irritates Alexis to no end, but he tries his best.
-------- PERSONALITY
Hanzel is the type of man that just can't get it together. Good-looking in a scruffy way and charming when he wants to be, he nevertheless goes through lovers like underwear because he's not commitment material. He's essentially a big kid, the kind of guy who approaches adulthood but never quite gets there. Always smiling, rarely serious, Hanzel is also a diagnosed narcoleptic, and spends much of the day asleep, or falling asleep. He has the habit of doing so at the most inappropriate moments (missions, bathtub, mid-conversation - the list goes on). To top it off, he's hopelessly forgetful and loses track of things easily, particularly dates and his train of thought. It makes for horrible paperwork, and Alexis is always getting on his case.
-------- PREFERENCES
LIKES: Sweets, taking naps, dogs, making his Ma happy, being loved, doing a good job. He's a simple guy.
DISLIKES: Troublesome things, particularly scary females. Hurting other people accidentally.
-------- BACKGROUND
The only son of a single mother; she had a real hard time raising him, not because he was a rowdy kid but because he was an exception, and seriously allergic to the meds that would otherwise help a manageable condition. They moved from eastern Germany to America to escape the frost since the cold combined with Hanzel's constant sleeping was doing a number on his body. The story might have ended there, but on a Spring evening his mother fell off the fire escape and Hanzel's attempts to give life to an unpaid landline caused a blackout that spanned half of Death City. He was 'recruited' by SHIBUSEN, and the rest, as they say, is history. His ability to mould his soul's wavelength outside his body remains unrivalled, partly due to his affinity for electricity.

Hanzel lives in the school dorms because travelling is a hassle; with his condition they won't let him drive, and there's always the chance of ending up in Texas if he catches the train. His Ma's apartment is close-by and he calls her once a day.

- Alexis
Alexis is his boss; it's hard to know where he stands when she's so... Alexis-like... but she doesn't mind too much when Hanzel calls her Lexi, and she forgave him for that thing with the coffee machine, so it can't be too dire.
- Ashie
He likes Ashie because she reminds him of himself. She's fun to be with and doesn't stop talking when he falls asleep.
- Arashi
Arashi's really low tension. Relaxing. Hanzel always has good dreams when he's around.
- Michael
Does most of Hanzel's work. He feels bad about it, but Michael seems to enjoy it. Win/win?
- Jerard
Always expects the best of him. Hanzel owes him a big, big favour for all the smooth-talking he did when Hanzel was still learning and kept blowing the lights.
