Where He Came From
Freedom, a sense of being out on one’s own with not a care in the world. Space, the absence of one’s annoying elder siblings clamoring all over. Tidiness, the state of Heiyuu’s room for the first time in his life. Hell, this was the first time he’d had his own room to clean up! Previously, due to the financial state of his parents and the situation of his family, he’d been forced to share a room with ALL seven of his brothers, as well as his fifteen male cousins. The room was exceptionally large, but with all of them being growing boys, they’d had to cramp into dual beds and sleep in pairs. Being the youngest – and the odd numbered child in the group – Heiyuu was given the options of going to share a room with his three sisters and nine female cousins, go share a room with his aunts, uncles, and parents, or sleep on the floor.
Initially, as it was three families in the one home, Heiyuu would just migrate about between the rooms – depending on who was in the best mood to take him in – or sleep by himself in the living room. That had initially been unadvisable – seeing as he had the earliest bedtime of the group – but eventually he just learned to stay up after he was supposed to be in bed and sneak out when everyone else was gone. Sleeping by himself became more and more frequent until, finally, the boy had decided it was time to pack his few personal belongings and go out to seek his fortune in the world. His brothers and cousins were working on his family’s farm (algae or something weird like that), but he was never cut out for that kind of life.
When he’d been young and was deemed useless just laying about the house, he would sneak away to the local book shops and libraries to help out and read books. He tried to learn as much as he could so that when he was old enough to leave, he’d be prepared. So here he was, traveled to a place he’d read of – the Noekamr Plains, at a village where he would train to become a mage. The Sooeteu had always read amazing tales of mages and envied them for the power and skill they gained from that which they read. He loved the idea of being able to get that much power from study and had set out as soon as he was old enough.
Now, he stood calmly at the edge of the town, preparing to leave for the day to fight whatever he could. He had completed a match in the Training Grounds a few days prior and had now purchased real weapons so he could go out and possibly best the local monsters. Oh well, time to get his rear in gear.
