The striped Sooteu was back again for more training. Stick calmly resting over his shoulder, he awaited the arrival of his opponent. Usually it was customary to begin beforehand, but he figured it'd probably be a good idea to wait first today just the same. Better to size up his opponent.

Ariven was nervous and it showed, this was her first training session, depending on if she won or lost her whole rest of her life might be changed today. She'd promised to write her parents about all of her adventures and she couldn't very well write home and tell them about a failure first thing, it just wouldn't do. Spotting her opponent Ariven gripped her stick tighter and nodded politely at them " Shall we" her voice waved a little and the girl winced, maybe she wouldn't have said anything.

"Sure." Heiyuu said, smiling a bit to the Kaillad. Once they'd been given the okay to start, the boy whirled around a bit and swung his stick at the girl, aiming to hit her lightly.

The young girl growled as she tried to duck out of the way but got smacked on the shoulder anyways. Ariven had been a brawler at home not a real fighter just a down in the dirt using her weight and dirty ticks to win type. As the girl swung her own stick at the boy she became determined to outgrow her old style and habits.

He'd have probably continued to say she was doing well for a beginner but her gloating struck a teensy bit of a nerve with him. She sounded like one of his brothers being obnoxious over learning something new that he'd already been good at.
So it was that the boy's next swing at the Kaillad female wasn't intended to be easy going and might actually have been a bit more determined than before.

That one was going to leave a bruise the young Kaillad thought when her opponent hit her again. She gritted her teeth and struck back at him, she wasn't going to give up just yet.

Now the boy was getting at least a bit back into the groove. Swing, turn, dodge, move, swing, turn. Almost like a dance, Fadorra would say, but he wasn't her and didn't think that way. This was a pattern to him - a set of steps that needed to be followed, with only a few variations based on opponent and their behaviors. It was probably a lot more complex than that, but it's what it looked like at first. Either way, he readied and aimed another strike at her.

As she missed again and received another slight stinging smack from the boy's stick Ariven began to wonder if she was cut out for this sort of thing, it seemed like she was destined to lose to the more experienced child here.
Her next attack was a bit wild a swing taken at the boy in frustration.
