Welcome to Critter Haven, which is a quiet and safe facility for any owner to bring their pets of any or all species to wander. However, this isn't your 'Average Joe' / 'Run of the mill' nature walk. True, there are your average animals, such as rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks and so on and so forth. But, Every now and then we might stumble across a new breed. Of course, we haven't explored the entirety of the grounds. Our researchers are still on the search for new species.
Updates will be held in the log below. So keep your eyes open, should we find a newer species.


Much More Recent Activity

That's right, kiddies. Kylin is now hard at work at finishing up these growings! As well as preparing for a new set for a FS!! eek You heard me!! XD Actually... two new sets... But that's beside the point. I'm updating all the growings once they are all complete, so no arguin'...

OH! And D? If you're still around, I need those snakes... again... Comp seems to have eaten thems.

Just so that everyone knows, there will be new things happening around the shop. Jayde and I have talked over some things in regards to the shop status and have decided to narrow down the species list some.
Once things start back up again, the following species will be limiteds or rares:
Panda
Snake
Dragons
Ivanines (Tangle-Tailed Dogs)
Day and Night Kaths (the little ones)

I realize that this pretty much makes the Original Kaths the spotlight of the shop, but that's the way it used to be. The other species being added in makes it difficult for us (me, mostly) to keep up with growings as quickly (and often) as planned.

To add to this factoid, Jayde and I are having to move from the shelter of my G'rent's home into an appartment, which means that there might not be any internet for us after a while until we can get back on our feet and out of our pocket burning madness of spending money (that's mostly myself) so there will be a short time when both of us will be unable to sign on to gaia come mid-late summer until possibly late fall. X.x

Life is hectic, but I'm trying to do what I can when I can. Everyone needs to give some cookies to Jayde for kicking me in the butt to finish ze growings.

Be looking for more adults to arise from the kits and babes. :3

Even More Recent News:
Good news, Folks! Critter Haven now has the permission from Lord Changling (Owner of Castaway Dreams) to allow all Critter Haven Pets into the Dream world (aside from Nowhere, of course since there are rules against that sort of thing.)

Critter Haven and Castaway Dreams are joining forces in the RP world so that any owner from both CH and CD can RP their pets in either environment.

Critter Haven has always allowed other pets from other shops to enter the islands, so now I'm proud to officially place 'Castaway Dreams' onto the Sister Site listing (which is rather small and currently holds only one other shop)... >>;;


Other News:
New changes will be made to the front page within the next week or so in between my spurts of coloring mayhem and there's even a chance that I'll be making a whole new shop thread in order to keep things organized in more efficient manner.
Thanks to all who have been lurking, bumping, spying, and waiting for CH's return. Your patience will soon be rewarded. This much I will promise! :3

Genral Rules
1.) Please do not STEAL, ALTER, COPY, or DISTRIBUTE the line art. If such acts are noticed, Mods will be notified, immediately.
2.) Don't nag the Critter Haven Staff about the status of your wants, needs, and/or pet. We all have a life outside of Gaia and the shop, and I can assure you that your pet and/or needs will be met in due time. We can only do so much with our time.
3.) If you push number 2, You will be warned. I will stress that you not pester us. One warning will send you to the grey list. You're already treading in thick waters there. Should you get another warning while on the grey list, you will be placed on the black list and temperarilly banned from the thread. (Read the lists post for further information.)
4.) Though I really don't mind cursing (for I sometimes do it myself, I would like to ask that every one keep things relatively PG-13. Should you push this, I'll only warn you once before further action will be done.
5.) RP is NOT required. However, I do understand that some of you pet owners out there like to do so. So! We have a guild specially made for further RP. You are in fact welcome to RP in the thread to keep it bumped up, but Darkend Illusions and Critter Haven have made a guild for those that wish to join it. The guild won't be strictly for pet owners, but also for people who have animal blood in their veins.
6.) Only PM Kylinari with your questions, but only if your question isn't answered within these first 15 posts. Everyone who is a part of the official staff will have access to this account in case we have a flat sale and I'm not able to update at the current time.
7.) If you purchase a pet in the child stages, please remember to direct link it up until the adult stage. Once your pet is an adult, please save it on own of your own servers to help us save room for future owners.

Flatsale Rules
1.)Only one pet per person during a Flat Sale. I want everyone to have a chance at getting one.
2.) No whining. That will only get you a warning and set on the grey list. There's always another Flat Sale being planned, so if you don't get it the first time, there's always the next.
3.) Don't place your order on a Flat Sale pet until AFTER a staff member has posted GO! (<-- Just like that... >>;; )
4.) Do NOT take back an order. If you see a pet that you want, please make sure you have the right amount before claiming the pet as your own. All statements are final, so there is to be no editing of the posts...
5.) You can buy for another, but keep in mind that will be your only purchase for one Flat Sale. Again I will stress number 1. We want to be able to give everyone a fair shot in the flat sales.

Auction Rules
1.) Same rules apply for Auctions as they do for Flat Sales.
2.) If someone makes a bid within the last five minutes of the auction, there will be a short amount of extended time (depending on which staff member is holding the auction) added to the auction to allow others to over ride that bid, if they so desire.
3.) If we announce the winner and say that the Auction is OVER then the auction is OVER. Please do NOT bother us any further, or we may get... "angry" ...

Raffle Rules
1.) Again, above rules apply.
2.) Ticket prices will vary due to the amount of work that gets put into the pet up for raffle. However, tickets will not go any higher than 1k.
3.) If there happens to be more than one Raffle a month, and you were possibly a winner within that same month for a raffle, you may NOT participate in the rest of the raffles for that month.

Custom Rules
1. Customs cost 5k for two colors of your choice, and 100g every extra color after that. This is non-negotiable.
2. There will be no line art edits done on regular customs
3. All Customs will start as keys, like everyone elses. There will be no random stages to start from. If you want to purchase an adult only, then wait for one to come out on a flat sale, auction or raffle until we get more views.
4. If you're ordering a custom, make sure to include it either in the thread or in a PM to the colorits with the following detailed description:

Pet Species: (Just say Snake if you don't feel like typing it all out and for the Kaths, Lunar Kath, Sola Kath (day) or Sola Kath (night) ok?... ok...)

F.A.Q.
Q: How can I get one?
A: Easy... Flat Sale, Auction or Raffle... Story contests are also being kept in mind, so be looking for those as well...

Q: Do we have to Role Play?
A: You don't have to. However, Like most shops in the Breedable Kingdom, RPing is encourage and rewarded! For instance, unless you give us a grand reason why you think your pet should be an elder, Only those who consistantly RP will have the right to claim elders..

Q: Can I RP my other pets when I RP here?
A: Yes, you can! In fact, it's encouraged also. It helps alot when you have a pet from one of those shops that requires a certain amount of RPing. You can RP it here and not have to worry about RPing more just to meet your limits! Or you can just have fun with it! All pets are welcome in Critter Haven. It gets wild, and it sometimes gets crazy, but it's always fun!

Q: Pet pls!! biggrin

Q: How much do these cost?
A: It really all depends on the stage, time and effort, and the event in which they're being sold in. We will post the price near the sample picture to let you know.

Q: Does my pet HAVE to be straight in order to breed?
A: Nope! Your pet can have any type of relationship it wants and breed with it's mate without a problem. The critters here in Critter Haven don't follow the... >>;;... er... "birds and the bees" theory as far as makin' behbehs is concerned, so it's perfectly acceptable! biggrin

Q: How many pets are we allowed to have?
A: Up to only six in each species. Further arrangements might be made in the future if someone wants more than such. (Especially if other species start to make their presence known.)

Q: Can we Co-own pets?
A: You CAN co-own pets... BUT! I have to have a reasonable reason as to why... (though I'm not picky and very leniant.) Most of the co-owned pets, however, will mostly be 2nd generation and on... Depending on how many babies a species has with a breeding, depends on whether the owners of the parents share a child or has one of their own.

Q: Will you do a pet-trade with me?
A: That depends really. Who do you want to do the Pet Trade with? And what type of pets do you trade with? Just PM Kylinari or JaydeDragonfly with "Pet Trade Request" as the title and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. We're usually not very picky with trading, but there are times where we have to worry about the pets we currently have in our "homes" so don't be surprised if you get a PM back saying to wait a while before asking again.

Q: Do you take bribes?
A: That's a good question. I personally will take a bribe, but it has to be genuine and pretty intriguing for me to accept. I don't expect to get many bribes for that reason. Jayde on the other hand may or may not take bribes. You'd have to ask her.

The Intro Video
Not too far off the Eastern coast of Isle de Gambino, lies two conjoining islands that represent the shapes of a moon and a sun. They are Lunis Isle and Isle de Soler. Upon these two mystical wonders of land thrives various different creatures and critters just waiting to be discovered! Some gentle, some mysterious, but that's all in the fun! Luckilly, these islands don't contain anything poisonous, so all is safe within wildlife territory.

Kylin: *presses stop abruptly and stands in front of the projector* WHOA WHOA!! That's sounding WAY too much like an intro to one of those Croc Hunter shows you find on Animal Planet....

Jayde: *hides a chuckle and puts on a smug grin* You think you can do it better?

Kylin: With you helping me?! YES! *stands in a triumphant looking pose*

Jayde: *mumbles* Figured as much... *looks up with a sigh* What can I do to help you then?

Kylin: *blinks... then blinks again while dropping her pose with a cheesy grin* Not sure!

Jayde: *rolls her eyes, hiding another laugh*

Kylin: Well, one thing is true about that... thing we just listened to... Isle de Soler and Lunis Isle ARE conjoining islands off the Eastern coast of Isle de Gambino... The two islands DO look like a sun and a moon... And... ummm...

Jayde: And it was right about the animals found on the islands. They can be gentle and Mysterious, but definately not poisonous. As most people would know, if there was something poisonous on the islands, Kylin would surely be dead by now.

Kylin: HEY!!

Jayde: *giggles* What? It's true!

Kylin: *blushes as she sweatdrops* Yeah... prolly right... ^^;;

Jayde: More is still being learned about Isle de Soler. It's still partially new territory. Well, half of it at least.

Kylin: Yep! When we first opened Critter Haven, the facility was perched overlooking the whole of Lunis Isle and the Twighlight Lagoon, which lies between the two islands. Isle de Soler just looked like it was part of some major continent, but further adventuring proved that it was an island! *another triumphant pose*

Jayde: It was an adventure alright... We thought you had gotten eaten by a bear or something...

Kylin: I came back didn't I?

Jayde: *sweatdrops then reforms herself* Well... The newer facility you see before you is on Isle de Soler, the largest of the two islands . Most of the territory in the mountains and on the North Eastern shore have been unexplored by Kylin and myself. Some pets have ventured there under the protection of much larger pets incase something was to go wrong, but no damages have been done.

Kylin: Hey! Enough of the chit chat already! I think they get the idea! Let them look through the shop!

Jayde: Okay, okay... Just let us know if you have any questions or comments, alright? Fan mail and art are greatly appreciated (sometimes rewarded). But go on! Explore the facility and the islands to your hearts content! We'lll only be a post away!

~Kylin blinks and Jayde smiles as they stand in silence for about 15 seconds~

Kylin: O-o;; M-mooples?

Jayde: *sweatdrops* Erm... Ky...? You can cut the tape off now...

Lunis Isle Kathinyans

This size chart was made in relevance to the Kath's actual sizes. In other words... the size chart was made so you can see how big they REALLY are... x.x

The Key stage is the most insignificant, yet significant stage of any Critter within Critter Haven. It's in fact the most boring stage of them all because... they're... well... keys? Recently, it's been proven that the keys of a kath will stay silver for the first week or two of their existance. Only after that week, will they display colors and the detectable male and female genes. However, Keys will not be sold until both the colors and gender have been confirmed.

Ah... At last! After about a week of carrying around a dull, motionless key, you awake one morning to see a Kit in it's place. At this stage, they're very clingy to their owners, thinking them as their lawful parents instead of the obvious. Kits speak broken english during this stage as they're still learning.

3 and 4
After spoiling your kit to no end, you find it start to become a bit harder to control. The wonderful Teen stage is now in effect. This is the stage where your Kath will try and spread their "wings" a bit more - discover new areas and also new faces. They discover what emotions are, sometimes resulting in mood swings, but also resulting in "lurve"... XD Twitterpation is starting to rise. At this stage, they are in fact able to breed, though it's mostly recommended to the Adults and Elders.

5 and 6
Finally, after all the spoiling, growing and exploring, your Kath has at last become an adult. The need for a life long companion grows strong in most Kaths at this stage, though there are a few who are happy just the same to being alone. Kaths also make good guardians. If cared for well enough, Kaths will risk life and limb to save their owners and other "members" of the family as well.

Elders only appear to those that show true dedication and courage to their owners, mates, families, and in fact - themselves. It takes a great deal of wisdom to be an Elder also, but the Kaths who grow to this point are often very prideful of themselves as well for finding out that the one and only true way to succesfully become an elder is by time and love itself. Most Kaths who become elders are often given great respect and also find an undeniable honor to get where they are now.



Snakes

When you first get a Snake, unless upon an event that doesn't happen to be a Flat Sale, it will be a key - just as the Kathinyan's when they start. However, we've found that the Snakes take longer to grow than Kathinyans, so patience is definately needed for this species.

After a few weeks, your key will be replaced by a small Snake form. Luckilly, Snakes aren't poisonous, but the little Snakes tend to think they are. They're a fiesty species and will try to snap at you a few times. Another highlight is that we've discovered that the younger Snakes don't have tiny teeth either. They use their tails to help "shovel in" their food.

3 and 4

Yet another few weeks... AND ALAS!! You small Snake hath grown!! As teens, they tend to have a calm nature, but they won't hesitate to snap or strike if startled, scared, injured or brutally teased (unless, of course, they've been trained to be otherwise tamer than their nature). They're highly protective of their owners at this stage, so keep them hidden should you purposely rough house with a friend.

5 and 6

Dragons

All Dragons start in a Pearl Stage, rather than a key. This would explain why the scanning of the lagoon came up with no pet keys on radar when Ky and her team went on the hunt for a newer species. Pearls vary in color, but each one seems to have tiny flecks of blood residing in them. The base of the Dragon's DNA? Perhaps. Recent observations have shown that the pearls will grow after 1-2 weeks of TLC. Like the keys, owners must keep them warm... Kinda think of them as eggs, only... not? >>;;

After caring for your pearl for a couple of weeks, a small little bundle of dragon joy will emerge. They are rather defensless in this stage and will depend on you for... well... everything... Just keep a good eye on them and hold them often. They love the attention. ^^v

4 & 5

A few more weeks pass and your Dragon will start to explore, finding that the couch makes a perfect bed for them to stretch out on. They tend to start feeling a little left out due to the fact that they can no longer curl into your lap and be petted the same, but they still enjoy all the time they can have with you, and the rest of your "family". Keep a close eye on these teens though. Broken objects are often found in their trail if you don't. Perhaps it's time to give them their own.... den? O.o;;?

6 & 7

Now at their full size, these Dragons have more heart than scales. They're highly protective when it all comes down to it, but they don't show anger often. Though they appear to be viscious, they have been noted to be the most calm species out of the entirety of the islands - really only making an effort for a stern face once things have shown to be leading out of hand. The females tend to be the Motherly form of all the Creatures here in Critter Haven while the Males show to be the main peace-keepers. A dragon is indeed a good pet to have around.

Purely random things happen on the islands of Isle de Soler and Lunis Isle. Sometimes the strange and the unusual. Probably the most common of such strange and unusual acts is the Lunis Isle Kaths becoming elders. eek THAT'S RIGHT!! ELDER KATHS!! O:! *coughs* Anyways. >>;;
The Kath's that become elders are well maintained. They have to be smart and well-loved by others. Why did Omi get that privelege if she's mean all the time? Well, I'll tell you!
Regardless of how mean she always seems to be, she's really warm hearted and helps out around the islands as much as she can. Granted, she does these things when no one is looking, hence why it has yet to be recorded or seen.
Now... When a Kath becomes an elder, they must maintain their pride and abilities. If an elder becomes lazy... Sadly, they poof back into a key and have to start their cycles all over again... x.x ((*Lazy = No RP... Do not get an elder if you think you won't be able to RP with it.*))
Now, let's get down to the nitty gritty. sweatdrop

Rules for Elders:
1- You must be able to RP with your Elder at least once every two weeks. You are welcome to keep a journal or just pop in the shop every once in a while, at least long enough for it to say hi and interact a bit. Though I would suggest to those that give their Elders a journal to send a link to it via PM to Kylinari. That way we can add the journal next to your pet's name in the owners list.
2- The price for the Elder Kath is 50k. Reason being, Elders are completely custom made. Lineart and all. If there gets to be too many Elders in our workings, some poses may be redone due to the lack of... well... poses...
3- You may not... and I'll repeat... You may not send an order for your Kath to become an Elder unless it is marked on the owners list that your Kath is qualified to become one!! However!! If your Kath has reached the adult stage and you think you are able to RP with it once in a while, then you have every right to ask our permission BEFORE you send in an order form. Some questions will be asked, so be prepared for that.
4- If you have an adult Kath that has yet to qualify for Elder, it may be due to lack of activity with your pet in the thread. If that be the case, please PM Kylinari with your request to send in an order form. Again, you will get questioned, but it's nothing to stress over, I assure you.
5- If you are in the green (check owners list to see what I mean) then you can send in the order form without any questions asked. Be sure to have the 50k ready once we have approved your order. Send ALL Order Forms to JaydeDragonfly, please... She is our official lineartist for the Kath Elders, so it will be easier to get an approval if you sent it to her directly. Thank you.

We usually request that you save your adults to your own server to save spaces on our own, therefore, we might not have a picture of your Kath anymore. This helps Kylinari with the colors and whatnot when it comes time to finish your Elder.*))

Clothing: ((*Be VERY specific with what kind of clothes your Kath obtains. If you you have picture references, those would be much appreciated.*))
Weapon: ((*They only get one weapon, so be specific or send a really good picture preference. However, if the weapon description is too elaborate and/or hard for Jayde to draw, she may in fact return a PM to you with another suggestion.*))

Note from the colorist (Kylinari): Don't try to be picky with the colors when you're ordering your elder. I color them acording to the color of your Kath and how I see the colors placing themselves on the elder. If you want to recommend certain colors for the hair and what not, that's fine, just keep in mind that I do several different tests when coloring the elder forms to make it seem as if they'd come from the actual Kath form. That's right! Critter Haven now has familiars! biggrin *throws a party with confetti and party favors all around*

Don't ask for the story behind how the familiars were found... I won't be able to tell yeah, but they are cute and adorable, ne?! mrgreen

Sadly, the only ones allowed to get a familiar, are those with pets already. Familiars will not... *repeats* WILL NOT be sold by themselves until we come up with smaller certs for them, which may be a while...

Familiars will cost 1k (1,000 gold) to be added onto your current pet's cert.

Now that we have pets at Critter Haven, breeding has opened up! Hopefully, all of your questions will be answered and all of the rules will be layed down clearly in the following Q&A, but if not, please feel free to post your questions in the thread or PM JaydeDragonfly.

Ok, so how much does it cost?
5k. That includes one key that can be co-owned between to parents or owned by just one.

What if we want more than one?
That's fine. The second key that you purchace is 2.5k, and all of the others revert back to flatsale price (3k).

Can we co-own if we get more than one?
We ask that you don't, but this is negotiable.

How many mates can my pet have?
Unless there is a 'death' in the CH family (meaning someone drops off the face of Gaia or says that they are no longer going to RP in the thread) all Critter Haven pets mate for life. True Critter love, right? Right.

Alright, so how exactly...?
First off, no kinky stuff. The way furry critters breed is by taking the hair from both parents and twining it together to make a necklace. This is welcome to be RPed in the thread, thougho n a side note, it's usually done by the lagoon where they can find privacy.

What if we have elders?
It's done the same way. If you want to RP kinky stuff on your own time, that's fine, but please keep it out of the thread. This kind of RP will result in Graylisting.

Also please note that elder breedings are more expensive. They are going to be 50k, just like the regular elders. Why? Because they result in an 'elder' child--beginning from a key, and growing directly into an anthro. They are also completely custom: please follow same order form as with the regular elder, except they get a toy instead of a weapon.

Do you allow same-sex breedings?
Yes! The way that critters breed allows this. Also, Critter Haven itself has respect for love of all kinds--we ask that you do, too.

Well, how do I get one?
Please post your orders in the thread as well as PMing the colorist you want to be working on your new arrivals using the following order form:

Parents (Critters):
Parent(s) sending trade(s): (username)
Keep more than one key?: Yes/No
Username(s) adopting key(s):
(name(s) to be sent to Kylinari after the genders have been determined, and please specify if the keys are going to be co-owned.)

Sorry, but number and gender is decided by rolls of the dice that (theoretically) immidiately follow your post in the thread. Better luck next time.

How many keys are there in a...whatever?
The 'litter' of new keys is called a clutch until they grow into kits. Then they are called a litter. And their number can be between two and five.

Do we have to RP the couples in the thread before breeding?
Not necessarilly, but it is preferred. Also, even if you don't RP that two Critters are a couple, they cannot breed with any other Critter. **points back up to where it's said that Critters mate for life**

What about breedings of critters that dont' have fur?
Those will follow shortly. Currently, we don't really have enough out do to a lot of breeding anyway, but I'll try and post something soon.

Likes (in Pets): I'm not too thrilled about RP intesive pets. HOWEVER, there ARE in fact a slim few that I will make an acception for... If anything has Wonderful or Exceptional linart/colorations, then I'm definately for them... I love surprises and I definately love plushies (though I have yet to aquire such items) so surprise away, if you feel it'll work as a bribe! wink
Favorite Coloration of Pets: Black with a bright color streaking through the hair/fur. My only current pet to show as an example is Sonstine. Bright colors in my mind consists of Neon Green, Bright Orange, Bright Yellow, White, Bright Red, and Bright blue. Other colors that I'll accept with blacks is Crimson, Evergreen, Navy, and Indigo. ABSOLUTELY NO PINKS!! I'm allergic to pinks... >.O
