Sea happily ran down the road to the Pokemon Lab. She had stayed up all night long just so that she could be the first trainer in line for the PERFECT Pokemon. It's gorgeous eyes, it's shining blue skin...It was the most beautiful creature on the planet. And SHE was going to get there first! As she ran, her rival, Nick, began jogging alongside her. "What are YOU doing here, Sea?" He asked, smug as ever. "I'M going to get Totodile, the greatest Pokemon EVER! And he's going to be my partner." Nick grinned evilly, "Not if I get there first!" It was now a mad race to the Lab. Sea jumped over mud puddles, trying to keep her coat and shoes clean. Nick didn't care at all, and he simply splashed through the mud. Sea gasped for her breath. Nick was getting away! Sea was forced to stop her mad rush to catch her breath. She watched sadly as Nick began to enter the Lab....."What do you think you are doing!? You're going to get my Laboratory muddy, you nasty boy! Go get cleaned up, and come back later!" Professor Elm shoved Nick out the door, and into the bushes. Sea laughed as she skipped past the hedges, where Nick's muddy and embarassed face poked out. "That's what you get for messing with me." Sea smiled, winking down at her beaten rival. She walked triumphantly into the Lab, ready to claim her perfect Pokemon.... As soon as she entered the sacred room, her perfect Pokemon lept into her arms. "Totodile!" He shouted, licking her face. "I knew just as soon as I saw you, this was the Pokemon you wanted." Elm stood behind a large machine. Now it held only two Pokeballs. He held out the third to Sea. "If you want to, you may kiss the bride." ......Wait.....WHAT!?!?!?
Sea sat up in bed, shocked by her dream. She glanced at the clock....It said 6:30. Excellent. She was still bright and early. Sea hurridly put on her clothes and shoes. "Good bye, Littleroot!" She shouted as she made her trek toward the Lab. (And hello, world.....)

The morning sun began to penetrate the thin lace curtains in Day’s room and flooded the room with an amber colored light, signaling that it was time for her to wake up and get her first Pokemon. She yawned and looked at the family’s Doduo who slept in the corner of her room. Its feathers were slightly burnt from past battles with fire Pokemon, and his pink skin underneath had scars that marked strikes from electricity. “Goodbye Aaron, I have to go to the lab today.” He heard her words clearly without opening his heavy eyelids, and knew why she was leaving. Not moving, the bird waited for Day to walk out of the room. He opened his eyes, which had a glint in them. Day next visited her parents, both of whom were still unconscious, and kissed them both on the forehead and waved farewell as she exited. She loved them very much and would not forgive herself if something happened to them while she was away and she did not say goodbye. Next to the door was her bag, packed the night before with clothes and provisions for the everlasting journey ahead. As Day walked away, she took what she knew would be her last look at the house for a while. The faded blue and white paint made it look lonely, and it already seemed as if she had been away for a while. She turned and fought back tears of both frightening excitement and sorrow to continue to the laboratory. Doduo pecked at the lock on the front door. He had decided to come with Day to remind him of when he traveled with her mother when she trained. Calling out, with one final blow Aaron unlocked the door. He chased the straight trail and caught up with Day, who jumped in surprise when she saw the figure race up to her. “Aaron, what? Why are you here?” She asked without really expecting an answer. The old Doduo dipped his head to give Day a ride, and she graciously accepted, climbing onto his small back. So smooth was Aaron’s stride that the forest seemed to move instead of him. Mankeys dropped from their habitats in the trees and Spinaraks ran out of the foliage to watch. They zoomed past everything until the pair reached the hill where Professor Oak’s lab was, and Day jumped down and patted Aaron’s head. “Thanks buddy.” She said, still dazed from the ride. Aaron stayed at the bottom while Day proceeded to the wide, bustling building that some called The Pokemon Center.

Sam awoke before the dawn. Yawning, she got up and stretched. Looking sleepily around her room, she glanced a poster that was tacked to her wall. On it were pictures of different "starter" pokemon, as they were sometimes called. Today's the day!! Rushing over to her nightstand, she quickly washed her face in a small bowl of water. Sam noticed her reflection. My hair's a mess! I can't go to the lab looking like this... She picked up a small comb and began to get rid of her "bedhead." Without realizing it, Sam began to hum quietly to herself. Suddenly unsure, she said "Do Pokemon like music? I never asked the Professor. I guess i'll have to figure it out on my own." Still thinking to herself, she made her way over to the closet. She looked at the clothes for a moment, and then took out a pair of jeans. Then, she grabbed a jean jacket and a black shirt. She put her clothes on just as the sun began to rise. Once Sam was finished getting ready, she took the poster from the wall and left her room. I wonder what one I should try to get? Would it like me? She was so deep in thought that she almost collided with her mother in the hall. "Oh, sorry Mom!" she quickly said. "Don't worry, dear. I was just about to come get you. There is something that I want to give to you before you go." Her mother took out a necklace with a shard of moonstone on it. The necklace had been her mother's for years. Sam didn't know where it came from. "T-thank you Mom! I'll treasure it!" Her mother kissed her forehead and hugged her. "Make sure you call, alright?" She took the necklace and put it on. Then Sam put on her backpack and set the poster on the table. After wiping her eyes, she winked and dashed out the door. "See you later Mom! I'm off to start my adventure!"

THUD!
“Mehae!” The incompressible moan of the thing that had hit the floor twitched slightly as it realized exactly where it was. Like a Weedle, it wormed its way out of the mass of lime green blankets that had fallen with it. Until a head popped out of the mess. Shaking away sleep the boy slunk himself back up onto the bed, dragging the blankets behind him. He wiggled back into the bed until he felt comfortable. Just out of curiosity his ice blue eyes drowsily stared at the poke center shaped clock on his bed side table. His eyes widened and he quickly kicked away the horrid shade of blanket. With haste, he changed getting into the cloths splayed across the floor of his room, grabbing his satchel he stuffed in a number of items he thought important. Whether or not they were actually important was debatable.
Last of all he grabbed his winter hat shoving it over his head and pulling on the long strings that fell down either side, until he covered his eyes, then he pulled it back up by the pompom. Mentally he went through his list, jacket: check, hat: check, bag: check, spare pokeballs, potions, and food, check, check and check. Grinning he sauntered down the stairs, it was slightly chilly out, he was glad for his jacket but yet he still felt cool. Once in the kitchen he made some quick toast, in the image of his metal toasted he squinted and moaned lightly, hitting himself in the head as he found the source of the draft. Sprinting back up the stairs he put on some jeans and dashed back down a bit too fast this time. Slipping he crashed straight into the wall at the end of the landing. Falling to the floor he heard the toaster pop while he took inventory of his new bruises. Grabbing the toast he shoved it in his mouth and ran out the door slipping his shoes on as he went.
Finally outside! What a day it would be! He was excited, it wasn’t hard to see why. He finished his toast as he walked to Professor Oaks. The sun was bright with glee. Fargo kept up a speed walk, hoping against hope that he wasn’t late. He sped down the worn out dirt path to the Professors house. Fargo wasn’t paying much attention to where he was running and saw a Diglet right in front of his path, he leaped over the little pokemon! Laughing as he kept up his momentum, he looked back briefly to make sure the little guy was alright. Not paying attention Fargo slammed into by a Machamp. It was lugging a lounge chair into his neighbors house. Fargo found himself on the ground for the third time that day, but didn’t have time to think about his over-excitement. He got back up and flew past the apologetic movers. Sliding into the Professors Lab, Fargo huffed out “Am I late?”

"I couldn't sleep." Leonie's voice was flat, her sea green eyes rimmed with dark circles as she stared up at the frightened looking lab assistant who was in the middle of unlocking the door. It was quite obvious this young girl was telling the truth. When the assistant wandered to the lab to start getting it ready for the influx of trainers that would come that day, he found a little.. blue and brown stick of a girl sitting on the ground in front of the door. She had looked like death warmed over.. with slippers on. Her curly auburn locks were pulled back in a rush attempt to look presentable, her form was covered in a rather worn looking cotton shirt and loose boxers - her pajamas. "Please let me in." Soft lips formed into a pathetic pout, one that most definitely didn't work on the thoroughly creeped out assistant. "I got to get my Pokemon." Unlike many of the young trainers running themselves silly trying to get their first Pokemon, Leonie didn't seem to have that much of a preference.
With a sigh, the assistant had clucked his tongue and opened the doors, watching through fairly skeptical eyes as the girl sprinted inside. Leonie’s slippers had squealed on the floor as she stopped to look at a glass case containing a few shiny looking red things. “What’s that?” she asked, fingers tapping on the glass.
“Don’t touch that!” And so it went on, Leonie wandering around aimlessly, touching things that didn’t need to be touched, prodding things that seemed to be almost alien technology, until the arrival of Professor Oak came at 6 o’clock. She heard the whispers between the bewildered looking professor and the tired assistant – “But it’s six!” “I could not get her to leave, sir –“ – and so on and so on. Eventually, the petite young girl clasped her hands behind her back as Professor Oak faced her.
“All right, Leonie, let’s get you your Pokemon and get you home, hopefully..”

"PRRRIIIIIIIIII!!!"
*SLAM*
The alarm was almost unnecessary at this point, as its intended target had been wide awake for hours now. Normally, she wasn't much of a morning person at all, but for some reason, Samantha Hakan had been lying in bed, staring restlessly at her ceiling long enough for the sun to climb over the horizon and begin its slow progression across the sky. She'd been waiting for this day for a long time now. Granted, she was a little older than most starting Pokemon trainers at the 'ripe, old age' of 18, but life had taken precedence over Pokemon journeys until she finished school. Not that she minded.
Smiling fondly at the Pidgeot-themed clock on her bedside table, she felt grateful that she'd packed her bags the night before with everything she could possibly need. That left the morning relatively simple and feeling less rushed. Throw on some clothes, grab her bag and breakfast to go, then she was out of here! Simple, right?
Funny how those things never seem to work out just right.
Before long, she found herself hopping into the kitchen on one foot, trying to pull her other sock on, bag hanging precariously from her arm as she snatched a couple granola bars from the cabinet. Slipping her shoes on as she dashed out the door, she didn't even bother putting them all the way on as she rushed down the pathway. Fortunately, she'd said her goodbyes to her parents the night before, since they got up uber-early to head to work. She was finally free!
She pushed her pace enough that she burst into Professor Maple's lab only two minutes late by her watch.
"You're late."
"As usual," she quipped back with a smirk. "So, what's new? Come on, cheer up; you're finally getting me out of your hair today."
"That's right, I am," Maple teased back good-naturedly. "I'll be losing a good lab assistant, but gaining a valuable field researcher. I suppose it all evens out. So, do you have a certain Pokemon type in mind?"
"You're kidding, right?" She laughed, shooting the Prof a bemused look. "I mean, come on. How long have you known me? That, and 'Hakan' means 'fire.' My starter has been destined from my birth!" she posed melodramatically, drawing a chuckle from the professor who tossed a Pokeball in her direction.
"Good luck. And don't forget to pick up your Pokedex on the way out."
Smiling, she caught and clutched the Pokeball close to her chest, nodding enthusiastically. 'Old' she may be in the typical ten-year-old trainers' eyes, but she certainly acted like a kid fairly often. It was a wonder anyone ever took her seriously. That didn't matter though; they would now, now that she had her first official Pokemon partner...

I jogged down the street with an unusually bouncy gait. I would be skipping in excitement, if it wasn’t so much slower than jogging. I just couldn’t wait to get to the lab! The day was finally here when I’d get my first pokemon and I didn’t want to be late!
Of course, I still had yet to choose which pokemon I would pick. There were pros and cons to each one, and I had to think carefully about the pokemon I wanted to be my partner for the entirety of my time as a trainer.
…Or at least that’s what logic was trying to tell me. A more impulsive part was saying ‘get a Fire-type, you know you want to.’ I’d always have a preference for Fire-types, though I couldn’t tell you why. My impulsive side managed to come up with some rather good arguments as to why Fire was the logical choice, though my logical side kept producing counter-arguments. It was almost like there were two little grumpy people in my head who were insisting their way was better, and it kind of amused me.
Suddenly my foot got caught on a fallen branch in front of me and I nearly fell over. After I regained my balance, I looked around and found I’d gone the wrong way. I was so lost in though that I didn’t notice I’d walked right past the street I needed to turn down to get to the lab. Not really a good start to a pokemon journey; If I almost get lost on my way to the lab, how did I expect to find my way through forests, mountains, and wherever else my journey might take me? And I’d need to me much more observant if I wanted to find pokemon. I extracted my foot from the branch and turned around, heading for the right street.
I paid careful attention to where I was going for the rest of the trip, but that meant by the time the lab was in sight I’d given no more thought to what pokemon I should get. The door was already open, and I saw other new trainers heading in, so I didn’t have time to be standing around thinking if I wanted to get my pokemon. Looks like I had to go with my impulse. I could almost hear the little grumpy impulsive person in my head cheering, while the logical one sulked. I chuckled at the funny image as I headed into the lab to get my first pokemon.

What a life it would be, she dreamt... Having a Pokemon to fight by my side and friends to follow along the way on my journey. She sighed as she rolled over, her lips smacking as they rolled into the pillow. Pokemon starters danced in her head, and a charmader blew a warm flare as she shivered, the others dancing in a circle with wide grins. A smile crossed her face as she rolled over again, something wet meeting with her nose. She twitched as her eyes opened to find big golden eyes met with hers....
"MOM!!!..."
A young but professionally dressed and "ready for work" mother came running into her room, stopping to shake her head at her odd but favorite and only daughter, Holly. She had found her daughter with their family pet at her nose; her mothers first owned and evolved pokemon, Arcanine. It smiled down at Holly as it had her pinned onto her own bed, little flares sparking from his mouth as he panted.
Pushing the large canine Pokemon off, it grinned goofily as she glanced at the clock, its head turned in confusion at her sudden distate for him.
With a high pitched scream, Holly ran to pack, going through all of her rediculously over-crowded drawers.
"Holly, I told you that you would be late! Your brother has already woken up to receive his Pokemon... Hes just left the Professor's lab and is already on his journey." Her mother finished looking out the window to the town, knowing that this peice of information would anger Holly. Sense Holly and Kevin, her twin, had been born together... They had been rivals in becoming the very best at everything.
Grabbing her terribly over-sized pack, Holly darted by her mother, leaving a slight peck on her cheek, and made her way to the Professor's Lab... She ran down the road, constantly slinging her pack back onto her shoulder as it bounced around and scanned all of the other kids around her, their Pokemon at their heels smiling up at their new Masters. Holly snorted enviously, but hurried still. As she made her way up to the Professor's stairs she sighed, throwing her pack to the ground as she drug it up the stairs. But before she could make it halfway the door slung open and a small Raichu looked up at her with a bow and lead her in.
Following the small orange rat Pokemon as its long tail swayed in front of her, Holly met with the back of the Professor in a large, white lobby. Her body stiffened as he turned around to smile at her. She grinned nervously, hoping that there were any Pokemon left, for her.
Easing her nerves, the thin but kind-faced Professor spoke the words she had been waiting for...
"Here are your choices... From underneath this dome will be your first Pokemon, Holly.... Are you Ready?"
She was ready...

"AAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhh!"Fiznit screamed as he bashed in the "off" button on his roaring alarm clock! "I hit the snooze button!? I'm late!" He cried as he ran down the steps of his house! "Bye Mom, he shouted as he went to open the door. However the door's handle was stuck! He panicked and spent a minute trying to wrestle the door open! When finally, he just kicked the door down! "Sorry, mom! I'll fix that later!" he shouted as he dashed down the road towards the pokemon lab! "AAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhh!" Fiznit screamed again when he saw the larege line in front of the pokemon lab! I'm late! I'll never get a pokemon now! I knew I should have got up earlier! He ran up and grabbed a plac in line, hoping to get a pokemon! He positioned himself in the back of the line behind a nice looking girl who turned around and gave him a wierd stare! "What' is there something on my face?" asked Fiznit. "No" replied the girl, "but why are you wearing pajamas?". "oops" replied Fiznit, "I guess I left so early and in such a hurry that I forgot to get dressed!" he blushed. "I hope I'm not too late" Fiznit said to himself, "I must become a pokemon master! I hope charmander isn't taken yet! but it probably is...", "Well, hopefully if I'm lucky, I can still get a pokemon! A totodile,or cyndaquil wouldn't be too bad! I wouldn't be totally disappointed with a squirtle either...", "But I so hope that charmander is still there!" he moaned. "umm... why are you talking to yourself?" replied the girl. *Fiznits stomach growled* "I need breakfast" screamed Fiznit as he dropped down into the fetile position in his place at line! As the line marched on, he rolled his way forward, until... He was next! It was his turn! He stood up and ran straight into the lab! ...

Yumi reached over and smacked the alarm clock next to her bed several times till it finally shut up. Sitting up she stretched and yawned. Grumbling she swung her legs out of bed and groggily made her way to the bathroom. In the middle of brushing her teeth she suddenly remembered what today was. Quickly she finished getting ready and raced down the steps nearly colliding with Ryan, her guardian, who was just going upstairs to wake her.
"Best hurry." he said kindly. "Or you'll be stuck living here again till he gets some more starters."
She punched him hard in his arm and stuck her tongue before hurrying down the stairs, Ryan and his laughter following her. She grabbed her backpack and ran out the door.
"Yumi, don't forget to think about which Pokemon you want!" Ryan shouted from the doorway. Yumi ignored him, but had the urge to give him the bird, and raced across the path and jumped over the fence into the field of Pokemon Ryan watched. Though she knew she was in a hurry she stopped once or twice to pet some of the Pokemon she knew well, while others butted around her for attention.
"Okay guys I really have to go." She said trying to detangle herself from the Pokemon. "I have to go get my own Pokemon." The older ones gave her one final rub before walking away dragging the younger ones with them. Shaking her head Yumi ran across the rest of the field and jumped the fence, heading toward the Lab.
Halfway there she heard a rustling behind her. Turning she saw nothing, but she felt eyes watching her. Staring hard at the scenery around her for another moment, she turned back towards the Lab and nearly jumped out of her skin. A Lucario was standing in front of her with a smug look on her face. In her hands was a small container with a piece of paper attached to it.
"Fareye don't do that!" Yumi scolded. Fareye was one of Ryan's newest Pokemon and she wasn't above playing tricks. Fareye handed over the package before running back off into the under brush.
Yumi turned the container over in her hands and glanced at the note. It was folded up very neatly with Ryan's handwriting on it addressing it to her. She crumpled it up and shoved it in her pocket before opening up the container. Inside it was one small slender feather on a chain. Taking it out carefully she turned it over in her hands after she placed the container on the ground. She already knew what the note said now. This belonged to Raz Ryan’s first Pokemon who had died before they moved. Quietly she took the necklace and unclipped the feather and stuck into her brown hair. Now she was ready to start her adventure, Raz would protect and guide her just as he had with Ryan. She turned and raced towards the Lab.

The house was quiet, still as the night wore on, or so it seemed. Within it's walls stirred a beast, restless as it thought about the day to come. Not really a beast, but much more beastlike than other gaians, especially in Barton Town. Her skin was covered in fur, the same color as a Persian. She even had ears similar to one, replacing and taking residence of the human ones. A tail completed the odd being with a tassel at the end. Her hair was long and black, she had the girls breezy cut. She wore a red 90's vest, black 90's pants, red 70's shirt and a 90's red visor. This was not her house, and the adults living in it were not her parents. Amber had a confusing past. She was born in Africa, a rare lion originally. A shaman thought differently and changed her into a partial human. Somehow, recently, she had discovered that she could change into a full lioness, though she was not yet an adult at eleven years.
A light flickered on in a small cave-like room with blankets and pillows covering the floor, it was nearly impossible to see. This was her room, and she liked it this way. Her foster parents weren't rich, they were just above the poverty line. It didn't bother her, Amber didn't want a lot of things, and she could get her own food, however much her foster parents disliked her methods. But today she would leave all that behind, as she eagerly waited for the sun to rise. Today she could get her starter Pokémon, and her journey would begin.
Amber was getting tirelessly restless now, and she decided to go ahead and pack everything she needed into a worn backpack. She didn't know how much longer the thing would last, but it was all she had. The lioness slowly padded down the hallway and out the door of the rundown house, deciding to leave early and wait for the lab to open there. Maybe she would be able to sleep then, get out this restlessness.
As she walked her tail stayed stationary behind her and her head hung low. She had written a note to her foster parents and left it for them, but it would never be enough to express her thanks for taking her in like that when they could barely provide for themselves.
The sun was beginning to rise, and the Finchly were already making sweet music for her ears. Hampy scampered around groggily, and there was an occasional Droolicat. Perhaps she would catch one on her journey. As Amber walked she thought about which Pokémon she wanted, Prof. Maple had six. Before long she was at his lab door and she sat, finally deciding on the Pokémon she wanted. Now it was only hours before this door would open and she would choose Cyndaquil as her first pokemon, from the Johto region starters, soon a force to be reckoned with.

And here we have it folks, our new Pokemon master. The sounds of people's cheers filled the stadium as the young girl stood with a smile on her face as she told her pokemon how proud she was; her golden eyes twinkled.
Ringgg!! The sound of the noisy alarm clock went off in her ear and woke her from her peaceful dream. A tired groan escaped her lips as she rolled over on the other side of the bed. "Neh, why must you always wake me up when my dreams are getting good?" The young girl asked as though waiting for an answer from the alarm clock. With a sigh, she slowly pulled the covers from her head and lifted her body as she sat in her bed. The morning sun's rays shone through her window, reflecting warmly on her face, as birds sung their morning song. She blinked slowly and streched while a yawn escaped her lips. Glancing over towards the once noisy clock, she sighed as she read the time. 6:30 AM. Despite the fact it was way to early for her, she knew that what was to happen today will make up for waking up early. Today she was to get her first pokemon; something she had always dreamt about. Getting off of her bed, she carefully stepped over a sleeping eevee, as she headed towards her closet; picking out her clothing and getting changed.
Running down the staires, her foot steps sounding like a group of galloping horses, she made her way past the kitchen into the den as she frantically looked for her backpack. From the kitchen, she heard her mother's voice as had made some breakfast. "Aren't you going to eat anything before you leave?" her mother asked. From in the den, the girl looked up at her mother and shook her head. "No, I'll pass." she answered as she packed some empty pokeballs into her bag. Her mother smiled as she watched her daughter, the image reminding her back when she was getting ready to get her first pokemon. With a shack of her head, her mother released a gentle sigh. "You have everything you need?" her mother asked. "Yeah, I think so," the girl replied. "Well good luck," her mother replied with a kiss on forehead. The girl nodded her head and kissed her mother back as she headed for the door.
With shuffled feet and a fast pace, the light brown haired girl hurried herself to the Professor's lab. The sun shone down on her causing her golden eyes to twinkle as clouds moved across the skies. As the lab drew up ahead, a smile spread upon her lips as her dream was finally coming true. One in which she would get her very first pokemon and start her journey. This was it, it was now or never. Standing at the door a gentle sigh escaped her, she slowly reached for the lab door and walked in.

"Eek!" Popai screamed. Something was rubbing him in his dream. It looked like something unattractive, probably some kind of weird creature, but it was still freaking him out. Popai mumbled in his sleep, but something warm and fruity spread on his cheeks. He gently opened his eyes and threw off the blanket. Unfortunately, the blanket wouldn't budge. Something was holding it. He rolled his eyes and looked up, staring at the woman in front of him. "Ohh.. this must have been the annoying creature that bugged my dream. It was a nice one too.." Popai thought. He was truly annoyed, but he wasn't any longer after his mom reminded him of something he'd forgotten during his sleep. "Dear, it's time to pick out your Pokemon. Which one are you aiming for?" She asked. He took out his journal, which had some crumpled paper and some other tools he'd need. He packed all the things he thought he needed in that little book. There was a map of the city, a list of all the Pokemon, and a little comic book for if he has to wait in line. He was usually quite organized, unless in school, where he slept through the classes. "Golly! I'm just on time!" Popai shouted. He quickly jumped of his bed and held up his toy Pokeball. "I choose you, Cyndaquil!" He acted. He wanted a Cyndaquil for a while, and here is his chance. If not Cyndaquil, then Chikorita. He brushed his teeth, and flossed, just in case the others laughed at him. The rushed outside with his journal and gulped down a glass of warm milk. There were still some toast and a banana on the table, but his eyes missed it. He ran out the door without even saying goodbye to his mom. "Tomorrow I start my adventure!" He said, eyes shining.

The sun was barely peeking over the horizon when the 14-year old girl woke up from a restless sleep. Her dreams were plagued with dreadful “what-ifs”, but she was absolutely determined not to let them bother her. Nothing could go wrong in the day she was going to get her first Pokemon!
“Bye mom!” Piney shouted out after a rushed breakfast. She grabbed her bag and slammed the door behind her before her mother could have a chance to react.
“That girl…” The mother muttered, face buried in a palm. “She acts too quickly. Someday she’s going to fall head over heels, but I still am proud of her…”
The soon-to-be Trainer already was already sitting at the lab’s steps when her watch read 7:30 in the morning. She was immensely relieved to find no one else waiting, knowing that it meant that she had the first pick of starters. Hopefully.
The door of chrome steel slid open, and a young face peered out. The eyes shifted hesitantly before catching the sight of Piney.
“Ah! You startled me… My my. You’re an early bird aren’t you?”
The girl smiled and held out her hand to the professor. “I was eagerly anxious, so here I am! Name’s Piney.”
He stuck out his own hand and shook Piney’s gently. “I’m Professor Oak. I guess being ‘eagerly anxious’ as you put it is a good thing, seeing how you’re the only person here. And that means…”
“I get the first choice! I know! Can I come inside the lab pleeeeeeeeeease?” She begged, hopping up and down.
Professor Oak chuckled and swept his hand through the doorway. “Whether that’s a good thing or not is hard to tell right now. But please do come in…”
Piney’s eyes were bulging when she entered the lab. Nothing was made of anything other than steel, plastic, and glass in here, save for themselves. Her fingers itching in excitement and anticipation, they hovered above some delicate looking machines.
“Ah! My dear, it would be best not to touch anything you don’t recognize.” The professor warned. “Some Pokemon here do not like to be agitated early in the morning…”
“Including the starter Pokemon?” She asked, wondering where they were held. There were rows of red and white spheres aligned on shelves, but they don’t seem special enough.
Professor Oak made a motion to follow him, and the girl followed.
“Piney, when you’re choosing a Pokemon, you’re not choosing a battling machine. You’re choosing your lifelong friend, a companion for all time. So I ask of you to treat him or her like a human, or more.”
He pushed a button on a glass dome, and it opened up to reveal six Pokeballs, waiting for a soft hand of a Trainer to grab it and release the Pokemon inside.
“If you agree with I said, then please. Go right ahead and choose one…”
