Welcome to Ghosteria Concept Contest! This event will allow all you Gaians out there to come up with some great ideas for a Ghost!

General Rules of Conduct
    Maturity Levels - Now, we aren't the most mature people on the planet either, but please show some self-respect, and don't go throwing a tantrum in the middle of the thread if something goes wrong.
    Clear Communication - No chatspeak, leet, or tExT tHaT LoOkS lIkE ThIs. It's annoying and damn hard to read. XP
    Outside and Personal Drama - Leave it at the door.
    Respect - Please respect all other people in the thread.
    Good Sportsmanship - Display proper conduct; Do not discourage others from participating in the ongoing event.
    Cheering Squads - Don't bring friends in to cheer specifically for you and discourage others. Same rule applies to spectators.
    Have Fun! - Yeah, we have quite a few rules, but they're just to make sure everyone can have a good time. ^^


Flatsale Rules
    All Flatsales are RP Prompt Based - Except in VERY FEW cases, a response to an RP Prompt will be expected for a flatsale. This is a roleplay-required shop, after all.
    Your Own Work - Write your own, original responses to the RP Prompts. If you're not sure how to respond, ask a question, and any staff member present will be happy to answer. Any person caught plagiarizing will be banned from the shop, and a moderator may be contacted depending on the severity of the offense.
    Editing Entries - Editing entries to fix grammar and spelling errors is allowed, but please do not drastically alter your story.
    Submit Only One Response - Please enter only one response to the RP prompts, unless stated otherwise.
    Proxying - You may not proxy for someone else/find a proxy for yourself in flatsales. Since FS's are RP-Prompt Based, we expect you to write your own responses.
    Co-Owning - You may not co-own ghosts unless specifically stated otherwise.


Auction Rules
    Bidding - Bid only what you have. All bids in must be in Bold Red.
    Co-Owning and -Bidding - Co-bidding is allowed for this auction, as it is for two ghosts. However, each ghost may only have one owner.
    Proxying - Proxying is allowed.
    Bidding may include - Pure gold, donation/monthly collectible items, and event, rare (trunk and box), and fishing items if their value is over 30K.
    Item Values - All items are valued at lowest market price (Tektek.com prices). If an item is used in a bid at a certain value, that is the value of the item for the rest of the auction.
    Totals in Bids - Please total up your bids and post a final value.
    Snipe Guard - If bidding lasts to 10 minutes before the auction ends, 10 minutes will be added to the time of the last bid, and that will be the auction's new ending time.


Contest Rules - Concept Contest
Because we will have different contests, this set of rules is subject to change. Please reread them each time a new contest comes around.
    Concept Contest - Yep, this is a concept contest, meaning that you, the Gaian, make up everything about your ghost, from physical appearance, to personality, to history, and yes, even how your ghost died. The sky's the limit! Though, there are a few other things you should note [see below].
    Original Concepts - While it's hard to come up with certain things that haven't been used before, try to be as original as you can be.
    NO COSPLAYS - Self-explanatory, but you know why it's bolded and in red? Because we know what sneaky little people some of you can be, and we WILL be watching for concepts that just happen to model after non-OC characters. Please, just don't, okay? D:
    Judging Concepts - Smude and Rain (mainly) will be judging entries, with Remi being the final judge as to whether or not she will want to draw your ghost. Please respect their decisions, but don't worry too much - we're pretty lenient and welcoming of whatever you might want to come up with.
    Follow the Gaia ToS - Other than the NO COSPLAYS rule, all you have to do is be within the bounds of the ToS when coming up with your concepts. Essentially, keep it PG13.

Hello and welcome to Ghosteria's first ever contest! In this event, you may enter a concept/idea for a ghost, and if you're lucky, your idea may be picked to become a full-custom ghost drawn and colored by the very talented Remi-chan!

Contest Dates and Times
Begins: Saturday, June 9, at 4:30 P.M. PST
Ends: Wednesday, June 27, at 4:30 P.M. PST

No more entries will be accepted after 4:30 P.M. PST on June 27, and you may not edit your entries after that time, either. We will be picking two winners for this contest, and the winning concepts will be posted as early as the following Thursday (just so the judges have time to carefully read everything).

Winners must pay the flatsale price of 20K.

Contest Details - How to Fill Out the Form
    What is it? - This is a concept contest, meaning that you, the hopeful ghost-owner, will create your very own, original concept for a ghost. This includes the ghost's physical appearance, personality, history, and how he or she died.
    Making Your Concept: Physical Appearance - This includes all the details on what your ghost looks like, including colors for hair, eyes, and skin. Clothing detail is also important, as is any accessories your ghost might be wearing. Also, if you have a specific facial expression in mind, you can include that, and perhaps elaborate on why they wear the look they do in your Personality description~
    Making Your Concept: Personality - No two people are the same...and since these ghosts were once people, this applies to them, too! How does your ghost act in general? Around people? What is their outlook on life death? Basically, ask questions about how your ghost would act, and react, to things and situations, and write up a personality. They can be silly, serious, anything at all!
    Making Your Concept: History - This section should include your ghost's past life, detailing the people and things who were important to them, as well as important occurrences in their life, and perhaps explaining why they act and look the way they did/do. Be complex - having a good background makes for an interesting roleplay character, and you will be RPing these guys, after all!
    Making Your Concept: Reason(s) For Death - Ah, the most sobering part of your entry...or is it? Perhaps your ghost's death wasn't all that tragic; maybe it was a comical situation (or would have been, given that they didn't die?). But regardless, this section, though perhaps the shortest one you may write, is very important. Your ghost's death will likely become a large part of how they act throughout the RP, as well as affect whether they may be allowed back into the living world later on.
    RP Prompt Response - The Prompts will likely be based off situations within the Ghosteria RP world that your ghost might encounter. Choose one prompt to respond to, and roleplay in the third person on how your ghost would react to the situation presented. As always, use good grammar and spelling to the best of your ability, and try to stay below 1000 words.

Tips from the Judges
    Creativity - Think outside the box, and make a character that is unique. There are a lot of aspects that you can explore, so explore all of them and make your entry the most creative it can be!
    Be Descriptive - Provide as many interesting details as you can. However, use some common sense; don't go on for paragraphs about the exact color of your ghost's hair. But, provide enough detail for the judges to get a clear picture of everything about your ghost.
    'Perfect Characters' - Everyone has flaws. No Mary-Sues and Gary-Stues. Kthx.
    Thesaurus.com? - Keep repeating a word and feel like you need a new one? Thesaurus.com is a good source to use for finding synonyms to words. But be aware that some words might not fit with what you're trying to say.
    Originality - Very out-of-the-box ideas will probably earn you points, but remember that there are certain things that will rub individual people the wrong way, or just be plain strange. Don't try to be so wild that you earn odd stares from the judges, but be original enough so that your entry stands out.

RP Prompts


Prompt #1
Bored of the everyday, usual schedule of wandering about the Mansion, your ghost decides to do a little bit of exploring. He/she has no interest in drifting about the Graveyard either, so instead he/she decides to try and find that area that some of the older ghosts keep talking about - rolling hills and a sea of grass. Well...alright, that doesn't sound too terribly exciting, but it's better than nothing, right? Now...which way to go?

[Roleplay your ghost discovering/exploring the currently-unavailable RP area of the Unknown, the...uh...well, it doesn't have a name quite yet. Be creative with it!]

Your ghost [over]hears one of the older ghosts, a Risen male named Shane, talking with some unknown female voice about the 'keeper of the world'...whatever that means. Shane's always been a peculiar one, but as your ghost continues to secretly listen, he/she hears something about how this Keeper is the one who can let a spirit pass between the Unknown realm and the world of the living. And apparently, that gate is somewhere in the Mansion...time for a little exploring, no?

[Roleplay your ghost exploring the mansion, trying to find the portal which will allow them to pass into the Living World. Your ghost's level of growth should be no higher than Manifested. You do not need to roleplay meeting the 'gatekeeper,' but I bet he won't be too pleased to find your ghost trying to cross over before the time is right...]

Well, more like questions that've come up so far. : P

How many entries may we submit?
Only one, please.

If I already have the reason for death in the History, can I just restate it/summarize it in the Reason for Death section?
Sure, this is fine.

In the Appearance part, are we supposed to talk about the outfit they're wearing along with their physical appearance?
Yup. Try to be descriptive so we can get a clear picture of what your ghost looks like.

May we use reference images or image creators?
We would prefer if you didn't use artwork that isn't originally yours. You may, if you wish, provide a hand-drawn sketch of whatever you want to reference at the end of your written description.
Also, the question arose whether or not entries may include image creators for clothing and other physical description references. These will need to be approved on a case-by-case basis. Please ask in the thread if you seek approval.

What concepts are already taken?
There are no concepts-in-full (everything we're asking you to write about) yet, except for Haikari's 'fire fox' girl, Kyuu, and SilverLynx's Twin Ghosts, Gizmo and Patches. As such, Twin ghosts will not be allowed for this contest.
For ghost appearances that are already taken, please see the main thread for the Owner's List, or the Guild Journals for more information.

What about history and death concepts?
Nothing on histories and reasons for death are really posted yet (as most of the ghosts are still in their Awakened stage), so go ahead and use whatever idea you want to.

Are we allowed to do anthromorphic ghosts?
To be honest, Remi doesn't really like doing them. n_n; If the entry you submitted includes and anthro, the judges will look it over, and if the anthro part of it doesn't work, we will let you know and you may fix it (or choose to leave the anthro part of the ghost out, if it doesn't bear a huge part in the concept).
