Deep in the mucky waters of Gambino's Port laid the ruins of Gaiatlantis, a great city, filled with life and laughter....ofcourse, before it sunk to the bottom of the ocean. Many theories have erupted trying to explain the sinking of this once marvelous city. As years turned to decades and decades to centuries, eventually, Gaiatlantis was forgotten and left to lay in the bottom of the ocean. What nobody knew was that an evolution was taking place and life soon to be restored.

  • 22/12/06 - Andy is going to be away on Winter Break. I'll be driving up to Canada and staying there for most of the Winter Break. This means I won't have access to my main computer where all the Mara files are. Further development of Mara's will not occur throughout break ~ Sorry

FAQ
  • Read before posting your question(s)
01) Where did you get the name "Maraquis" and "Maras"?
- Might sound a little nerdy but the name "Maraquis" was inspired by the neopets city "Maraquan" >W<. As "Maras" is a result of removing the first for letters of "Maraquis".

02) What are Maras?
- A species that evolved from animals on Gaiatlantis O: <3

03) OHH..CAN I BE A GUEST COLORIST heart heart !!!11??/
- You can apply to become a guest colorist by PMing the maraquis mule. Include examples of your past work and what % you want from sales of Maras you have colored. Make the subject "Applying: Guest Colorist".

04) Do I need to RP my Mara for it to grow?
- Maras do not required to be RPed but they will grow faster then non-RPed ones, you'll also be missing out on many features given to RPing along with breeding.

05) Can I get a discount : )????
- Nope, discounts are not available to ANYONE.

06) Why do I have to RP for my Mara to be able to breed ?
- Simple, your Mara needs to mate before it can breed and to mate, your Mara needs to have some interaction with others before forming a relationship.

RP > Relationship > Mate > Breed

07) When can my Mara breed?
- Maras usually breed when they are adults but sometimes, when teen are mature enough, they might choose to breed.

Information on interaction of stages for RPing
Stage 1 (egg): Can't do much but shake a little bit.
Stage 2 (child): Fun and very energetic but gets tired easily, so they cannot go on long journeys/ adventures. Cannot venture off on its own. Slurs words a little bit for it's still learning to speak.
Stage 3 (teen): No longer gets tired easily, pretty strong but still needs to grow a little more. Can venture out on its own but not strongly recomended. Perfect speach.
stage 4 (adult): Strong, Independent and is able to go on long journeys without stopping. Adults are usually looked up to as leaders.

User ImageGrowth of Maras is pretty random but some data was collected and averaged for this:

Egg: Depending on interaction with the egg through RPing the ranges are
4 days (maybe less) to 2 weeks.

Child: Ranges from one week to three weeks.

Teen: Ranges from one week to one month.

Adult: Ranges from two weeks to one and a half months.


Tail Length of Maras
Depending at what stage your Mara is at, the tail length will be different. Bonuses can be aquired through RPing or posting in the Maraquis thread(s). There is no way to determine when your Mara will recieve a bonus but don't worry, if you post and RP diligently, you'll be sure to get one.


Base Length of Eggs: 0 ft
Base Length of Child: 3 ft
Base Length of Teens: 5 ft
Base Length of Adults: 7 ft

Death of Maras
Death can only happen through RP. Owners of their Mara have to RP them to die, and only the owner of the Mara can do so.

Disadvantages of Death: Your Mara can't have a physical affect on others. They can come back as spirits but are not able to touch, feel, taste or smell. Cannot participate in any Mara activites. Are not able to breed as well but still can build a relationship with others for they can communicate.

What Maras still can do: Rp and talk to other Maras in "spirit" form of course

Advantages: There isn't much advantage to death THOUGH, when Mara's die of a noble deed, they might get resurrected into an angelic. The possibility of that happening is pretty low, it's not suggested for owners to kill off their Mara's in hope of it to be resurrected. Chances are, your Mara won't.

**Death will not affect what your Mara looks like on the cert, it won't become some ghost.

Mara Activities (when RPing):
  • Racing - To stay active, Maras like to have friendly races, a formula determines how fast a Mara goes. Who ever gets the fastest speed wins the race.
    Formula: (stage + tail length) x random number (0 ~ 100)

    Explanation of Formula:
    Stage: Means what stage your Mara is at.
    Example: My Mara is a child, it would be at stage 2 so my formula would be (2 + tail length) + random number
    Tail Length: base length of whatever stage your mara is at + tail bonuses you have recieved
    Random Number: Use the post action "random number" and make the generating at lowest 0 and highest 100.

    Sample of a finished formula for a teen with no tail bonuses:
    (3 + 5) x 65 (pretend I got that from the random number)
    My speed would be 530 miles.

    **yes, some people might think this isn't fair that racing is based off stages and that the adults are going to win all races, but this isn't particularly true. Racing is based more on what number you get from the "random number" action.

    example: adult with no tail bonuses gets a 5 on the random number, speed would be 55.
    child with no tail bonuses gets a 89 on the random number, speed would be 455.

    adult < child = child wins

    **for those who aren't good at math, order of operations is included on the formula. Do the equation in "( )" first.

    **Maras in the egg stage cannot race ( no tail >: )

  • Digging - is explained in the 8th post

  • Battling - No official formula on battling. Not an official Mara activity but can be RPed by users. Though, battling does affect your Mara.

    Battling Effects on Maras:
    Death - Maras can be RPed to die in battle. Only the owner of the Mara can determine if his/her Mara is dead. Usually it's a choice of being severely injured (doesn't affect Mara officially) or death.

    **you cannot use special DESTROY THE WORLD UBER GODLY attacks. Users can make up there own attacks (e.g: bite) but it can't be exclusive to them. Once a user makes up their own attack, it is free for others to use it as well.

    **remember not to god mod and control other peoples maras : )

Book of Sights
Tracks Of Elder Maras
  • Big tracks mythed to be left by the original Maras who had set out to map and coordinate the world. Reveals how large they were in size, displays the power of the elder stage.


Seaweed Maze
  • A huge maze that is nearly impossible to get out of. Long seaweeds prevent anyone to see past it's green walls.


Kristul Mountains
  • A beautiful and tall structure that seems to be made out of crystals. Don't be fooled, it's actually a huge Kristul and beware of the darkness that lies within this gem. (Definiton of Kristuls: Possessed crystals that have many dark traits, it lures people in and destroys them with greed.)


Nightmare Clouds
  • Blue clouds which resemble the night sky. Getting too close and breathing in the clouds powder could put anyone to sleep. Once asleep, the great whirlpools pulls the victim in.


Warm Caves
  • Safest place to be in the Mara world. The caves are always warm no matter what season, a great place for eggs and to raise young Maras. Though, it does get quite boring.

Digging really requires a long and strong tail so it's not very good for younger Maras to do this. Rules of Digging:
**You must RP that you're digging, you can't just post a heart.
**Cannot dig for more then 9 times in a row, you have to weight another 10 minutes
**When waiting another 10 minutes, you can't just go off and come back, users must remain active and interact with others
**Spam digging of any kind will take away your privelages, we use common sense when we find spam diggers
