07.23.06 The first Natural Bird series is now over. Congratulations to our winners! Toushin is working dilligently on her massive to do list that will announce the bringing of our new thread, which we are hoping will happen in August. This new thread will have new specifications about growing, activity, breeding, introduce a new pet to the shop (Behemoths), and we may even decide to add in some extra staff to help us out.

07.20.06 The auction series is now open. Good luck! http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13460764

07.09.06 Sometime in the next few months we will be remaking a new thread for the shop. This is being done to accomodate the many new additions to the shop that we're going to be including soon. There is no estimated time of arrival, but when we're ready to do the move we will be notifying everyone.

There are many Hippogryphs being abandoned as of late. We stress that while role play is not required to be an owner, activity IS. We are generally very lenient about when we'll contact you in regards to your Hippogryph, but please remember that we don't want people who buy the Gryphs and never return. It's discouraging to us as shop owners and it tells us you don't respect us, our desires, and our rules. Be aware that if we note you as an inactive owner, you are unable to participate in any activities the shop has, even if it's for a friend. We don't ask that you constantly be in the thread (though it would be nice), but we would like to see you in the thread more than once, and only if that one time happens after we have to send out a PM reminding you to visit.
All Hippogryphs that have not been shown proper ownership etiquette are adopted out to new owners. We give at least a month's leniency before we send a PM and if we do not get a reply, see the PM is not read (or assumed to be deleted if we see that you have been online), or that you don't come to the thread within two weeks time, we will assume that you no longer want your Hippogryph.

We pushed the release of the Natural Bird Series to July 20th. There are still six babies available for auction. Be sure to keep an eye on the thread to find out what time it will be.

06.28.06 After much deliberation, we've finally decided to release a new addition to the shop: Avajis. These are from an old shop of Toushin's, featuring the same lineart, but updated with new shadow templates. Any owners from the original shop are free to request that their Avaji be added to the owners list and it will be done free of charge!
Customs and Pet Trades are now also open as well. We'll be trying to do a Horsefly sale sometime this week or next on top of our Bird Naturals Series, so be sure to keep an eye out!

06.20.06 There is one last weekend of the BPS, which will be ending with a 'Design Your Own Hippogryph' Contest. The winner of this contest will get to have the Hippogryph of their dreams created by the staff, free of charge!
There is a planned event series for Bird Naturals. The six birds in mind are: Lovebird Male, Lovebird Female, Bald Eagle, Red-tailed Hawk, Cardinal, and Blue Heron. No date for these have been set yet but keep an eye out!

06.10.06 The summer has started and we've had two of our major Block Party Summer events. They're all going well and we're hoping more and more people will participate in our games!

05.22.06 This summer, at the beginning of June, we'll be featuring a Summer Block Party. Every Saturday we'll be holding events to win free Hippogryphs, Horseflies, and all other kinds of gifts. There will be sales, auctions, raffles, both for newbies and for owners alike. So, be sure to be here for this!
We're also updating the thread with new images and updated information.

05.10.06 The flat sale is over. Congratulations to all of our new owners!

04.30.06 A flat sale is being prepared for May. This is a Gen II newbie-only flat sale. Like our first flat sale it's a name creation game. It will be followed by a very special auction.

04.16.06 The Kingdom Hearts 2 auctions are over, and we had our Easter Egg hunt today, resulting in fifteen winners. Congratulations everyone!

04.12.06 There's a flat sale expected to happen this Sunday for Easter. Four baby Gryphons will be sold off.

03.31.06 The Kingdom Hearts II auction series begins today! Good luck! You can find the URL in the first post.
http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12841000

03.20.06 Horseflies are now available at a special price of 100 old tin cans donated straight to Toushin! Limited time offer!

03.20.06 Already there has been an announcement made about the Kingdom Hearts II gryphs that will be auctioned on the day of the release of the game. How these auctions are going to be done is not yet known but more information will be posted ASAP.
A new flock has come into birth: the Care-a-Lot flock, which is based entiely around Care Bear cosplays Gryphs. These Gryphs will be given away at random, which can be done via sales, raffles, auctions, ect. So, be sure to keep an eye on the thread, and to participate even if you aren't an owner! You may just luck out and get a Care Bear of your very own!

03.01.06 The flat sale is today! Good luck to all participants!
The Winners: Lady Vincira, Shiaree, ~Masamune~, FireFoxNinetails, and pangolin! Congratulations!
Custom auction is on now until Friday. (:

02.28.06 With one day until the first flat sale, we've already had pet trade offers, and some gifts handed out. Custom information has been added. Since this pet has five stages it costs a lot to get them. Maybe in the future it'll go down but who knows. If you're interested in customs be sure to PM the colorist whose slots are open with information.

02.26.06 The date for the first flat sale ever will be on Wednesday, March 1st. It will start at 3PM Pacific Standard Time and end at about 5PM Pacific Standard Time. It will be a "Creative" Flat Sale. Following the sale will be a custom auction. To read more about the flat sale and auction, please go to the Flat Sale section on the main page.

02.24.06 Created the thread.

Revelation 22: In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, there was the Tree of Life, which bore twelve kinds of fruit and yielded her fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

The great Tree bore many beginnings and bore many ends; it brought forth creation and it brought forth destruction. From its leaves and fruits came life and death. It is knowledge and ignorance, it is strength and weakness, but above all it is power, the power of gods both good and evil. Its red leaves are the symbol of chaos and Hell, the desires of evil, and they are held up by the thick branches and trunk of pristine wood, a symbol of hope and Heaven, its roots made of gold that bury themselves into the green earth. This gold is the wall that separates Heaven and Hell from Earth, lifting them up above and away from mortal eyes.
The tree is surrounded four intersecting rivers that separate the four points of the Earth: North West, North East, South East, and South West. At this very true where the four rivers intersect at one point beneath its roots is where the story begins. Here a mare birthed four unique creatures fathered by the legendary Gryphon: two male and two female Hippogryphs (as they were later dubbed). The Tree of Life lifted its mighty roots and the four rivers rose from the Earth in a powerful geyser that divided the four children bringing them to each point in the world: one daughter to the North and one daughter to the South; one son to the East and one son to the West; and with them they were given three of the twelve fruits from the Tree of Life to bless their future children. Born under the blessing of the Tree of Life and with its fruits the four children were given their names that have since been lost in history, and with their knowledge they brought forth their children with feathers and fur and filled the world with their great gifts.

Newborn ~ At this stage infants are defenseless. They are born alive like mammals with a large coat of downy soft fur and feathers; their wings are very tiny and useless, their eyes are closed as are their ears. This is when the mother and father both take turns watching their clutches and are very protective. Newborn Hippogryphs make very loud chirping noises when they want attention, are upset, or in danger.

Infant ~ Their ears have opened as well as their eyes. Here is where they are most active learning how to talk to their families and other Hippogryphs as well as mobile skills like walking. They still cannot use their wings. Their body is still covered in the soft fur and feathers.

Child ~ The first molt takes place here for the Hippogryphons, their feathers falling upon emerging into their child stage and growing larger so that they may begin to learn to fly. By now they've started to also develop a wider ranger of vocals, including neighs and whickers along with various kinds of chirps and screeches. They may also have learned how to growl.

Adolescent ~ This is where the second molt happens, again, causing the wings to grow now that flight has become possible -- or it should at this point. For males this is also when their mane begins to come in and both sexes have lost their newborn spots. The females also begin to grow their own hair and their tail feathers have stiffened to allow smoother flight.

Adult ~ A third molt happens so that the wings can grow to their full and utmost glory. Here males have finally grown into their large, thick mane (which will also molt several times over their life to grow fuller), and females have a longer softer mane. Tail feathers are flexible and can become stiff or soft at will, and by this time they are capable of breeding with the opposite sex. This is also the point where they can be ridden, growing to about the size of a large horse.

Flock life is very important to all Hippogryphs. There is safety in numbers and even though Hippogryphs are capable of defending themselves on their own, the stability and comfort that flock members can offer is what draws them together. Flocks are any number of Hippogryphs (though at least five must be present to be considered a flock) that are either related or not related, consisting of generally one Alpha Male and one Alpha Female. These two are the ones charged primarily with the defense and safety of the rest of the flock, and are generally chosen through means of combat, at least the males are. The male then takes his choice of a female to be his Alpha alongside him.

There are, at the moment, four primary flocks. Each comes from a different point in the world: North, East, South, and West. These flocks were birthed and created originally by the four Hippogrph Gods. Their descendants are the current Alphas in these flocks, keeping alive the original intentions of the flock which would have been lost on others.

North Flock - The North Flock hails up from the North obviously where it is night most of the year and the temperature drops an amazing amount. Because of this they have an exceedingly thick coat and incredible night vision that puts most Hippogryphs to shame. These Flocks are generally a much lighter color so as to blend more easily in with their surroundings since natural protection (such as trees and rocks) are scarce.
To this flock, the flock is the utmost concern. It is not simply just survival of the strongest or the smartest: it is survival of the entire flock. Family values are held to the utmost importance to the North Flock, and because of this, all Hippogryphs are welcomed with open arms, but any who show signs of selfishness are usually cast out in a fury of talons and teeth and are forever regarded as an enemy to the flock.
Territory - The North Flock territory is ever-consistent of snowy terrain all year round. During the spring and summer seasons the snow is lighter and not as consuming and thus it is easier for them to graze and storms are scarce; winter and fall are a different story. Storms are more consistent and very dangerous during the winter seasons especially since the nights are longer, which is why the flock is always on the lookout for each other. Forests are not very abundant but the ones that do exist are thick and provide the perfect sanctuary to Hippogryphs, and there are numerous numbers of left over dens from wolves that a Hippogryph or two can fit into in order to escape the harsh cold.

East Flock - From the far East where legends are most prominent dwells the wise and ancient East Flock. Their wisdom is unsurpassed by any of the other flocks and they dwell heavily on their heritage and ancestors for help when times are hard, and thank them when times are good. This flock usually consists of great vibrant colors, which allows them great camouflage in a world of gold and red leaves and purple mountains. Their pelts are smoother and change with the temperature of the year, growing thick around winter (if it gets cold enough) and thinner during the summer.
As mentioned, wisdom is the virtue of the East Flock. They are also known for their claims on magical abilities which are not yet proven. They know that the stupid are merely minds needed to be molded into a great ball of wisdom and therefore tend to welcome most other Hippogryphs with an initiation to test the common knowledge they possess. While stupidity is frowned upon, they generally do not outcast their members without just cause such as betrayal.
Territory: Luscious forests of vibrant colors are what the East territory proudly boasts. It also has a great mass of mountains and every season is as beautiful as the last and the next. Fall is the most prominent and is often met with blustery and strong winds that can make flying difficult for infants and children, even adults alike. The winter is fairly nice and rarely are they ever struck by blizzards or other disasters. The summers are just as rare in the production of droughts or heat waves, which makes the lands of the East an ideal spot for living.

South Flock - Where rain pours throughout most of the year is where the disgruntled Hippogryphs of the South Flock live. Despite the beauty of the rain forests and mountains high in the clouds, they cannot often bring themselves to the joy that a stranger would feel upon looking on their home. The South Flock has a rather sleek appearance to their pelt and it looks this way because of the oil that their body natural produces to keep fur and feathers sleek and dry for when the rain falls. Their colors come in a multitude of designs, from dull earthy colors like the West flock and the more extravagent colors like the East flock.
Because of their disgruntled nature, the South Flock can be rather cruel in the way they choose their members. They will sometimes force them through hard initiations such as fighting the Alpha Male or another of the pack (sometimes even two or three at once), and on other occassions they will simply allow them to join the ranks. Their nature can be very tempermental, however, and without cause they have been known to remove members of the flock, but later on will welcome them if they so return.
Territory: The land where the South flock lives is luscious acres of rainforests, rivers, and waterfalls. Rain is heaviest during the spring and the air is often quite humid during the summer and fall months. There are many rock foundations for Gryphs to seek shelter from the monsoons and heavy rainfall, as well as to nest and hide from predators. The amount of foliage, however, makes it difficult for Hippogryphs to get up into the sky unless they are in open patches of land, which are generally located around the rivers and outskirts of the forests.

West Flock - From the prairies where buffalo roam and the sun is held up high lies the West Flock. All year round the sun beats down upon them and because of this they have a low tolerance for the cold and thin coats. Their colors are generally fairly dull and seem to be mostly reminescent of the wild mustangs that once roamed the Old West.
The Flock mentality takes on a variety of attributes. Generally the more serious of the flock take on the higher positions while the playful ones are regarded simply as entertainment for the rest and babysitters for the chicks. The West Flock does rarely ever demands initiation into their flock but most often than not all newcomers are met with some form of disdain from the Alphas and the higher ranks simply because of their new establishment in the flock. While the Flock's main concern is the flock itself, many can be selfish and some have been known to even cast the safety of the flock to the wind in order to further themselves.
Territory: Greenery is very lacking in the western plains. There are many rock formations and canyons located in the west, very few rivers, lakes, and streams, and there is a noted Oasis where many Hippogryphs come to gather in the cool patch of foliage and cool water. With a range of mountains located north of the prairies, the Western Flock is most noted by humans and is usually the prime target when it comes to catching wild Hippogryphs. The rocks and mountains provide excellent shelter especially from natural weather disasters (such as tornados) and from human hunters and other predators. Living in the west makes it hard to find food, but these Hippogryphs are content enough to eat the long grass that grows and only occassionally delight upon the greener fields.

The ranks in each flock varies, but the set up usually originates from the original flock hierarchy with an Alpha in command and control of the flock. However, the hierarchy tends to have its own variations from flock to flock and it is usually decided by the needs of the members. Positions are chosen based usually on strength and merits, but again, this is something that varies with the different flocks.
New Image Coming Soon

Alpha: The Alphas are the leaders of the flock. There is only one alpha pair that is a partnership of a single male and a single female. They are the ones with the most rights in the flock, which includes being the ones to eat first, sleeping spots, and naturally, breeding rights. However, this position is not just full of rights but it's full of responsibilities. The Alphas are the ones who must be the first to lead the charge and the last to flee from a battle. They are the ones that will be looked to in times of trouble and therefore must be prepared.

Beta: Like the Alphas, there is only one beta pair that is a single male and a single female. They act as the second in commands to the Alphas, and after the Alphas have had their own choices in the ways of rights, it falls upon the Betas to choose where they sleep, what they wish to eat, ect. ect. Usually the Betas are selected by the Alphas themselves since the Betas are ones that need to be trusted and therefore, if a new Alpha pair attains the rank, usually the Betas will lose theirs.

Den Mother: Den Mothers are not necessarily the third highest rank in the ladder, but they are fairly important. Den Mothers consists of only females (which is why quite a lot of flocks mostly have females) and are charged with the very necessary task of rearing chicks. They are also considered the protectors of chicks, though they will not fight unless they have to. Their duties consists of not only raising and protection, but complete devotion. Usually a single Den Mother will take part in watching over five to seven chicks, depending on her abilities. Normally these batches are consistent of her chicks as well, and if she must, the chicks of other mothers. A Den Mother is aware that her entire life belongs to the chicks, and that their lives must come before hers, and therefore, she is willing to sacrifice herself if it means they will be spared.

Chicks: Very self explanatory. This is not really a rank so much as a level of existance.

Omegas: The lowest level of flock ranks. While most flocks tend to shun the idea of Omegas, there are still some that exercise this rank. These are the ones who get treated the worse: last to eat, last to find a place to sleep, and are generally the outcasts and black sheep of the flocks. They are the brunt of punishment, and usually are cast into this rank at a young age.

While one may not think of it, Hippogryphs have been known to come in various kinds. Right now only a few have been able to make themselves known to the human populace, and what info that is available is written here.

Wild Hippogryphs are naturally the first and foremost of the Hippogryph species and breeds. They grow roughly to the size of normal Clydesdale Horses as adults with the males growing a thick mane around their necks and along their chests and females growing longer, looser manes themselves that hang from the back of their necks. They live normally in large groups known as Flocks with a male and female (known as the Alphas) reigning over it, but there are also many cases of Hippogryphs that live as Rogues and occassionally with one or two other Hippogryphs (usually mates, siblings, or offspring).
In the wild they can survive through various different kinds of climates including harsher snow terrains, desert plains, and jungle forests. Depending on their environment, their coats will change to alter to better suit them for the climate: Hippogryphs living in the deserts have relatively shorter and thinner coats whereas Hippogryphs living up in the northern tundra have thicker hides. These coats also come in a variety of colors, usually suited to fit with their environment. Since Hippogryphs are herbivores (with rare cases of mutations that allow them ability to eat meat), they are a little lower on the food chain and rely on their wits, wings, strength, speed, and natural camouflage abilities to avoid hunters and other predators.
Hippogryphs are a very intelligent and emotional species. They have been known to exhibit very extreme human like responses to things: examples can be if a mother's chick is attacked, she, along with no doubtedly her mate and others of the flock, will seek out the attacker and take vengeance upon them. They are known for their tactics of survival during droughts and other kinds of natural occurances, and in their escapes from predators.
Adapt with a single pair of wings, they do not have hooves like horses would, but rather paws like lions. Their forepaws do not have any claws, but their hindpaws do as well, providing a very deadly and powerful back kick when a Hippogryph is bucking. Like other herbivores, they do not have fangs of any kind, and like all herbivores, they only eat vegetation. They know what plants to stay away from, and usually prefer to eat during the early mornings at around dawn (where they enjoy the tastes of dew covered grass) and at dusk (where they delight on the taste of moss and berries).
Wild Hippogryphs are very often sought out by humans to be sold off into zoos, circuses, and private owners. However, unless caught at a young age, the older Hippogryphs tend to be too much to handle and with their great size and strength often prove to be considered a danger to humans. They are not considered an endangered species and are not used to create human products. They are rarely ever killed by humans since they are worth more alive.

Domesticated Hippogryphs mostly come from the North West which contrives an area inhabited by humans. These gryphs don't really have any set look to them. From intensely thick coats to slick and bright colours, the Domesticated Gryph was once wild, but tamed by the human's they now live with.
Usually bred for playmates, the domesticated Gryph tends to be of a more easy going demeanor; although from time to time they've been known to be trained for guard duties as well. Being feriously loyal and devoted, they are perfect for either role.
In their newborn/infant stages, some Gryphs can usually seem rather aggressive (Attacking imaginary 'bugs', slinking around the house ect). This however is simply an instictual want to play. In the wild Gryphs often will wrestle with one another when young; Domestic Gryphs seem to exhibit the same behaviour.
Sometimes a domestic gryph will attempt to take on a more "Alpha" role in a household, if his human caretakers do not seem to hold up the role in their eyes. This can adversely affect the household as the Gryph may become more aggressive as he grows.
Domestic gryphs still tend to seek out a strong mate for breeding, the want to carry on a strong brood still nettled down in the back of their minds. Humans will often breed Gryph's much like they'd breed a purebred hound or horse. There have been rare occassions of Gryphs being born with genetic mutations causing them to appear almost like lambs, or other animals. These Gryphs are usually looked upon highly for their unique appearance.
Domestic Gryphs, sadly, are unable to survive in the wild on their own. Although they still retain some of their animal instincts, with being raised by humans their entire lives, they will not naturally return to their natural instincts to be able to defend themselves.
Since Domestic Gryphs don't really have the same access to creating 'nests' as wild gryphs do; many of them will create a similar ideal in their home. Be it a bed piled with toys around them, or a bundle of blankets tucked around in a similar fashion. This creates a 'safe haven' sort of feel for them, similar to the safe haven a wild gryph would create while finding a secure place to build theirs.

Wingless Hippogryphs are a mutation of Hippogryphs bred by humans. Through strenuous and selective breeding humans were able to create this subspecies of Hippogryph. As their name suggests they do lack wings, which makes them very adapable for racing against other land animals, including big cats, horses, and other Hippogryphs. While somewhat leaner than their wilder and winged cousins, they retain the same amount of muscle and strength, sometimes more depending on the care they receive. They, however, do not grow to the size same as their cousins, but rather are a few hands shorter, usually roughly the size of a regular quarter horse.
Due to their mutation they are incapable of living out in the wild as they would become prime candidates and targets for predators. They are born and raised solely in domestication and are usually used for races, labor, and entertainment purposes including things such as beauty shows and tournaments.
Wingless Hippogryphs are also more likely to be born with color and physical mutations that most wild Hippogryphs would lack. These colors are usually related to horse, dogs, cats, and birds, but other noticable pelts have been documented. Physical mutations can include floppy ears, folded ears, sheep coats, and on very slimmer occassion claws on all four feet and horns.

Horseflies are tiny winged little horses with an exotic tail and feelers. They live out in the wild and are often seen amongst Hippogryphs, usually choosing one as their companion to be with. Some speculate that Horseflies act as consciences for Hippogryphs, while others seem to think they are much like tick birds that live on rhinos. Either way, it's not unusual to see these two together in the wild.
Horseflies grow to be about six inches in length with a wingspan of about a foot or so, making them a beautiful sight to humans. They come in all different colors, and it's a strange find to see one that looks like an exact duplicate of the Hippogryph it's with! These little creatures eat pollen and will occassionally also nibble on berries, nuts, seeds, and other foods of that delicacy. However, they do not care much for human foods but they can prove to be a nuisance on human crops. The feelers atop of their heads are used for smelling and also for exploring while also providing balance to their body.
Considered intelligent, they can manage to communicate somewhat with Hippogryphs but not to the same extent. They can pick up on words and learn them but generally tend to respond in chitters and squeaks. They are very expressive physically and through facial movements so it's not hard for a human (or Hippogryph!) to tell when one is upset, happy, sad, or otherwise.

Anatomy - Avaji are a type of long haired rodent that is most notable for its very soft fur, which sales high on the black market, and for their horns (males) and antennae (females). Very mouselike in appearance, they are a distant cousin of rabbits with very powerful hindlegs for jumping. They walk and run all fours but are capable of walking very, very short distances on their hindlegs. Their tails, while short as babies, grow especially long when they get older and act as a counter balance. They aren't typically used for wagging.
Female Avaji are somewhat bigger than their male counterparts and also differenciate with the two feelers that stick out of their head. These feelers are very sensitive and are used to identify objects and to also smell out predators and food. These feelers also change color according to their surroundings and the seasons. Females also have a small noticable mane of hair that runs down the back of their necks.
Male Avaji have horns rather than feelers, and these horns are generally used to impress females for mating. The bigger and more elaborate the horns are, the better seed that a male is able to produce with a female. These horns are also used for fighting to determine leaders in colonies (known as clusters) and also for defense should the Avaji be incapable of outrunning its attacker. It's not uncommon for humans to clip the horns of male Avaji as they can be dangerous to children.
Baby Avaji do not have horns or feelers; these come in when they become adults.

Social Living - Avaji are extremely social creatures, even in the wild. They live in clusters that number as low as five to as high as forty. In the colonies there is no 'set' leader, but males will constantly duke it out to be the one with the most breeding rights. There is no true heirarchy amongst them.
Female Avaji are the mothers and therefore are the ones who take care of the babies. If a female passes away during birth or by other means and her children need tending, another mother will take charge and help. The males are considered to be the defenders of clusters and also are not unknown for helping in the care of their offspring.

Eating Habits - All Avaji are vegetarians. They are sometimes known to eat insects, but such occassions are extremely rare as they prefer the sweet taste of fruit and delicacy of nuts and seeds. In domestication, they can be fed the same pellets that are given to most rodents, but due to their sensitive digestive system, it's not recommended to feed them human foods and to be mindful of what they chew on.

Breeding - Avaji can breed two weeks after they have matured into adults. All pairs are male-female and it is not uncommon for males or females to seek out different partners for each litter born. Despite the polyamorous nature they carry, for each litter, the father and mother are both attentive and protective and work together to raise their kits until they are capable of surviving on their own.
Females are pregnant for two weeks and like most mothers, they generally spend a lot of time nesting. They tend to go into labor into the late hours of the night, the early hours of the morning, and labor can last about an hour depending on how many kits are born to the litter.

  1. How many can we own?
-- At the moment there is no set limit on how many a person can own.

  2. How fast do they grow?
-- It depends on your activity. The more activity you show the faster they will grow and that is at our discretion. However, if you are not an active owner (either IC or OOC) it will take exactly two months after your pet's last growth date to grow and that is only if the colorist wishes to take the time to grow them.

  3. If we're not active will we lose our Hippogryph?
-- There may be a chance of that happen. We try to encourage our owners to be active in some way, be it IC or OOC. If we fail that this cannot be met, we will notify the owner that their Hippogryph will be going to a new babysitter who will have all the responsibilities of the original owner until that owner wishes to return. However, the owner can choose to relinquish full custody of their Hippogryph (there will be no refunds) or they can choose to give it away. Once you've relinquished ownership though you cannot get your Hippogryph back.

  4. Are we allowed to give our Hippogryphs away?
-- We do not want to treat Hippogryphs as if they're beach balls or toss-around toys. They aren't. If you give away a Hippogryph that is not from an immediate purchase in a flat sale, auction, raffle, custom, trade, or from a breeding, then you must be able to provide ample reason for this. If you choose to give away a Hippogryph that has not come from one of the aforementioned methods, you will not be allowed to participate in any shop events for the next two months and you will not be allowed to breed your Hippogryphs or receive any from anyone else. This is to discourage people from giving away their Hippogryphs. You also cannot demand to have your Hippogryph returned to you if you gave it away; once you've relinquished ownership, it is no longer yours.
If your Hippogryph is a newborn, we may allow exceptions to this rule. However, this is only if your Hippogryph has not been role played and is, again, still a newborn.

  5. Can we co-own?
-- There is no co-ownership allowed of single Hippogryphs. The only exceptions are made for twins since twins are required to always have two owners.

  6. Are Hippogryph Plushies only allowed to be made if the Hippogryph already exists?
-- No. You can request any kind of Hippogryph to be made, whether it's one of the existing ones (even if you don't own it) or one you some day wish to own.

  7. What's the difference between Exclusive and Available Custom Plushies?
-- Exclusive plushies are only available to you. Meaning that this plushie was created solely for you and we will not sell it to anyone else unless you wish us to. Available Customs means that the plushie becomes a part of our stock.

  8. Can we name the plushies something else other than their original name?
    -- Yes you can.

  9. Can I have an abandoned Hippogryph?
-- No. Do not ever ask for an abandoned Hippogryph. We choose what to do with them. Asking for one will more than likely end up with a reprimand of some sort from us.

  10. Will you do pet trades?
-- Yes, we will. Please read staff information for more about pet trades.

  11. I'd like to work here; can I?
-- At the moment we aren't hiring. Generally staff is selected through close friends.

  12. Who did the art?
    -- Toushin.

  1. How much do they cost for a flat sale?
-- It costs 4,000 (4K) for each Hippogryph.

-- No. You can only try for yourself or for someone else in all flat sales, unless it is otherwise stated.

-- No. You may pay pure gold in flat sales and in raffles.

  1. How much is breeding?
    -- Breeding costs 2000 (2K) each.

  2. Can we breed same sex Hippogryphs?
-- NO. This is not allowed at all. Homosexuality is not known amongst Hippogryphs and we will not allow it in the shop.

  3. Can we breed different generations together?
-- Yes, you can breed different generation Hippogryphs so long as they are not related.

  4. Can we breed within family?
-- No. We cannot breed between family ties. There will be some exceptions, such as very thin close relations (distant cousins and whatnot) but that's only if it doesn't cause troubles.

  5. Can we breed Wingless Hippogryphs to Winged Hippogryphs?
-- Yes, you can. There will be a 50/50 chance of the children being born with wings or not.

  6. Can we breed cosplays with normal Hippogryphs?
    -- Yes, you can.

  7. Will chicks that are born to at least one cosplay parent shows any edits?
-- Only if you pay for it. Otherwise chicks will simply show colors exhibited by their parents' edits and coats.

  8. How much will it cost for the edits?
-- It will cost at least 10K for any edits you want on each infant. We will notify you how many babies you're having and what sexes they are so that you can pick which ones you want to have with edits. The price of the edits can go up depending on what you want and how much.

  9. Can we choose the edits?
-- Yes, you can. It will be discussed with the breeder.

Next Flat Sale Date : N/A
Flat Sale Type : N/A
How the Sale Works :

Name Creation Sales: Instead of a speed flat sale or a role play flat sale, we try to do Name Creation sales. This challenges your creativity and uniqueness and it also gives everyone a fairly good chance to win since there are no limitations (such as connection or abilities). At the start of the flat sale (which is the prompt) we will list a person, place, or a thing for you to give a name to. We will also list how many names you need to acquire, any limitations (such as only male, only female, ect.), and there will be a time limit, which is usually the time of an hour. During this hour you must post your name(s). After the hour is up, no further entries will be allowed. Selona and I will then choose the five best names with some help from outside influences (non-Gaians, if possible) and we will list the five winning names. The first place winner gets to choose which Hippogryph they want and their name becomes the name of whatever we were getting named. Second place gets their next pick, third, ect. ect. until all Gryphs are gone.

Breeding is an important part of all life forms, and Hippogryphs are no exception to this rule. Here is the following information available about Hippogryphs' breeding:
  • Clutches can be anywhere from one chick to six.
  • All partners are male-female only. Homosexuality is not a known part of their life style and not allowed. It is considered amongst Hippogryphs to be very unnatural and we will not allow it here in the shop at all.
  • Hippogryphs are live births rather than eggs.
  • Hippogryphs can breed as adolescents but the number of chicks will significantly drop since they have not fully matured. Usually only two or three chicks will result in an adolescent pair breeding.
  • Hippogryphs can breed up to four times. Too many clutches can harm the mother.
  • Female Hippogryphs can breed only once a month.

Both parents take care of the nest, which is usually located high up in a tree or on a cliff away from predators. The mother is usually the one who stays at home keeping the young chicks warm while the father is out on the hunt. Within flocks the mothers will also take turns guarding the nests and taking care of the young.

Breeding is a privilege, it is not a right. Therefore, if you are an inactive owner, you will not have breeding privileges.

Breeding Cost: 2K

Rainbow Feather of Youth
Cost: 1000g
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

This magical feather is from the plumes of the Ho-Oo, a legendary bird that is a distant cousin of the Hippogryph gods. The feathers are shed every five hundred years when the Ho-Oo rebirths itself; these feathers are abundant up until the next rebirth, usually found lying around the nest area but spread all across the four corners of the earth.
When a Hippogryph wears this feather, they are able to retain their youth and will never grow. Usually these feathers are tied into their own feathers, around an ear, or worn as a necklace.
  • You can remove this item only once. After you remove it, it disintegrates. If you want to purchase another one, you can buy one more for that Hippogryph, but the second one will not be removable and it becomes a truely permenant item.
  • Only infants, children, and adolescents can wear this. It is not encouraged for infants to wear them, but it is still allowable.

Yeti Cert

These Yeti Plushies are a very strange occurance. There is an elderly woman who lives on up in the mountains on the edge of town. She is sometimes called a witch, but has never been known to do any harm to the folks. Every weekend she sells these plushies, which have been enchanted with a spell to come to life. They are very friendly and make great companions. They do not need to eat or drink, but they do need to sleep. They bond themselves to only a single person.
  • The Old Woman comes down on Friday nights at 6PM Gaia Standard Time. She leaves Sunday evening at 6PM Gaia Standard Time. If you venture to her home and ask for a Yeti outside of these times, you will not be answered.
  • You can only buy one Yeti once a day.
  • Available colors are Black and White.
  • On very rare occassions she will allow people to put in requests for very special Yetis, but they will come at a higher price.
  • You can buy a Yeti for someone else but that means you've lost your chance to buy one for the day.

A very special thanks to my co-owner, Selona. If she hadn't harassed me to do more lineart than the original male Hippogryph infant this shop probably wouldn't be here today.
