Why?It's been brought to my attention that fanfiction.net has little respect. Many of the authors there write as though they were posting in the Chatterbox here on Gaia. What's worse is the abundance of poorly written original characters (Sues) and pointless self-inserts. Many characters that already exist are also written out of character. What? There is, believe it or not, good Fullmetal fiction on ff.net. Finding it often requires a lot of digging. That's what I'm here for- to do the digging for you. I'll search almost any pairing, genre, and rating to find you the best written stuff out there. How?Here's what each of the terms I'll use means: Genre: You know the drill- action/adventure, romance, humor, etc. Rating: Click here for a fiction ratings guide Complete?: Yes if it is, no if it isn't. Chapters: Format is- (number) as of (date) Follows: Manga, anime, movie, or any combination Type: Here's where it gets different. Shows Promise means that I've given it a cursory scan and it seems decent. Good Read means I've read it all and I recommend it. Great Read means I've read it all and enjoyed it thoroughly. Personal Favorite translates roughly to WOW. Keep in mind:My taste may be different from yours. You may not like the fanfiction I pick. I'm hoping we'll all benefit from this thread. Feel free to recommend anything you've read and enjoyed, share your opinions, and review the fanfiction listed here. Insomnia promises to review every fanfic she reads from here on out.

-:[Spring is here and joy is in my heart.]:- *wave wave* Ooh, ooh! Parfait found a good one that's been keeping her interested! : D!
It's a Harry Potter/Fullmetal Alchemist crossover called Invert, by Marz1. I saw Leti mention it, and so I read it, and it kept me so interested. Granted, grammar and sentence style needs a bit of polishing, but you've got to give the author props, since English isn't their first language. It's a good read with plenty of humor and fan goodies to keep you grinning.

ZOMG! I love that fic to death. I've been reading it since chapter 1, as Marz1 was already on my author alert when he started writing it. I love his writing style, it pawns. heart The characters always seem so real and he manages to put so many angles on everything. He's the link to Invert incase anyone's interested (which you very well should be): http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2929916/1/

{SONATA} -->Oh, and if anyone needs a cure...Read Les Mis fanfic. [/shamless plug] Some authors I've read are phenomenal. Basically because, well, you have to have at least some intelligence to read a book that's over a thousand pages long. Not to mention the humor is actually hilarious in lighter fics. So Les Mis is probably the only fanfic I try to read...I'm scared, frankly, of venturing into most anime fandoms. Hmm...let me dig up some faves that I have in my gazillion favorites folder... Love is a Verb-Cute EdWin fic. Physics with Ed and Roy-If all my science classes were like this, I think science would be my favorite subject. Whole Once Again-One-shot fic; Elysia goes down the same path as the Elric brothers.
Oh, and this fic scares me sososo much. D: It has nothing to do with FMA, but still...Winter is on my head, but eternal spring is in my heart.

-:[Spring is here and joy is in my heart.]:- "He hasn’t…got the hang of chewing and swallowing yet. He’s already choked six times,” Ed said, glaring at the food as if it had said something rude."
This crossover is just made of so much win. Look, it's even got Hermoine/Ron! : D

And HarryxGinny! (sort of) And it hints at EdWin. But as Winry isn't in the fanfiction... *le sigh*
My prediction is that Neville got exchanged for Ed and Al and he's now in Amestres under the care of Roy. I really want the gap between dimensions bridged by the end of this fic. But Marz1 hasn''t updated in what seams like forever! gonk

I wonder what tortures experiences Neville is going through with Roy and his goons. ninja
