 Welcome to The Phantom Laundromat. On behalf of the other moderators and myself I would like to thank you for joining up with us. Feel free to call me Mew or Mewkey. I be the captain of this here ship...er...Guild. This Guild started as a simple pollwhore Guild but has grown a lot since its birth. I would now classify us as a General Interest Guild. We have lots of discussions on lots of topics, and usually lots of fun to boot. If you're reading this and trying to decide whether to request to join...all I can say is please do! We'd love to have you as a new friend. To all the oldbie TLMers...thank you all so much for sticking with us through all the changes and drama it took to get us here! To all the newbie TPLers: You are required to post "Aye Aye Captain!" in this thread to show that you have read and understand the rules within your first week of membership.In this thread you will find the rules list, a subforum navigation guide, a bit of history, and a posting guide. Also, please make a thread in this forum to introduce yourself so that we can get to know you better, whether you're a TLM veteran or a TPL newbie! A Bit of HistoryIn the beginning, there was The Money Pit. The Money Pit was a Pollwhore guild where everybody knew your name. It was an awesome place. Then, there was a teensy bit of drama. Then more drama. Then even more drama. Finally, the owners of The Money Pit opened it up to the public and abdicated. They just didn't want to deal with the drama anymore. A small group of rebel forces...um...erm...I mean a splinter group of friends from The Money Pit didn't want to lose their place to hang out with one another on Gaia and so, on June 21, 2005 at 11:45PM TheTwistdBlakCat started The Laundry Mat. We were all happy to be there because we were all friends. As our membership grew, we made more and more friends and had a rocking good time! TheTwistdBlakCat became less active on Gaia and turned the Guild over to me and I ran it for over a year. Active membership began to wane and we had two Moderator reorganizations as a result...not to mention three or four member list cleanouts. Activity continued to drop as the months passed by, and I even found myself becoming less active on Gaia. I turned the Guild over to Shimi-Baka but remained Vice Captain. Resulting from a YIM conversation between Shimi and I, we decided to create a TLM Mark II from the ashes of the fallen TLM. Like a Phoenix, we hope to see The Phantom Laundromat rise above and dazzle us all with her uncompromising beauty. Or, to put it another way, we hope dusting out the cobwebs and clearing out some subforums, inactive members, and dramatic memories will help revitalize this once crazy busy Guild. We didn't sell the old TLM. We couldn't bear it. We've kept it as a sort-of museum of memories from the good old days. With any luck, the new days will be better than the old ones. We're not "Chatterbox Lite." If you have read this far, when you post "Aye Aye Captain" you must also post "Now Release the Flying Monkeys!" If you don't you will more than likely be bannanated. I'm just sayin. Does not apply to veteran members of the guild. If you have any questions about any of the rules or just need clarification on anything, pm one of the guild mods. A place to introduce yourself and learn all there is to know about the Guild Memorable Threads: Threads that were too dramatic, too funny, too fun, too sad, too stupid, or too crazy to let fall into obscurity. They're locked and you can't post in there, but you can always go back and revisit the crazyness. The Office: Crew only subforum. Man, I wonder when that tent city is going to get here...! Holding/Recycle Bin: Threads made in advance for events and threads in need of deleting. Also Crew only.

Posting GuideOk so a lot of you are from TLM and are familiar with the subforum wars. So I've come up with a new way to twist your brains lol. You'll notice this Guild doesn't have NEARLY as many subforums as the last one did. But we still have categories that need to be addressed. So here's my solution...we're going to try a tagging system. If you make a thread that falls into one of the categories listed below, include the appropriate tag in the subject line of the thread. The categories are: arrow Life Issues: arrow Avatar Talk: [AT] arrow Questions: [QA] arrow Suggestions: [SI] arrow Role Play: [RP] arrow Buying/Selling: [SB] arrow Extended Discussion: [ED] arrow Gaia Discussion: [UD] arrow General Discussion: [GD] arrow Advertisement: [AD]For example...if I were to make a thread asking people to vote for me in the Avatar Arena, I would put [AD] in the subject line. If I were to make a thread asking what the donation items were for this month I would put [QA] in the subject line. If I were to make a role playing thread I would put [RP] in the subject line. And so on. So my subject line would end up looking like this: [RP] The Tacky Kung-Fu RP! [QA] Donation Items? [AD] Vote for meh!!! Make sense to y'all? If you have any questions PM me or post them in the main forum and I'll help you out. This is a test run of this feature. If it doesn't work or gets too complicated then we'll try to find a new way. This Guild will not have more than 6 subforums if even that many...just FYI

Check Mate.
Just curious... I'm noticing threads without polls and didn't see it in the rules where every thread has to have a poll. Am I rightly assuming that was a change? I like it that way... more lax and mellow.
