Sixteen years old.Right now I like: piercings (I have lots) and theater (I have friends there) and finnish street fashion (I have a thing for a people who can claim they are inspired in what they wear by moomintrolls).
I like to write. I like other people who like to write, I haven't met many of them in this city.
I like music but I'm not getting into that right now.
If you're interesting and like using big words to make yourself look smarter but don't say a lot of awfully inane things to carry on a fading conversation we are probably destined to be buds.

Avatar contests are basically when you have anywhere from 2 to 10 people pay you a fee to be in a poll that you make. You set either a time limit or a vote limit to determine who is the winner. The person with the most votes for their avatar gets a prize and you keep a certain amount of gold for yourself as payment for hosting the contest. If you have a small number of people in it, it is usually a quick way to get a few hundred gold.
Lastly, avatar art. Now this is my area. xD If you have any skill with drawing, you can use the minishops forum to set up your own art shop. In a nutshell, it can be explained as you posting some examples and prices of your art, someone posting a request for some art, you drawing their avatar, then them sending a trade with the agreed amount of gold, and you sending them their picture. Sometimes art auctions are held, which can end up going up to very high prices.

Ok, so vending? [If you just meant the marketplace, sorry....] Well, there's a lot of different ways to increase your gold gaining on gaia, including spamming in the chatterbox, buying items and selling them for more, avatar contests, and avatar art. The last two I have more experience with because I personally can't stand extensive spam and, to be honest, I'm horrible at restocking [buying and selling] although I'm not sure why.
Spamming is an increasingly common way of getting gold. In the chatterbox, you might see a bunch of threads titled 'bump' or something similar. Basically, that's just posting the word bump repeatedly...>.O;;
