Feb. 19th, 2007: Open for business! I was browsing through the AT one day, and thinking of how I wished there were more free contests, and wishing that there were contests without prizes. I end up giving my prize away half the time when I win because I'm just entering for the fun of competition and the joy of making avatars, not because I need the gold. So I was trying to think of a way that I could make a decent contest that was free, had no prizes, but would still be exciting and appealing.
That's when I came to the idea of ranks. Your score in each contest influences your overall rank, so that if you're a consistently good avatar creator you'll move up in the ranks of gladiators. If you're just a flash in the pan and got lucky with one good avatar you won't.
I want this to be all about competition and avatar skill, not about gold or items. I'm tired of seeing all these tektek contest threads filled with crappy avs that have no effort at all put into them by people who are just entering for gold. To the people who truly enjoy creating avatars the prize is just a bonus to the pleasure of winning. That's how I'm going to run this contest, and I hope you all enjoy it. The guild is basically where all the behind the scenes work goes on. From contestant archives to thinking up new contests, almost all the work behind this thread is done from within the guild. Anyone and everyone are welcome to join, but please don't post in any threads that have 'S/O' in the title, as those are staff only threads for the purposes of organization.
TO JOIN: You are all welcome to join, but please put one of the following in your application: Contestant, Staff, or Just Curious.
I'm kinda obsessive about keeping track of things like that. XP

 This is the monthly hall of fame, where whoever has the most wins for this month shall be featured! Also, the person with the highest judges score record, and the person with the highest poll score record will be featured here. You can also view all the contestants and winners from every previous contest in our Contest Archive thread in the guild forum.

 The rules are fairly simple:
-No advertising to get votes, or using mules to vote.
-No entering with mules, especially if you are judging.
-Be nice and friendly in the thread, don't complain if you lose.
-Don't blame the judges. I don't want people complaining or crying about guest judges rates, otherwise they won't want to guest judge anymore. This is one contest among many. Take it with a grain of salt and try to make an awesome av in the next one you enter.
-If you yell at any of the staff you'll be banned from the thread.
-And yes, tekteks are allowed. Since there are no gold prizes for this contest, there are no enty fees either. All you need to do to compete is post your avatar in the thread. If there is a theme to the contest, please make note of what your avatar theme is. There are only 9 slots per contest, so it's first come first serve. You are allowed to post your entries for the upcoming theme as soon as it is announced. Judging will be a combination of poll results and my rate of each contestant's av, so that if someone wins on popularity alone, I can temper that with an in depth rate. Polls scores will be determined by whatever each contestant's score is at when one of the contestants reaches 10 votes. Also, I will allow the first place winner of a contest to be a judge in the next contest if they like, and in that case our individual ratings of everyone will be averaged. We'll be rating on a 1-10 scale using this format, with each category being worth 2 points:
Theme Execution
Creativity
Matching
Color Scheme
Overall Look I'll add the judges average to their poll score to determine each contestant's final total, then that will be added to their ranking.

 There are 25 ranks to be achieved, and I know I'll have to make more in the future as the contestant's totals get bigger and bigger. The method I'm going to use to determine their main ranking will be a combination of: Contests Won, Average Rating, Average Poll Score, and Average Total. This is so that if someone in second place consistently gets a 10/10 judges score, but doesn't win in the polls I think that should influence their rank, and visa versa. I'll be using some old grading software I have so that I can keep track of each contestant and their score in each contest rather than manually update and calculate a database on my own.
There will also be special sub-ranks that you can achieve to gain a small graphic by your entry in the ranks. I'll post these as people discover them, but here's a hint. They'll be based on things that aren't necessarily directly influenced by your score. When people start gaining ranks, I'll post them here.
Slave: The lowest ranking. Everyone has to start off somewhere in life.
Servant: Slightly above a slave. You're still bowing and scraping to your superiors though.

I won't be putting up huge banners or anything, but I'll link an image of your avatar, your name, and its title. I'll only be adding people who are regulars here or are friends of mine. No random people who just come in and want some free advertising.  This is a silly contest that I ran about 2 years ago with great success, so I'm going to run it again because my inventory is in dire need of cleaning. Your challenge is to go through my inventory and find all the items that I have duplicates of! When you find one tell me where it is in this format: Inventory tab, Row, # in Row, Item name. So, for example, my black stockings would be posted like this: "Bottoms, Row 2, 3rd Item: Black Stockings" If you don't know the name just give me a rough description of the item, post the coordinates for each copy of the item as well. Each time someone finds one I'll put a dot over the item in the screenshot, you don't get any credit for items that have already been found. I'll be offering 100g per duplicate found, 25g if it's a multiple equip item. Have fun searching through 1,850 items. XP
