does any body have any good ideas on how to promote the guild question

Finding people who might be interested will be hard but I believe that the fact that this guild is young and needs members might be a way to bring more members in.

Word of mouth will help a lot. Even though we're a young guild we can still offer stuff, like advice and stuff like that.

I'm not even part of the guild yet but I'm interested...if you want eager high energy recruits I can find them after I'm in

Hey guys, you have a little over two pages of guild members. I don't think you need anymore right now. What you need is to get your current members playing. Getting more and more members turns this into a popularity contest, and I'd like to play in a fun and active guild. My other guild has 10 people who regularly post, and it is definately a keeper guild for me. We have a page and a half of members, and yeah, most of them don't post, but even still, with so few, I still enjoy it.
So lets bug our current members, do a sweep on who's interested in playing, get rid of the people who don't care, and then see where we are in terms of needing members.

That is a great idea. It's one thing to have a lot of members, but if members don't care, it can end up just weakening the guild. If we have a few members who care, it can still be strong.

Check Barton Town, the FFA in the Guilds tab and other swordsmanship guilds.

Barton Town has a lot of raw talent among the rubble, pick them out and invite them, you'll get a response I guarantee.

The FFA is full of a bunch of elitist snobs, but they're good at what they do, don't have a doubt about that, challenge them, test them to see if they're really as good as they are by inviting them to the guild, that should get their blood boiling to start a few fights.

Other swordsmanship guilds are having the same problems this one is, lots of members, not very many active ones. Try having contests, sparring contests, the person who can win the most duels in a certain amount of time gets a set amount of gold, maybe arena fights.

I don't like the idea of pure competition in an unregulated match. When you set a goal or prize in a competetive game, people start getting desperate and angry. In a game that's only regulated by the people playing it, and with no physical evidence of what actually happens, I can already see arguments and fighting coming, especially if there are "elitist snobs" and newbies in the mix.
I still say there should either be some regulated rule system to our guild's combat, or a referee or something to keep the game going properly instead of it breaking down into a dodge-attack-dodge-attack-dodge-no I hit you goddamnit kind of match.
Just the words of a DM coming into suggestion.

DM?

I'm just throwing things out there, whatever pops into my head, cause right now really nobody posts in the Guild, maybe if there were actual swordsmanship going on instead of power arguments like teleportation and elemental abilities washing around people would actually think this is a swordsmanship guild.

I say, the mods/admin should make a rule of no powers. It's fine and dandy if the character that you have uses them, but while they're fighting or otherwise participating in this guild, they're null and void. I want to learn how to better use a sword, not how to teleport from here to Bangkok.
