Okay, So I perfer Rock/Punk. But I want to find out other favorites. Like think about what the bands/singers talk about in their music too. Not just which ones are more popular or whatever.

So, Punk/rock or Rap/R&B?

So... What do you like? Not just one particular band/singer... But all in general.

I tend to like all sorts of genres, regardless of the popularity. If it has a good beat, a good melody, a good anything, I can like it. The message of the song is usually secondary for me.

Message is always first with me. And I just don't like that gangster rap or whatever. I like SOME of them that I can have fun singing with my friends and stuff. Like, I don't know if many of you have heard of the songs because they are only popular in Florida, but the sings like "Put yo stunna shades on" And "Hata blockas" Or however you feel like spelling them.

I've heard the first, but not the second. And I barely remember it as is.

I dunno, though. I think message always is secondary, because so long as the melody is catching or the chorus doesn't get out of your head, it'll be a lot more playable and popular than the obscure song with a deep meaning.

I really don't care about popularity, or if they play it on the radio. I just like it if the words have a good message. Like, if it's telling you to go kill your mom, there is no way I would ever recomend it. But if it is talking about, Being a Vegitarian, and that being a GOOD thing. I MIGHT just listen to it. Sure beat and all that jazz is important, but I like the words more.

Hm, well I tend to listen to classic rock more. I inherited my music taste from my Dad. ^^; But, I like other genres as well. I like Jazz, Jrock, a little bit of Jpop, and every once in a while I come across a Rap/R&B song that I like. And I absolutely love Techno. ^^ I don't generally care about what's popular, either. Other peoples taste in music is just not very important to me and getting along with people is not top priority for me so I never really needed to know what was popular or had the want to. >>

Cheers,
Izzie <3

some of the stuff i used to be into phased out, i stil like some pop stuff from the old times like britney spears sweatdrop sad

In my opinion of music, I prefer music by bands with a history who have worked for and earnt the right to be classed as "musicians" e.g The cure - Robert smith (The vocalist of the band) worked his a** off royally sending demo tapes to over 200 different labels just in hope that one will sign them up, in the end only one did, Hansa records, who only signed them up for there image (Originally they where ment to be a pop-punk boyband.) but since then they have evolved and managed to cover almost every music genre known to man (before the whole death metal, gore metal, grind metal crap come out, theres to many stupid genres these days.)
But now adays with all this rap crap, from my knowledge, no effort goes into it what-so-ever. they just get someone who looks right to put on the cover, while the rest is done by computers.
Also I'm a huge fan of 80' music (mainly goth rock) in which in my opinion was when people deserved the right to become musicians.
Theres to much technology these days, people are just getting lazier, including so called "musicians"...

Personally, I like both. Rock and Roll - and eventually Rock and Punk - could've never happend without both R&B and Country.

I am more partial to R&B though instead of Rock/Punk.

That's true I guess.... It doesn't fall into any of the catogories but my favorite band is The Beatles.

It really doesn't matter to me the genre, though I've never understood rap. As long as I like the music, can understand what the people are saying, and its not about drugs, and killing people, and such, it's good for me. I love all music, and I try a bunch of everything. I figure its better to give everything a chance than to just go on what's popular.

I suppose I'd say punk/ rock, though I don't really like metal. I mostly listen to ska or metal, mostly ska bcause I like happy music, and yet ska has such a variety, it can easily be silly and happy, and about girls and beer. On the other hand there is a lot of heavy, political skacore, which is also very good.
