RP Log.
June 12, 2005

Sachiko closed the door to her home which was just on the outskirts of town, just a quater of a mile away from the well. It wasn't the most convient place but she didn't like the hustle and bustle of the village and enjoyed the sounds of the forest more so than the village. She headed towards the village with Akina's egg held tightly around her chest, with her other hand she carried a bucket to fill with well water.
Eventually, she reached the well. Sachiko put Akina's egg down next to her and placed her bucket on the rope in the well to hoist it down. She kept an eye on the egg at all times though, she would never leave the egg at home or out of her sight she felt that she had to safe guard it with her life if it came to that. Sachiko had crazy motherly instincts.

Pana was already at the well, leaning against it on the opposite side. Arms were crossed over her chest, humming a song to herself when she heard someone approaching the well. She looked over her shoulder, sniffing at the air. With a little smirk she chuckles, then strikes up a conversation. "Hello you. You're that quiet gal who's always tucked away in her home, huh? Guess I caught you at a coincidental time at the well? Unless those rumors of recluse are false." A grin spreads across her lips, bearing pearly whites and longer canines. Right hand lifts up, scratching at her jawbone, close to her ear, with just one finger.

The woman leans over a bit and peers at the egg, "Nice," and with a sniff, she continues, "She's gonna' be pretty."

Sachiko looked up, suprised. "Heh, Hello. I'm Sachiko." She extended her hand out, was she really that distant? She kept an eye on the egg of course, "You think so? Thanks." She was really confused as of what to say, she didn't indulge in conversation often. Are there really rumors about me? I hope no one thinks I'm weird. At least I don't have teeth like this girl, she's kind of scary. Is she going to bite me? A weird expression came across her face as she stared at Pana.

With a wild grin, attention back on the girl, Pana turned around and stuck her hand out. During that shake, poor Sachiko might notice sharp claw-like nails. "Panaceia, but everyone calls me Pana." Under that jacket of hers was a tail, something she keeps hidden from most of the townsfolk, unless they're reliable. She'd be chased out of town if farmers and sheperess es knew what she was! And she'd miss out on such... good meals. "What's that look for, ey?" She arches a brow, turning back around, though keepps an eye on the girl, arms crossed. She always did her best to keep her backside hidden in genereal.

"...Do you ever cut your nails?" Sachiko asked as she pulled her hand away from the shake. It took her a moment to process what she just said, "Oh um. Sorry! Sorry, nothing. Uh.." She quickly diverted her glance to the well. Way to go, really now. That's how you make friends. She was kicking herself in her mind. "So, um. Where do you live?" She tried to spark some kind of meaningless conversation, hoping her previous comment was missed.

Pana didn't really look offended. Maybe looked like she was stopping herself from cackling - because she is trying - but she's not offended. "I can tell you don't talk to many people, Miss Sachiko. I live over there," she points at one of the two houses by the barn and stage. The one closer to the barn, though. It wasn't a very far walk there, either. Her silver-eyed gaze falls upon the girl, then the egg, smirking. "I'm waitin' on my egg, which is still being delivered in the barn. The mom is sick, she's a rare lookin' Tatsu. Wolf hybrid I guess." She looks forward at last, no more straining of her neck to look back. "The mum reminds me of someone," that someone being herself. "She's only got one pup in her, and I've got my claims on him."

Interesting how she knew the turnout of everything before it was to happen.

"Well, I do live further away from the village but I like it more that way," she shrugged. "No one really bothers me since I'm a quarter of a mile away, I'm suprised anyone knows I exist." She started hoisting the bucket up from the well, it should be full by now. "Do you know what the mother is sick with? Is it cureable?" Sachiko felt terrible hearing that, living without a mother was the worst - her own mother passed away when she was rather young.

"Can you cure a broken heart? Poor gal lost her life mate to an accident. I don't know which her mate was, so I couldn't say what got him, but I'm looking into it..." She shrugs, but then chuckles, "I convinced some friends, to convince some townspeople, to convince the major, that I'd be best to raise the pup." Smirking, Pana peers over her shoulder once more. "I'd like to say him and I are brother and sister in a way." Most likely, Sachiko would think Pana's crazy. She'd taken notice the bucket was full and brought up, "Are you gonna' go retreat again?" Pana snickers... the thought of such a recluse was humorous to her.

"That's very sad. I guess you'd be a little depressed after that, " Sachiko pulled the bucket out and placed it on the ground. "Brother and sister? Did you loose your mother to a broken heart as well?" That was the only connection Sachiko could make, "If so, I'm sorry." She picked the egg up and cradled it, "Well.. I was going to just drop the bucket off at home and come back.. To do what I'm not sure." Sachiko looked at Pana and then looked away. So much for friends, she's laughing at me. Is it really that weird not to socialize?

"Looks like you've got your hands full. I'd be careful hauling both a bucket and a slippery little egg around. Might drop one... I can help you carry the bucket back if you'd like." For the moment, Pana ignored the comment about family, as she stepped around the well to offer a hand. "My parents, well, yeah. I lost them both." Like hell she'd say how she lost them. "But I think 20 years is old enough to live alone, nay?"

"Would you? Thanks a bunch," She nodded her head. Sachiko figured she shouldn't ask anymore, "Really? I'm only 16 and I live alone." She shrugged, "My house is only a quarter of a mile this way." She pet the egg that she was now cradling with one arm. "I hope the bucket isn't that heavy," She looked back at Pana. She usually made these trips alone and gotten used to the weight of the bucket, but that was before she was given this egg.

Pana hoist the bucket up with effortless ease. That couldn't be muscle alone, could it? "Heavy? I've taken care of a barn most my life. It's light. I've got strong arms... and besides..." She casts a shifty glance around, "I've got a secret to share. Promise you'll not tell a soul?"

Sachiko looked back at Pana, "Do you really think I have a soul to tell?" She laughed but stopped quickly when she noticed she had made fun of herself. "I won't tell anyone, I promise."

Pana grins and laughs as well, "Okay, true," she teases, "so you aren't as social as most of the townspeople. But most of the folks with homes in the forest tend to keep to themselves. But that's not that secret I was gonna' tell." She smirks, head tilted as she hauled the bucket in one arm. "I'm a wolf. That's why I believe I'd be the best to raise the pup. If you want proof, I got proof over my a**." Her smile now was a bit nervous, "But I'm serious, keep it quiet, my life depends on it..."

"Wait- that means you have a tail? Is that why you live by the barn?" Sachiko stopped in her tracks, "..I won't tell a soul. You have my word. But that is so perplexing, really. How did you come to be like that?" Sachiko was certainly interested now, baffled even more so.

Arching a brow and making a funny face, Pana contemplates Sachiko's first words of reaction. Then she chuckles an shakes her head, amused. "I live by the barn because that's where my parents lived before... eh. Well. Um, thank you for keeping my secret for me." 'Parents' was a painful subject for her. "Yeah, I do," she muttered, lifting up the back of her jacket as the walked. Her tail was definately there, now wagging a bit. A mix of brown, creme, and a bit of black. "My momma was a wolf, kinda like that egg that's being delivered in the barn. Dad was human, just as I'm sure the father of the egg was. I'm a half-wolf."

"Well, that sounds pretty cool," Sachiko was at a loss of words. She wanted to reach out and tug on Pana's tail for some reason. Without notice, her arm reached out but she quickly realized her movement and stopped herself. What are you trying to do? Get yourself killed! She wanted to ask more but she could tell by Pana's responses that she didn't want to talk about it. "We should be to my house soon!" Sachiko started to jog.

Pana saw the hand coming, quick with her senses and all, thus dropped her jacket back down. This was her casual attire, usually she was in a different outfit alltogether. Today was filled with waiting, not amusement! "Why the hell are you jogging? You wanna drop that baby girl in your arms, Sachiko?" The sternness in her tone might've gotten the girl to stop. Pana catches up striding with long steps, boots crunching at twigs and dead leaves. When she looks at Sachi, her expression was just as stern and motherly as her tone. Then it softened. "What you you gonna' name her?"

"I just want to get home! I'm holding her tightly!" Sachiko tightened her grip on the egg, and slowed down a little bit. She didn't like being out of her house for so long - she was used to staying inside most of the time. "I was thinking of naming her Akina.." Sachiko stopped her jogging as she saw the house. "Home sweet home.. finally," Sachiko sighed.

Pana cringes... she was going to dog on Sachi for holding the fragile egg too tightly, but decided in doing so she'd seem rather... nosy. So she just cringes! Thoughts of a squashed egg were nightmarish to any Tatsu fan, owner, or breeder.

Then she calmed down, and looked the house over, sniffing at the air, making a turn to take in all the scents. When she faces the house again, she smiles. She'd remember the location of this house - the knew probably half the forest by now like the back of her hand. "Pretty home, and Akina sounds like a fitting name." Without asking, Pana continued toward the house with her, and the bucket in hand, until they reached the door.

"Thank you," she said as she opened the door. Sachiko quickly went to place the egg on a bundle on pillows and blankets, "Oh, you can place the bucket over there! Thanks again for carrying it all the way over here." She pointed to worn down wood table that was in the middle of the room. Sachiko plopped on the floor infront of the egg, "When did you say you'd be excepting your egg?"

Pana cautiously stepped into the home, as if a mob was waiting for her to burn her at the stake. She even took a moment to sniff, before stepping inside and placing the bucket where told. "Nice place, smells nice in here too."

She moved around the little home, examining things with eyes and nose, but not touch. "I don't know. It depends on the mother. She's having trouble with the egg, and her will to live.... you know?" She sighs, "It's a sad story, esepcially for this town."

"Thanks, I keep it pretty clean. There's no one else in here to make it messy either. Well, when Akina grows she'll probably be a little firecracker." Sachiko smiled at the thought of having a little tatsu bouncing around the house. She would love the company even if it would be a little akward and hectic at first.
"I wish there was a way we could help the poor mother," Sachiko watched Pana sniff around. She was fasinated that Pana was actually sniffing things, she watched in awe. "Do you always do that?" she blurted out of nowhere. She never really learned much about manners and when not to say what was on your mind.

Pana was listening to the girl talk, smiling to herself. Yeah, the girl looks like she needs some company, that's for sure. It was pretty much just HER scent all over the house and no one else's! "Hmm, Village docs are doing what they can, but as I said before.... there's not much you can do for a broken heart. That's what happened to my papa after my mother passed away..."

The last qurstion caught her by surprise, causing her to stop in her tracks and look down at sitting Sachiko with a shocked expression. "Huh? Oh... well. Yeah, I guess so... it's just a natural wolfy habit. If it bothers you I'll work on stopping."

"I'm sorry about your father," Sachiko looked up at Pana. She didn't know what else to say, she never was close to her parents. Her mother passed away while she was young and she barely saw her father, his whereabouts were unknown even now. Sachiko had convinced herself he was dead anyway. She leaned back and lay on the floor. "Nah, its okay," she giggled. "It just looks silly, you should see yourself!" She couldn't help herself so she held back her laughter and grinned.

Half-wolf just shrugged it off. "s**t happens," muttered quietly to herself.

Despite being told it looked funny, she kept sniffing around anyway, until she was convinced she'd smelt the whole house. Then she took a seat on one of the chairs at the worn down table. "I know most of what I do looks funny. But I do try to keep it down around town, around people who don't know." She shudders visibly, "Euck, I'd have the same fate as my mother if people found out."

Sachiko stood up, glanced at the egg, and walked over to the table and sat in the other chair. "Did the townspeople murder your mother?" She looked at the table and scratched at it with a finger - she quickly jumped out of her seat, knocking it over. "Do you want something to drink? Umm.. I could make tea or lemonade?" She never had guests before and she felt as if she was being a terrible hostess.

Pana nodded at the question, "She was full wolf, but could shift. This forest has a pack of wolves somewhere. Anyway, my mother had a unforunate event one Full Moon night, then... ehh... Dad couldn't bare the loss, so... yeah." It was all hard to say.

The sudden movement and crach of a chair made her jump a bit. "Uh! Sure... a glass of milk would be nice if you've any."

"That's terrible.. I'm so sorry." Well, that answered my other question. Sachiko fiddled through cabinets for a glass. She took one and placed it on the table. "The milk may be a little warm. I hope you don't mind," she said while pouring the glass. She put the milk back where she took it from. Sachiko walked over to the bundle of blankets that the egg was currently on and picked up the egg. She pet it gently and returned to her seat at the table after picking it up.

Pana was delighted to hear about the milk's status. "Warm? Not at all! I was gonna' ask for warm, but I didn't want to be a hassle..." Thus right after the milk was poured, she took to the animal in her and swiped the glass up, gulping down mayb half the glass, give or take. It was as if she were parched! After a savory lick at her lips she grins, "Thanks a bunch."

She watched the egg and the grin became a softer smile, "I look forward to my egg... I'm glad to be away from the town while the egg is delivered though. I have keen hearing..." Expression altered again, cringing, then took a small sip of the warm milk. Keen hearing meant she could hear the mother, and didn't want to hear her all night.

Sachiko stared at Pana in awe, "No problem...Do you want some more?" If I drank that fast, I'd get a headache. She continued to pet the egg, "Won't you rush back to the village once you know your egg has arrived?" Sachiko looked up at Pana and asked, "How do you sleep at night? I mean, with such good hearing how can you ever drown it all out?"

Pana just sat there staring at Sachiko like she saw a ghost. SO many questions, where to start!? "Yes please, more milk would be great." The glass was pushed in Sachi's direction on the table, then considered the other questions. "Hmmm.... I'm giving the family some... time to themselves, before I barge in for the egg. The owner of the mother knows what I am, thus agreed so willingly for me to be the caretaker. I hold a lot of respect for that family. There's been lots of grievences. As for sleeping at night, I love the sounds of nature. It doesn't bother me, but it does distract me to hear them. I manage to get enough sleep though."

Sachiko handed Pana the egg, "Could you hold her for a second?" She went over and got the jug of milk out again and poured Pana another glass. "I feel so bad for the family.. I can't imagine their grief." She looked at the table, "...I'm really sorry if I'm asking too much, am I being too nosey? I don't mean to really!" She turned to put the milk away.

Pana blinked, a bit confused, but took the egg as requested. She held it rather cautiously over the table, as if she'd just taken a big jewel off of a stand and was gonna' get caught with it red handed any moment. "Uhh."

"Oh. You've no idea how I feel - I'm kinda' close friends with the husband and wife. I've always admired what a family they'd become." Her eyes met the glass of milk, tummy growling at her. But she still held the egg up. "You're not asking too much, feel free to ask, I'm sure it must be nice to talk to someone after being cooped up here."

She put the milk jug back away and went to sit down, "Oh, sorry. I'll take her back." Sachiko pushed the glass of milk across the table towards Pana. She didn't know what else to say about the family, she wasn't sure if there was even anything else to say. "Have you had any experience caring for tatsu before? I mean, well.. if you have, do you have any tips?" She looked embarassed and shrugged.

Pana was all too happy to let her take the egg. It wasn't that she didn't wanna hold it, but that milk was calling out to her, which her hands immediately found. After a nice long drink, she set the glass down, still holding it, though. "Well, the boy will be my first Tatsu, but I've helped many families with pupsitting, dragonetsitting, and even witnessed a few birthings. A tip, hmm... well. Dragonets are often quite the handful. But they calm down with time."
