Before every set of games, the goddess holds a ball. This is the first time the different teams will meet. This is a great opportunity for the teams to scope out the other players before the game begins. There will be classical music, food, champagne, dancing, and a few announcements about the game. It is not obligatory to attend the ball but it is highly recommended. The players, moderators, and game makers will be in attendance.

Welcome to the Goddess's ball!

Among you are the players you will be fighting with and against. As is customary, it is imperative that you bring no weapon with you into this domain- only your best attire. Being said, I wouldn't recommend you start any fights in the goddess' ballroom. She wouldn't appreciate the mess. Participants are requested to don their loveliest masks in this ball.

Depending on when you arrived, you may have been at the island for some time now. Beside the ballroom is a fine inn for you to spend the night.

So be merry, friends! You have my best wishes on this, your endeavors in the Goddess's ball! Meet other players, find your team, dance, and enjoy the refreshments. The loyal orchestra will play music for you throughout the night.

So perhaps arrive a week in advance wasn't necessary.

Who could blame her, though? Overly prepared and anxious, she didn't last long waiting. She took her sail to the island of the Goddess. For the week prior, she had been tucked away in the fanciful rooms provided for each fighter. She hadn't done anything but review her spellbook as if she was awaiting a dire test. In retrospect, she supposed she was preparing for a test. Unfortunately, she would not be able to take the book with her into the arena. However, she could bring it to the ball. The book itself wasn't a weapon, her staff was. The staff remained securely hid

She was never one for dancing. As she watched the figures of players weave around each other, she wished she could. Social insecurity and gawkiness planted her firmly in her seat at one of the numerous tables set for player convenience. Too nervous to eat, she stuck to her glass of wine and spellbook. As if a manifest of the disquiet in her stomach, a small number of butterflies began collecting on the table with her. Harmless, delicate butterflies. She almost chuckled at them as they illuminated the silk table sheets dully. Butterflies in her stomach? They somehow found their escape. Silly creatures, she thought as she sipped her wine again. Despite the fact that the book lay open on the table, she hardly read the lines. She was distracted by the colours of the dancers of the ball. Fanciful gowns flowed as they moved. She felt plain in comparison and played with a charm decorating her pigtail dreads.

The games hadn't even started yet and she was already doubting her value to her team just by appearance, comparing herself to what she saw of the other members. At least with her mask on, nobody would see her face of anxiety.

While not terribly exciting, the ball was still doing an excellent job of holding his attention. Arion Vosnia was watching the dancers from the wall at the moment. He had danced a little bit, weaving between the couples, occasionally breaking in for a quick twirl if he couldn't pass them any other way. Sometimes, he even spun the ladies. Mostly, he kept to himself. He was a much better dancer without a partner. His murder's dances had rarely been intended for couples, and those were all he knew.

Looking around, the werecrow tried to guess where the people around him had come from. Well, those from Zeladis were obvious. Even if they looked like everyone else, or like nobody at all, they smelled like the land they were from. He'd know that scent anywhere. The Malandaians and citizens of Ithus were a little more difficult. Their lands didn't have such a strong smell, and they were a far more diverse group anyhow.

As he was standing against the wall, smoothing his black doublet down a bit and fidgeting with the sleeves of his ivory-colored shirt, he spotted someone with a book and butterflies at the tables. His legs moved before his mind did, and it was only a moment before he was standing across the table from the lady with nothing to say. Instead, his lips simply twitched up, golden eyes twinkling behind his colorful harlequin's mask. Ari snapped out of his mesmerized state after an awkward few seconds. "They're very pretty."

Player on Team Three XXXX Currently Puppeted by Herself

Kaia fiddles with the pendant hanging from her neck. She hadn’t had possession of it before… Morpheus had let her hang onto it for now, but he made it clear that that wasn’t going to last. She wanted more than anything to hide it but that wasn’t going to help her. With everything at the team’s disposal, a location spell would be simple. She would have tried to destroy it had she not known that it was tied to her life force. If it gets destroyed, she will die with it. The thing quite literally housed her life force.

After deciding against trying anything for now, she made her way from the inn to the ballroom. Her gown brushed the ground with each step. Her hair was tucked neatly into an updo and her mask was securely fastened by ribbon. As she approached the ballroom, she could hear the music - violin, harp, flute, and some other sounds she didn’t care to pick out. It was beautiful though.

Upon entering, she circled around the room, checking it out. As she passed a table full of champagne flutes, she picked one up. A little alcohol might put her more at ease. Her plan was to stay away from her team and mingle with team two - Malandaia. Maybe she could find someone she once knew. It wasn’t that long ago she was removed, relatively speaking.

The first person she spotted that wasn’t on her team was a woman in a rather unique dress pouring over a heavy looking book. She looked friendly enough, a bit nervous though. Kaia couldn’t fault her for it. She would be a fool not to be nervous. It just wasn’t wise to show it. Judging by her appearance, Kaia guessed she was on team two.

The lioness decided to talk to her but before she made it to the table, another had beat her to it. ’Nevermind then.’ Kaia would rather stay away from groups. At least for now.

Instead, Kaia wandered the ballroom floor, dancing with this guy and that, none of which were on her team. She never stayed with anyone for long, wanting the chance to find anyone from her past life. She wasn’t searching for anyone in particular. She even doubted there was anyone here.

The island of the goddess, heard from many people that it's really beautiful and breathtaking. Just the thought of not being able to see it with her own eyes saddened Dahlia only a little, but her face remained stern. Sitting down on a bench while her ears pick up couple loud footsteps quickly passing her left and right. Voices of many students sound excited and eager to get into the ballroom. Both her fingers slowly intertwine, wondering if it was even such a good idea to come in the first place. Though sadly she hadn't a choice in the matter. A man suddenly sat beside Dahlia, putting one hand on top of hers. The elf looked elsewhere for a moment and then turned her head to the teacher. "It will be fun Dahlia I promise. There will be a lot of people to meet and maybe you can make a few friends as well?" He assured her with brows raised, along with a small smile that the elf can't see but can feel the emotion from his words.

Soft hands slowly leave his, retreating to her chest.
"I don't want friends. I shouldn't have come here." Her voice calm and yet it made the teacher feel a bit sad to hear his student say that. "Now now don't fret. My sister made this gown and mask for you so there is no turning back from this opportunity." Dahlia quickly responded with a heavy sigh as she continued to face the teacher silently with a slight nod. A bit surprised that her own teacher from the academy would go so far as to not only escort her but giving Dahlia a gift as well. Too late now.

Her teacher got up immediately to look at the view, Dahlia still facing the direction the teacher was until the sound of his footsteps made her head turn again in the right direction. Fingers start to explore the dress as her green eyes stared off elsewhere but her attention fully on the attire. Such soft silk, it's amazing. Dahlia thought to herself. Feet feel the boat halt, noise of chains and a loud boom let her know that they have arrived.

The man escorting her quickly ran back to her and gently grabbed both her hands.
"Time to get off." Dahlia nodded and without warning she felt something press against her face. The elf quickly moved away and brows furrowed immediately. "It's just a mask." He assured her before making another attempt to put it on her face. "I could've put the mask on myself. No need to be a gentleman." She said to him calmly. The man chuckled and took a few steps back to admire the dress, mask and the woman in it. "Ready?" He asked. The brunette gave a quick nod but held both hands out to stop him. "I will be alright getting there." She said to him without a chuckle nor smirk. Still keeping the serious expression on her face as she stood up on her own two feet. "Goodbye and I thank you both for showing such compassion and generosity. I can handle things from here." Dahlia bowed her head then turned away from her teacher and walked off the boat. Leaving him worried if it was a good decision to put her into the game.

Dahlia followed the sound of multiple footsteps without struggle, almost like a herd of cattle. Both hands intertwined once more against her stomach, walking casually inside the ballroom. Sweet sound of music of the violin made her goosebumps rise up along her arms. Feet stopped, listening and waiting to feel where the breeze is coming from. Behind me is the door.. hmmm. Pointy ears quickly twitch once towards the sound of what seemed to be two glass cups clinking against each other. This must be the table beside me. To my right. Dahlia slowly turned to the right and took four steps forward while her hands feel for what should be the edge of the table. Fingers greeted by something soft like the dress she is wearing. One hand continue to explore the table, finally feeling something that is made of glass. I could use a drink. Only one. Dahlia carefully grabbed the glass cup and brought it to her face, waiting for the edge to bump her lips. When she felt it she didn't hesitate to take a few sips. The cold liquid soothed her throat and the cherry taste made her taste buds tingle. She then turn to the left, facing the crowd from afar. Best to remain here. Dahlia just stood there, enjoying the sound of the music and people chatting while sipping away at her wine.

Awful, just awful. She had known it would be a drag, this whole banquet, ball thing, but really, it just seemed so dull. She had been entreated to leave her weapons back in her own quarters. Of course, the red head hardly needed a weapon. She could use a rune or, if she really needed to fight, she could use just about anything as a weapon with enough determination. Especially these accursed heels that she had been wearing. In her particular line of work, dresses and heels were not things that were normally in her closet. Masks were, but there were a different kind of masks. Thinking about it, with so many people here in the ballroom, it would be so easy to break into their rooms in the inn next to this ballroom and ransack the place, robbing them blind. Just the thought of doing such a thing brought a cheshire smile across her perfectly painted lips. Regardless of how much she wanted to do that, doing such a thing would not help her obtain the objective for the night.

While Shamera had been on the island for a good couple days, she had not spent the time getting to know the people, but rather trying to get to know the island. While she wasn't technically the leader of her team, she maintained that she should have been. If only they hadn't disqualified her for "cheating." No, if she was cheating, they would have known much quicker. Regardless, she would still voice her opinion when she felt like it and had even figured some good spots to set up a base of operation. In theory, that is. So, having spent so much time away from the people and more focusing on the island, tonight was the night in which she would size up the competition. She wouldn't bother with her own teammates. They'd have all of the games to get to know each other. No, her main objective was to observe and engage with her opponents. To learn what made them tick and to figure out how to exploit that information for later on in the games.

As Sham's eyes boredly scanned over the congregation of people, she began to feel a little under-dressed. In her line of work, dresses weren't really commonplace so she hardly owned a dress much less an elegant one like so many of the other ladies wore. While the sleeves of her dress were silk and there was some golden thread used for embroidering the trim of the dress, she seemed to look less the part of a participant. The red head adjusted her mask a little as her green eyes followed each participant, watching and waiting, figuring out who would be her first target. She hoped that whomever it was wouldn't be too boring, but she didn't hold her breath. She had a feeling that most of those from Ithus would probably fall into the boring category. Either that or they'd be kids, who she hardly viewed as a challenge to her.

Where am I?: The Ballroom, off to the side
What am I doing?:
Who am I with?: No one
What am I thinking?: I really don't wanna be here, but I need to scope out the competition.
How I am Feeling?: Bored
What am I wearing?: This atrocity
Out of Character: Not the best, but it's somethin

Music of the Moment

██████ ███████ ████████ ████████

When lost in utter darkness, there is nothing left but forwards.

████████ ████████ ███████ ██████

To say Mana was scared would have been an understatement, here she was, on an island she had never been to, with people she didn't know, who she was told she would have to fight. She couldn't believe she had let Siel talk her into entering the tournament in the first place, then again, she never had been able to refuse Siel. The fact she was here was the ultimate proof of that. At the moment, the young woman was doing her absolute best to remain unobtrusive, but her size made that... difficult, to say the least. Not only was she uncomfortable due to the fact that she was here with a bunch of people she didn't know, but on top of that, she had managed to break her mask, and her dress, while rather nice by her standards, was a simple thing, just a plain white dress, with no real ornamentation to speak of. Looking around her, at the people in all of their finery, it only accentuated the feeling that she didn't belong, and of course, there were all the sideways glances that had been shot her way when she had first entered. Since she had taken refuge in the corner of the room, those had lessened greatly, but still...

Despite her angst however, Mana was still well able to take stock of those currently in the room, as well as separate the ordinary from the unique. It wasn't that difficult, she and Siel hadn't been such successful mercenaries for nothing. At the moment, three people caught her interest, or well, at least were different enough to be noticed. One was an elf, or so she assumed from the ears. The way she moved... blind perhaps? It certainly looked that way, but it was impossible to be sure without asking, and Mana wasn't about to go and do that, not in a million years. The second most intriguing to her at the moment was a dark skinned woman, sitting across from a man, surrounded by luminescent butterflies. Lastly, there was a woman dressed in crimson, who seemed to have a sort of aloofness about her. The way she moved...

Mana shook it off, her hands fluttering nervously as she moved to a nearby seat that looked large and sturdy enough for her. She didn't make any move to eat or drink, and found herself wishing she had her hammer with her more with each passing minute. It was odd, but she had been together with the ancient artifact so long she had bonded with it the same way a child would bond with a stuffed animal. It was her friend, her companion, something she could talk to that would never betray her. She caught herself gripping the edge of the table nervously, hard enough that the wood was groaning under her grip, and let go quickly, before she broke it. That was one thing Siel had taken a great deal of time to help her with, controlling her absurd brute strength.

The thought reminded her that Siel had said it would be best if she talked to others at the ball, determined possible allies and enemies, but... Mana couldn't bring herself to do that, not in the slightest. Perhaps she would get lucky, maybe, maybe people would come to her and talk, and then she wouldn't have to go again. That would be helpful, that would be incredibly helpful... Still, part of her thought that was very likely a vain hope, but she could hope for it nonetheless, couldn't she?

Beginning to feel overwhelmed by the emotional chaos of the room, she would find herself looking for a way out of the crowd. it was rare for her to face such complications but the room ran high and it was beginning to get heavy. With a soft sigh she gazed around the room a crystal glass filled with a striking red liquid rolled gently threw her fingertips as she over looked those around her for the most vacant area she could discover. Nikita looked gently at the spiraling liquid and smiled the red reminded her of home, with vampire nobility as parents red was a color she found comfort in. she was no vampire herself yet her family surrounded their home in the sensual color. Her train of thought remained on the symbolism of the beverage until a crack in the crowd revealed a balcony to the southwest of the building. With a shimmering smile she quickly began her journey to relief.

Suddenly a man stood in her way extending his hand and asking for a dance. Her crystal blue sapphires traced up the man who overall reflect a flirtatious sort of smitten. Brushing back her blond locks she let her gaze meet his. “it is truly a pleasure but I must decline” she spoke eloquently before turning slightly to slide past his shoulder. The man watched her leave with sight discouragement before returning to the party and Nikita continued out to the balcony through the gorgeous glass doors. Leaning over the railing of the balcony. she sighed a soft sigh of relief for the cool air and the beautifully clear sky, it was much quieter and much less chaotic finally which gave her a short moment to finally relax. Crossing her delicate arms over the top of the railing she would hang the glass gently over the edge and rest her head on them spinning the liquid as she leaned over the balcony Nikita watched it spin almost hypnotic the liquid splashed around. She remained lost in thought until a floating lantern made its way into her view. With a delicate smile she extended her hand to let the rim of the lantern land delicately on her fingertips. The parchment it was made of was soft and the dim amber warm. Softly she closed her eyes and crinkled her nose making a with before she lifted it gently back into the sky. It was a beautiful sight to see the little lantern reunite with the many already high in the sky.

Her soft smile faded with a sip of her drink and a glance down at the river below. The water moved so calmly she almost envied its grace under pressure. Her skin glowed spiritually under the moonlight and the warm glow from the party inside fought with the moons light to aluminate the girl as she remained still overlooking the land in front of her. She was a thief trained specifically for team three and although her past is a blur she always knew herself to be different then most in her faction but this was an anomaly she tried very hard to dwell on it only gave her a head ache and that over whelming feeling of frustration when you can not remember something that you know is there.

"Reborn in a flame, saved by kindness, but who ever saves a monster?"

His every movement graceful and fluid. His hand slid down the arm of his partner gently his fingers teased at her skin as their hands met. He raised his up her followed like a shadow leading her into a soft twirl, her shoes clacking against the polished ground her dress flourishing with every motion. A mask could not hide the eyes that stared out, the slight twinkle in the iris that enchanted those who stared, the smile that promised so much and the touch that shooed away all fears. He stepped back in sync with his partner their dance continuing as he pulled her close she spun again resting her back against his chest their arms out as they stepped synchronized to the orchestral harmony that played in the background. What a night.

Phantom memories flashed in his mind, brief still images of a similar movement. The faint whispers of memories long since forgotten, silver winds that whipped in the cold of a castle as he danced the dance of fate with another partner, how such memories taunted him, memories of a life... of a monster long since lost.

He spun his partner once more before dipping her deep for the conclusion of their dance. Pulling her close he smiled softly down at his mystery dance partner whose lips opened as if to speak though she could not find the words. "Enchanting." He said in a calm deep voice. His words sending a small chill up her spine. He lowered his hands letting them trace along her back until finally he let her go, her eyes blinked as if awoken from a trance though no such magical trickery had been performed. She smiled laughing lightly at his remark her soft chuckle spreading another smile on his face.

"It was a pleasure." She said holding out her hand, his open gently wrapped around before he leaned in kissing the top tenderly. He pulled up releasing her hand once more.

"The pleasure was all mine." She turned leaving the dance floor looking back only once before disappearing into the crowds. The man smiled moving himself off the dance floor as well. A waiter addressed him offering a drink to which he partook with no hesitation. Lifting the crystal glass to his mouth he gently sipped on a golden colored drink, two large ice cubes rattled sweet chimes as he shifted the glass back and forth. His eyes scanned the area, some faces were familiar others alien to the member of the Second Team. All he could wonder was who was to be an enemy and who was to be friend?

But tonight was not for such thoughts. Tonight was a night to remember, a night to celebrate. He tore himself from the wall again finishing his drink before setting it down on the serving tray. He walked tall, a sign of his former arrogance, the Vampire who took so much only to be shown mercy by a dying Phoenix, an odd twist of fate but then again what was life without a little spice? And the company present was full of spice. So many powerful auras danced tonight, powerful warriors capable of turning fortresses into rubble, mages with the power to dominate the elements, rogues with the stealth of a ghost, a silk lined dagger, if there ever was one.

With her head turned, watching the door as new arrivals stepped in. There were a number of interesting face. Well, masks. With masks, it was impossible to really tell what their faces were. One particularly interesting person to watch was an elf who seemed to walk in a numb manner. She wore a lovely slim gown with intricate, ornate patters. It was honestly gorgeous. She walked in a sure manner, however. It wasn't likely she was looking for much of company by the way she nearly immediately stepped to the drinks. Maev understood that. That was nearly the exact thing she did when she made her appearance to the ballroom. A drink definitely would make the entire ordeal a little more palatable.

Quick timed reactions weren't among Maev's strong suits. While she wasn't paying the best attention, one of the participants of the ball approached her table. She hardly saw the slight motion while he stood there, but when he spoke, she nearly jumped. Immediately, she tried to casually play over her surprise. It wasn't casual at all. In fact, by her nervous tone of voice and stutter, it was clear that she was anything but casual. She shakily laughed and looked at the only pretty thing that she thought he could be referring to. "O-Oh, yes! Yes, they're very cute. They make a good...," she paused to collect the right words. "A good party trick, right?! Look," she gestured to them again. She disgracefully rose from her seat and tried to turn her butterflies into small entertainment. She held her hands with her palms toward the critters. With a dull glow in her tattoos, she morphed into one mass of dim light. The light moved and shaped as if it was made of sand until it took the shape of a small hummingbird. True to it's nature, the tiny wings hummed as it darted around the newcomer, bobbing about and exploring the air immediate to both of them. She chuckled timidly.

She scratched her jaw momentarily, taking a second to readjust her mask. The slight adjustment hardly made a difference. Her entire face remained covered. Now slightly skewered to the left. She did her best to shuffle around the table without being too awkward, but the action was not smooth nonetheless. She cleared her throat and held her hand out to be shaken. "Maev. I-I'm Maev.... Barclay." Smooth. An entire new wave of anxiety bubbled in her stomach. She could cast spells all day, absolutely, but talk to strangers? That was something she never found a book to study on. Her social skills were horrendously inadequate. As a few seconds of her hand being suspended in the air between them, a fear that the stranger would ridicule or mock her arose.

After drinking the last drop of her wine, Dahlia used one free hand to feel around on the table. Finding enough space to place the empty glass down. What to do now? She thought to herself. The lovely music calmed her greatly, but still felt a bit uneasy about being here. So much chatting and moving all around her, knowing that it's best to stay standing or find a chair to sit in. I wish to have my staff with me. She sighed softly. Without it she felt lost like a little child looking for his mother.

Ears could tell by the loud click clack of heels and shoes that there are many people that have arrived so soon as she did. Nose sniff a few times, picking up the sweet aroma of food to her right on the table. The smell of the fresh bread reminded Dahlia of when her mother used to always cook sweet rolls as a dessert after their meals. Delicious taste of honey along with the bread was a great combination and became one of her favorite treats.

Suddenly, her stomach started to rumble just a little. One hand quickly add slight pressure against the hungry beast to keep it at bay. Dahlia felt her round cheeks beginning to heat up towards such an embarrassing moment. I should eat something. Head slowly turn to the right and casually walked down beside the table. Using her nose to sniff out where the bread is and when she finally found it's location she snatched one up. Fingers greeted with warmth and such soft texture which made the brunette smile a little. She quietly ate away at the bread but reminded herself to eat properly since she is in public. Though she still didn't care what people think of her, just wanted to show manners like any lady would when eating.

After finishing off the last piece she slowly turned around. Standing still once more and in her mind she wondered if it's safe to walk elsewhere through the crowd. Wasn't really here to mingle, just to get a good feel of the place and listen to the music. However if someone were to approach, well she would try her best to start a conversation. Dahlia raised one hand up to her face, moving it forward to bump against her mask and started to adjust it for comfort before straightening her posture.
