The Silph parents had always been a prosperous family. Full of love, wealth and connections, they lead a full life with three sons, James, Stephen, and Kain. They gave their children everything they needed from material objects to education. But money can't buy everything. When Kain was but four years old, his eldest brother was taken from him overseas, where he died while enlisted in Kanto's Armed Forces. Stephen, the next oldest followed his brother soon after in a car crash just a few months later. And when Kain turned six, his mother's health was steadily declining. After his mother died, his father remarried when Kain was eight to a younger woman with high ambitions. After she gave birth to a son, named Sterling, Kain's father passed away quit suddenly and all rights to the Silph Company were transfered to her. With his father out of the way, Kain's stepmother aptly removed him from the picture by legally emancipating him and aptly sending him off to his "Pokémon Journey", telling him that "he wasn't good enough" for the legacy anyway.
