The light was sallow, a yellow bulb dimmed by a simple shade. The curtains were drawn tight to block out the streetlights inconveniently placed outside of his hotel room. The ceiling fan clicked repetitively above him, those pale green eyes locked on to the stupid string that was spinning below it ever so slightly. There he lay, as he had been for god knows how long, glaring up at the tacky textured ceiling, trying his best to ignore the obnoxious egg that so adorably mocked him from the desk across the room.

This was stupid.

Rolling over onto his side, his tourmaline glare settling on the pink and beflowered egg. This was not the first egg Kain had ever hatched, not by a long shot. Back in Kanto, breeding and selling rare Pokémon was how the blonde had gotten by. But this was different. He knew nothing of what lay sleeping inside. What were its parents? Their types? Rarity? He knew nothing except that whatever it was, it was bound to be as pink and floral as its egg.

Did they know who he was?

Kain ground his teeth and sat up. Of course they did, or else he wouldn't be here. Was it random, a chance? He rolled his eyes, leave it to fate to pair Kain Silph with something stupid, soft and pink. If felt like an insult, no matter how he looked at it. With a sigh, he stood and walked over to the desk and, after a moment of hesitation, he sat down, lowering his head to be eye level with the feminine shell.

"They want me to write about you," He said to the egg, "To tell them how excited I am, how amazing you are going to be."

He pulled out some stationary and a fine black inked pen. He wrote the address they had given him, and peeked back up at the egg, watching as it entered one of it's wiggling fits. It almost seemed to be purring.

"I don't know what you are, but you better be pretty damn amazing."

Slowly, the egg stopped and once agian all Kain could hear was the click click click of the overhead fan. He sighed and began his letter.

My Dearest Professors,

May I first begin by offering my utmost gratitude for extending to me your gracious welcome. You are too kind, and I know for a fact that my father, had he been alive to hear of it, would thank you most kindly. The island is simply stunning and the people are more than helpful. I can tell, this place, this experiment, will lead to a fine friendship between you and I.

Now, let us get down to business, shall we?

It has been nearly a week now since I arrived onto Elovve Island and placed myself into your careful hands. A suggestion, if I may? Perhaps, on the next wave of newcomers, I believe that you should allow there to be a choice in the first Pokémon obtained from you? For some of your guests, at least. I must say, I would have rather obtained something a bit more reflective of my class. Do not misjudge me, please. I am positive that this tiny pink egg will eventually become another of my beautiful and stunning creatures.

As you know, this is not the first time I have dealt with a breeding program. Back on the mainland, in Kanto specifically, I climbed quite a few rungs on the breeding specialist's ladder. Beautiful and rare Pokémon are, of course, highly sought after, so I made my niche there with quite a few successful breedings resulting in alternate coloration in the offspring.

Now, for the information you have been eagerly waiting for.

I have brought with me two incubators, top of the line and state of the art. A sterling silver lined glass cylinder, complete with self-heating system, lush pillow, and, of course a Luxury Ball for the baby to be placed in once they hatch. These are quite compactable, both fitting comfortably into my backpack when empty. With these, I am able to monitor the Pokémon's growth rate while keeping it safe and healthy. Again, I do truly wish you allowed us a choice in the decision, as I could have prepared a specific health regimen for the child once they arrive. For now I have done my best to recreate my basic formula using ingredients found here. I believe it should do until I learn more about the creature's typing and condition.

Everyday, the pink egg becomes more and more active. Its movement has gone from mere shaking to what seems to be a gleeful wiggling. Sometimes, a low sound emanates from the shell. it is difficult to tell through the glass case, however, I think it is becoming quite excited to see the world.

Of course, that means that I will be fully using Mato's capabilities as a trainer town once this egg hatches. My short term goal is to prepare the start to my new collection for the hard road ahead and take up the Trainer's Challenge. Training will be hard, but a means to an end that I have been working towards for most of my life.

Again, I really must thank you for my entry into this program. I think it will ultimately end with us both closer to our goals and far more profitable. You will hear from me again soon, I suspect.

Sincerely,
Kain Lee Silph
