This is Tinkerclans border. It must be patrolled every so often.

Both my parents were fools...
I refuse to make the same mistakes they did...
By the time i'm done I will have led an army of warriors through this land...

The two of them traveled together in the direction of Tinkerclan border. They would chat with each other off and on, stopping to hunt every so often.
Now the two of them stood just on the edge of the border that seperated Cliffclan from Tinkerclan. Duskstar stood on the edge, peering across the border with no fear of being caught. She was scanning the other side for any signs that they weren't alone. Surprisingly she couldn't see or scent anything at the moment. But then again the little wind that blew was currently blowing toward TInkerclan. She lowered her head and made it seem like she was sniffing for any enemy scents on their side, but her eyes were roaming back and forth along the border. As she very slowly took one step after another she would stop every few minutes she would renew the scent mark then continue her search for any easy access across the border. With her nose to the ground still she purposefully spoke loudly to Oakshadow "Hey let me know if you see any of those Tinkle kittypets." she knew that if any of those Tinkerclan cats were around, her insults would surely draw them out. Like all clan cats they were very prideful and most of the young ones were stupid enough to take the bait.

No I have learned for them.
And every cat will know that Cliffclan is the strongest!!!

Oakshadow laughed and mewed, "they're not around, but nice try" he looked around. He had friends in the other clans, and he knew when their border patrols and such were. He was kind of confused that they told him, but he wasn't going to ever use it against them... Right? He gazed at the border, he really wouldn't try to hurt the other clancats unless Duskstar or his deputy told him too.

She gave the ground one last sniff as her ears swerved toward her clan mate. She couldn't help but wonder how he could be so sure of something like that. She gave him a side way glance. Is Oakshadow a traitor? she was quick to think badly of the tom. But the more she dwelled on such thoughts she knew they were stupid. He may be overly friendly but Oakshadow is far from even being considered a traitor. she silently chuckled at the stupidity of her own mind. Raising her head once more she moved along the border till she spotted a group of bushes that lay scattered. They started at their border then grew thicker as it went further into the enemies territory. She paused and studied what she saw. It could prove very useful. She went to take a few steps forward when something happened. Her right paw landed on what she thought to be solid ground. Instead her paw fell through causing the leader to fall forward. Using her back legs, her claws digging into the ground, she managed to pull herself backwards so she wasn't injuried. When the dust had cleared there before her was a hole that had been covered. She sniffed at the hole curiously. What she smelled caused her whiskers to tremble. There was a slight scent of Tinkerclan cat, but it was old. In fact she almost hadn't caught it. Lifting her head she called out for Oakshadow "Hey I think I found something, might be just what we've been looking for. But to use it were going to have to have every cat go through special training." as he approached her she took a step back to let him see the hole she had found. It was big enough to fit even their largest cat comfortably.

Oakshow glanced downwards and mewed unsurely, "I'm not sure this is safe. Some cat is going to have to test it to make sure that it's safe. Are you sure you're willing to try this idea. If you are, I'll be supporting you all the way.." his amber eyes worried, but certain. He would do what his leader said in a heartbeat, no matter how bad of an idea it seems to him. He would be loyal to the end.

She was a little hesitant in her reply, one could see that she was second guessing herself. But for some reason Duskstar couldn't take her emerald gaze away from the hole. It was as if it was calling her. Her paws itched to go forward. She gave a slow nod as she spoke in a shaky tone that one might mistake for fear, but it wasn't fear that made it shake. It was the temptation of the unknown. "Yeah i'm sure...But no worries I wouldn't ask for any cat to risk their life for something like this, not when it's my call to make." she softened her tone at the last little bit. Looking to the tom and giving him a reassuring look before she placed a paw into the hole. She paused as she looked into the darkness. Something was willing her forward but her instincts were screaming at her for fear of the closed dark space. Swallowing she dove on in not knowing what awaited her.

She was only gone for fifteen minutes before she reappeared. Her fur was covered in dust and there was a worried look upon her face. Once she was done pulling herself out and giving herself a good shake she mumbled "There's too many tunnels down beneath there to know for sure where were going. It's a good option but would take a lot of time to figure out where all of them lead to." she started to lick her paw but pulled it away with a hiss of disgust. Her paw tasted like all sorts of rotten things. Maybe being underground wasn't the best idea if she was always gonna taste like this.

Oakshadow nodded, and while he waited for her to get back, he hunted a bit more. When he saw her, he got flustered and jumped a bit. He padded over to her. He looked at her and mewed kindly, "we should head back, you know, to tell the rest of the clan about what we found." he gazed at his leader, concerned but calm. Oakshadow sighed, and padded a few tail lengths before looking back. Then, he slowly continued, giving her enough time to catch up.

Dirt still clung to her pelt as she reluctantly followed the tom. She had taken only a few steps when she stopped once more to look behind her. She kept staring at the hole with a mix of fear and excitement. Unknown to Oakshadow the leader was hiding something from him. What spooked her so was that she had met a cat of their clan. Obviously he was now in Starclan but he had told her of the route that could lead them just outside of the Tinkerclan camp. But she wanted to see this for herself.
When she finally tore her gaze away from the hole she caught a flicker of red coming from one of the bushes on their side of the border. Forcing her fur to lie flat she calmly gazed in the direction she had seen it. At first she had mistaken it for a fox. But the scent that clung to the air was as familiar to her as her own clan mates. Her ears perked up curiously What is he doing here?[iI] she silently wondered. A tail poked out and motioned for her to come. But she couldn't. She cast a quick glance toward Oakshadow who still had his back turned from her. I will meet with you later. she silently promised the hidden cat.
She quickly caught up to the tom "Maybe we should keep this to ourselves, at least till I've had a chance to speak with the deputy and a few elders about it. I don't want the clan getting all excited...or the apprentices getting any ideas." though her voice lost its emotion and a frown was on her face her whiskers trembled with laughter that no one would hear. She remembered what she was like as an apprentice, always doing things the adult cats told her not too. No doubt one of the young cats would do just that if they were told of this hole. But it wasn't for the safety of her clan that made her want to keep silent. The she-cat wanted to see what her father had to say to her. The old tom didn't show up unless he had information for her.

Oakshadow glanced at her, somewhat confused. He shook his head and mewed, "that makes sense..." He had caught the scent of something, it was barely distinct, but he knew it was there. He knew she had smelled it too, and he hoped she knew what she was doing. He wanted to tell her that the cat was dangerous, but didn't want to offend her. So, he just tried to ignore it. He padded back to camp without another word to her.

The proud leader had just reached the border that seperated Cliffclan from Tinkerclan. She stood there at the edge, her eyes closed as she listened to movement from a nearby tree. Not even a muscle tensed as a light thump sounded behind her and her fathers scent filled her senses. As she turned her head to look at him an unfamiliar ache filled her. She could never understand it but a part of her was always happy to see him. She was tempted to greet him by rubbing against him but one glance and she knew that would be a bad idea. Something was wrong. Now facing him she cocked her head curiously to the left. "What's wrong?" she questioned. His tail flicked one way then that, his eyes were blood shot from what she could only guess was a lack of sleep. His right ear continuiously twitched as he looked around them. He was acting weird...Even for him. "Their coming to the forest, slobbery creatures, enemies of cats." The more he spoke the wider his eyes got. It should scare her but by the crazed smile that grew on his lips it actually intrigued her. He fixed her with a sinister look "But there might be a way to train them to use against the other clans. I've heard stories of a cat doing it once....Obviously his plan was mettled with but YOU could make it succeed!" Duskstar pondered over what he was telling her as she sat neatly upon the ground, her tail neatly covering her paws. "Anything else you wish to tell me?" she tried not to make it seem like she was too interested in what the older cat was saying. She had learned over the years if she showed too much excitement the older cat would become pushy about the plans he suggested to her. "Oh yes! Tinkerclan, their leader has a...what would you call it...Weakness." Duskstar arched a nonexsiting eyebrow, indicating to him to continue. "He has a sister...Petalpaw I believe she's called. She was made into an apprentice and would be such an easy kill for the dogs. Might even weaken the leader a little bit. I would suggest you hit them very soon. They are weak...well I guess they've always been weak." he gave a crazed giggle before shutting his mouth. THe she-cat watched her father, sympathy shining in her emerald gaze. If only you hadn't betrayed my mother...You could have taught me so much. there was no denying that she admired this cat that stood before her. His fur was matted, chunks missing here and there. He was going blind on his left side. His bright red fur for which he had been named for now looked dull and brittle. Three inches of his tail was missing. It was a sight that should have broken her heart...Yet it didn't. All it brought was pity that this proud cat had been reduced to helping his own daughter, which he had denyed when she was nothing more then a kit, go through with plans he had been too stupid to go through himself.
Their meeting had come to an end. There were no real goodbyes, no chatter of how life was going. He just told her he'd have more information in for sunrises, then he was gone. Duskstar left as well. There was no reason to linger here anymore.

The she-cat walked with a confident stride as she drew closer to the Tinkerclan border. She could smell the strong stench of the long ago banished deputy and her father. When she was standing a few tail lengths from the border she paused and turned her head ever so slightly to the left, peering at a large tree that was starting to rot at the base. The old tom was hidden, but he couldn't seem to hide his scent. Her lips twisted into a smug smirk as she meowed out "You should probably take a bath if you want to hide your scent better." her head turned just in time to see the old tom jump out of the tree and land rather ungracefully on the ground with a loud thud. A growl rumbled in his throat as he turned a crazed, hostile look toward Oakshadow. He advanced on the tom that was a little shorter then himself. But he was stopped in his tracks when Duskstar stepped between them with a warning snarl of her own "He's not to be touched." she told him in a commanding tone. His look of anger faltered as he looked at his daughter, this was....odd. His questioning gaze traveled from his daughter to the cat who stood behind her at the moment, looking him up and down. After a moment a sly smile appeared on his lips and he took a few steps back, chuckling like a mad cat "I see what's going on here." he meowed a he sat back on his hunches and looked to his daughter. Duskstar made the slightest twitch of her tail, she didn't want to encourage her father to continue. "Are you done?" she asked him, not hiding the annoyance that laced with her words. He eyed her for moment, looking as if he wanted to go rambling about some more of his crazed ideas. But the look Duskstar gave him made him forcefully nod his head and stay quiet. She stepped off to the side, looking over at Oakshadow "You probably know this cat as the banished deputy." she began before pausing. She was starting to second guess herself, but it was too late now. She took a deep breath before continuing "But I know him as Redclaw, my father." there was no affection in her tone, only coldness as she turned that hard emerald look on her father "Redclaw, this is Oakshadow. He's one of my most trusted warriors and one of the few that will be told EVERYTHING." she made herself look bigger as she emphasized the last part on purpose. The older tom looked surprised by this, that look slowly changed to disappointment. He cast his eyes downward as he gave a small understanding nod. "You know this trust will be your down fall, in the end they always betray you." his words were but a whisper, but they were filled with sadness. He refused to look at either of them, his fur ruffled and ears flattened against his skull. Duskstar could see the disappointment coming from her father in waves but pretended not to notice. She didn't understand the meaning behind his words, but she still stood proudly and was glad she had introduced him to her father.

<Oakshadow>
He still didn't like the tom, but he knew there was no immediate danger. He dipped his head calmly to the banished cat. His amber eyes were bored as Redclaw rambled on. He wouldn't be disloyal, but, the crazy old tom could believe whatever he wanted. The warrior sighed. He had to feel kind of sorry for Redclaw. Even if he wasn't the nicest cat to his mate, the banished deputy was still once was a small, helpless kit, just like Oakshadow was. He wouldn't get very close to him, but, he wouldn't cause any issues reguarding Redclaw. He nodded to his leader, as if saying, 'go on.' He was curious why Duskstar wanted her father to be part of this.

The she-cat could practically slice through the tension in the air with her claws. She looked between the two and mentally let out a long sigh. Neither one of them seemed to understand why she was doing this, her father on the other hand didn't wish to understand. He believed what she was doing to be wrong. In a stern tone she instructed the old tom "I want you to explain to Oakshadow what you told me earlier, now." The older tom looked reluctant to say anything but he finally mocked bowed his head in respect and half heartedly explained what he had told Duskstar earlier. He told him of the dogs that were closing in on the territories, the tunnels, Shadestar's sister, that the Tinkerclan is one of the weakest clans at the moment. He conveniantly left out how he had gathered such information. The younger tom didn't need to know EVERYTHING about him when he didn't trust him at all yet. Duskstar sat off to the side, ears erect as she listened to the information for a second time with greedy glittering eyes.

<Oakshadow>
His amber eyes sparkled with acceptance, "not wanting to get your own paws dirty then?" He was half joking. This was a very serious matter. He sighed calmly and mewed, "how do we know the dogs wont come after us, after they've killed off Tinkerclan? How can we be sure that they wont turn on us? We don't want some of our clan getting killed as well. If the other clans decide to attack ours, I mean." His tail twitched with worry. The plan could backfire greatly. They needed to have a back up plan!

The old tom shot him a guarded glare, nearly growling at him in the process. It was something Duskstar didn't miss in her silence. She waited till Oakshadow had finished speaking before nodding for Redclaw to continue speaking. He was still a little reluctant to share anything with Oakshadow but he spoke with a gruff and scratchy tone "We use the cliffs to deal with those mangy creatures." he told him as if that explained everything. Duskstar waited for him to continue but he turned his head to the side with his nose up in the ear. "Redclaw." she let out a feral snarl and rose to her paws, claws unsheathing. The old tom flinched before speaking once more "There's a pack of twelve on the way, we'll hide the younger cats in the trees before they get here with the queens and the kits. The medicine cat's and their apprentices will stay with them as well as a pawful of warriors. We want to make sure their safe. I don't want any cat to take safety in the tunnels cause these creatures can dig. Warriors confident with the cliffs will use their climbing skills and speed to cause the dogs to run over the cliffs to the sharp rocks below. The place forbidden to younger cats for the simple fact that you need to be skillful to deal with that area." he paused for a breath and glanced over to Duskstar. She merely nodded to continue once more. He heaved a defeated sigh "Those bumbling creatures can't climb that well but usually try to follow. Those that don't go over will get attacked by a second patrol much bigger then the first and the rest should follow. If possible it would be a good idea to see if they would take refuge in Lotusclan after dealing with Tinkerclan. But if it doesn't work we can stick to that plan to deal with those mangy drool faces." He spat out the last part with his ears flattened against his skull. He was looking off to the side with an angry look and his head drooped. He looked like an apprentice being scolded. When he was done Duskstar finally spoke "Now was that really so hard?" she teased the older tom who grumbled a reply "More then you think." She dismissed his grouchy reply with a wave of her tail before looking over at Oakshadow. "That's what we have so far, but we have three days to fully think this over before it all goes down." she waited to see if he had anything more to add.
