>Duskstar< Proud Leader of Cliffclan Both my parents were fools... I refuse to make the same mistakes they did... By the time i'm done I will have led an army of warriors through this land... The lighting outside was dim, the sun just beginning to rise and greet the world. With a rising sun some ferns began to stir, from behind them poked out a head with twisting colors of orange and black. A pair of emerald green eyes blinked as they adjusted to the light. The she-cat the head belonged to began to look around. Hardly any cat had risen. This caused her to frown downward to where the warrior den. Apprentices sleeping in I can understand but my warriors! a low growl eminated from her throat as she pushed herself out of her den and walked out onto the small cliff ledge. The few cats that were already up looked to her with eager eyes. Well at least not all my warriors are useless. she thought rather bitterly. She waved her tail in the direction of a large orange tom, signaling for him to approach him. Quickly he trotted over to her. It was Tigerstripes, a newer warrior who was eager to prove himself. Lifting a paw to her mouth she licked it a few times before speaking "I want you to lead the border patrol, take four other cats with you. If you've see signs of any cats on our territory I want you to...Give them a message they won't soon forget." there was an evil glint her emerald gaze as the young warrior puffed his chest out and gave a nod of his head, letting her know he wouldn't let her down before trotting off to select a the four other cats to take with him. Once he was out of her sight she looked to her other warriors, her gaze landing upon a small gray she-cat with splotches of white fur on her "Graycloud I want you to take the second border patrol...and allow the apprentices to come with you. They really need to be put to some use around here." lastly was the hunting patrol. As she looked for a cat to lead such a patrol she wondered if maybe she should do it herself. No you really need to look over the apprentices progress you've really been lacking in that. a voice in her head argued. Mentally she sighed and knew it was right. She nodded her head toward a skinny white she-cat "Icewing, I know you just recently came from the nursery but i'd like for you to lead a hunting patrol, we need your good eyes." she gave a small nod of her head before padding off. Now that all the patrols were set up for the morning that just left the other warriors. "The rest of you I want you to split up the duties of battle training, a few more cats for hunting would be nice, someone to help watch the kits so our queens can be allowed to get some food and drink in peace, caring for the elders, hunting training for the apprentices. In fact make sure you run your apprentice ragged today." with that she flicked her tail for dismissal. For her there was one thing she wanted to do and that was wash her fur. She began to give herself a quick bath, all the while trying to figure out what duties she would take on today. Besides warriors are only as good as the cat that leads them. My father too impatient for power, mother too blinded by the weakness of love. No I have learned for them. And every cat will know that Cliffclan is the strongest!!!

>Duskstar< Proud Leader of Cliffclan Both my parents were fools... I refuse to make the same mistakes they did... By the time i'm done I will have led an army of warriors through this land... The she-cat had just finished cleaning the last little bit of fur on her tail when her stomach growled rather loudly. Her ears twitched as she looked downward at her stomach with a heated glare. You will eat after I have done my share of the duties. Till then you will stay silent! she silently scolded the loud voice in her stomach. It didn't respond right away, delaying enough for her to feel a little satisfaction that she had won this argument. But a few heartbeats passed and just as she rose to stand on all four paws it growled loudly once more. Her ears drooped and her face turned into a scowl. Of course the one thing she couldn't silence was her own demanding stomach. Jumping down from her perch just outside her den she landed gracefully and without a sound onto the ground. Without missing a beat she made her way over to the nursery to peek inside. She could see the queen that called this den her own with three bundles snuggled up against their mothers belly's. She wasn't sure why but she preferred seeing the kits like this. It was one of the few times she actually liked kits, all the other times she found them to be a nucence. Pulling away from the den she then procceded to check in on the warriors and next the medicine cat's den. She wanted to discuss some of her plans with some of her senior warriors and as much as she hated it, their medicine cat liked to be there for every discussion...even if all the cat did was tell her she was making bad choices for the clan. My father too impatient for power, mother too blinded by the weakness of love. No I have learned for them. And every cat will know that Cliffclan is the strongest!!!

Oakshadow padded over to his leader, looking as graceful as always. He dipped his head and mewed confidently and kindly, "you should eat, I could hear your belly rumbling from the other side of the camp." He joked lightheartedly. He looked at his leader and awaited her answer calmly.

>Duskstar< Proud Leader of Cliffclan Both my parents were fools... I refuse to make the same mistakes they did... By the time i'm done I will have led an army of warriors through this land... She was just pulling away from the warriors den when the voice of Oakshadow sounded behind her. Her fur ruffled a little, feeling hot with embarrassment, as she turned her head to face him. "You heard that did you." she playfully joked as she glanced in the direction of the prey pile. To her it looked rather pathetic, a pile that demanded the remaining pieces be given to cats who needed it more. She gave a small shake of her head "I'll eat later after the hunting patrol has returned and there's enough prey for every cat to have something to fill their belly with." she replied firmly as she looked back to the tom standing in front of her. Now that she was looking at him she just realized something, she had yet to give him a task to do today. Having already assigned everyone's duties for the days she pondered over what he could do. "So what is it you plan to do today?" she asked him, mostly speaking her thoughts aloud to him. "If you don't want to deal with the apprentices you could join me in a quick border patrol. I wanted to see if I could find any easy ways into the other clans territories. I want our invasions to go through flawlessly." as she spoke of the other clans her green gaze glowed with excitement. The sounds of battle ran through her mind, making excitement flow beneath her pelt. It wasn't a secret to the other cats that she planned to gain territory from the other clans but no cat dared to question her or challenge her. My father too impatient for power, mother too blinded by the weakness of love. No I have learned for them. And every cat will know that Cliffclan is the strongest!!!

Oakshadow appeared unfazed. He pondered over his options, he didn't have an apprentice. If he went they would be glad to have him give pointers. He swiftly decided that he would go on the border patrol. He nodded his head to his leader not worried by her hunger for territory. She was a good cat after all, deep down,- at least he believed that. Oakshadow's eyes sparkled happily, "when are we going? Oh- wait, I see them, we better hurry over." He was always ready for a good border patrol, anyways. He started padding away and mewed "I might be able to catch something along the way for you to eat, or else all the other clans will hear us coming." He joked, quiet enough that no other cat really could hear unless they were really trying. He then quickly bounded over to the rest of the patrol and waited for Duskstar to follow, chatting happily with his clanmates.

>Duskstar< Proud Leader of Cliffclan Both my parents were fools... I refuse to make the same mistakes they did... By the time i'm done I will have led an army of warriors through this land... The moment he mentioned seeing the young cats of the clan she felt a shiver run down her spine. She turned her head to look over in the direction of their den. Out tumbled three of the younger apprentices who were eager to leave the camp. Clearing her throat she gave a small nod of her head "Right I think your right." no cat had ever seen the leader move so fast unless she was fleeing her duties involving the apprentices. She was out of the entrance in a flash, pulling ahead of Oakshadow easily. My father too impatient for power, mother too blinded by the weakness of love. No I have learned for them. Oakshadow laughed at his leaders antics and quickly said goodbye to his friends. He waved his tail in farewell to the apprentices, after mewing kindheartedly, "don't worry about it, she's just eager to go on a order patrol... I think." He quickly chased after her, sprinting out of the camp.

Grayclaw Warrior of Cliffclan "Don't even bother, I'm already leagues ahead of you" A sleek yet muscular tom with gray fur Cold blue eyes, as bright as the sky Despite the commotion of the guild, a cat still slept away in their nest; blissfully unaware that the day had begun. Grayclaw lay curled up in his nest, the tip of his tail twitching every now and then. As the sun's rays began to shine through the warrior's den the tom stirred, a hiss was emitted and slowly he awoke to the world. His bright blue eyes looked off into the distant, still hazy from just awakening, when with a start he realized he was the only cat still inside the den. He jumped from his nest and with heavy paws he pushed out into an already busy camp. With a hiss of annoyance he plopped back onto the ground, extending his forepaws to give himself a brief grooming; sandpaper-like tongue running over to smooth down his fur. He began to grumble; somehow a mixture between both scolding and praising himself. Chin tilted high, pity flashes through the eyes You'll never be as great as him

Oakshadow padded back into camp, his amber eyes flicking desperately for help, but he couldn't tell anycat. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, then became his normal self again. He padded over to Greyclaw and mewed calmly "Hello, Greyclaw. Just woke up?" he joked playfully, noticing his grooming. Then, without waiting for an answer, he padded away to his close-ish friends, he didn't have a best friend, because that meant that he favored one friend over all the others. He sat down and heard the daily chatter, one of them claiming that they had the best apprentice, ect. He usually loved hearing this news, but his mind was still on the strange cat hiding in their territory. One of his friends noticed this, and asked what was wrong. He couldn't tell them, but instead told them "oh, just thinking about the border patrol." Some of his friends mocked him because of the fact that only him and Duskstar were on that patrol. He quickly denied all their thoughts, and laughed, because he loved listening to his friends hoping that he would choose a mate. He just listened to them chatter for a while, cutting in here or there to make a point. He liked having friends.

>Duskstar< Proud Leader of Cliffclan Both my parents were fools... I refuse to make the same mistakes they did... By the time i'm done I will have led an army of warriors through this land... As they walked back into camp the she-cat appeared as if nothing had happened, like this was just a normal border patrol. She was good at keeping things from the other cats around her. But her thoughts were elsewhere, lingering on an image of her banished father. Throughout her life he had secretly trained her, taught her to hide who she truly was. Ever since she was made a warrior he only appeared when he had something very important to her. "Hello, Greyclaw. Just woke up?" the friendly greeting to the other tom caused her to look up. Blinking twice, her thoughts clearing at once, she saw the dark grey tom seeming completely content with wasting his day away. Frown in place she approached him and spoke in a tone that sounded like she was disappointed in him "You enjoying your day?" she sat down next to him, licking her paw once before rubbing it over her left ear. The voices of the cats around Oakshadow reached her sensitive ears. Their jokes caused the tip of her tail to twitch. She almost dug her claws into the earth but stopped herself from doing so. My father too impatient for power, mother too blinded by the weakness of love. No I have learned for them. And every cat will know that Cliffclan is the strongest!!!

Grayclaw Warrior of Cliffclan "Don't even bother, I'm already leagues ahead of you" A sleek yet muscular tom with gray fur Cold blue eyes, as bright as the sky Grayclaw smelt Oakshadow before he heard him, the tom's scent wafting towards him seconds before he was greeted. Still, he couldn't help but tense up, mumblings stopping, and pause in his grooming, though he refused to look up at the cat. Albeit, it would've been in vain, had he bothered to muster up a reply that would even be remotely pleasant with the mood he was in, considering that the tom bounded away before he even had the chance to reply. In mild interest he listened in on the conversation Oakshadow began with the other cats, though soon found that their conversation was nothing more than meaningless chatter, like that of prey.
Though what Oakshadow had commented on did indeed pique his interest; what had been so interesting about the border patrol that he still thought over it now? Grayclaw continued to listen in until the topic turned to Duskstar and he promptly swiveled his ears away, there was no more useful information to be gathered. He gave one last swipe to the shoulder before pronouncing himself clean. With nothing more to do he lifted his head, gaze wandering across the camp before he noticed Duskstar enter, with a barely suppressed groan he realized that she was making her way towards him. "Greetings Duskstar," his mew lacked any real enthusiasm as he replied to the she-cat. "I have indeed, though I feel the need to stretch out my paws soon." His tail tip twitched, the only real sign that he had been bothered by her disappointing tone. He knew he had awoken late, the last cat in fact, she didn't have to say anything about it. Lowering his head onto his chin Grayclaw closed his eyes, "a few cats seem to be hinting towards you and Oakshadow being more than clanmates." There was a hint of amusement in his tone, the only positive emotion he'd felt so far in the day. "So tell me, is it true then? Have you begun to fancy the oh so popular Oakshadow? I hear most of the she-cats see him as the perfect mate." Chin tilted high, pity flashes through the eyes You'll never be as great as him

Oakshadow sensed his leader's anger and quickly silenced them, his amber eyes angry. They backed off at once. Then he licked his chest fur, and they knew he had calmed down, and everything went back to normal. He could still feel their playful joking on the tip of their tongue and mewed peacefully, "how about we go hunting, c'mon. It'll be fun," his voice got lower, so no other cat could hear "and you can tell all the jokes about me you want. " They eagerly agreed, not for the joke part, but they really enjoyed spending time with him. The group of cats swiftly left the camp. Oakshadow told them that he would catch up in just a minute and waited for them to get far enough away, that they couldn't see, or hear him. He padded over to Duskstar, "I'm sorry about them. They don't mean any harm. It wasn't directed towards you at all, I'm sorry you had to hear them." He dipped his head, then left. He quickly gained on the hunting group, and didn't look back. Except once, to see if she would even try to follow him...

>Duskstar< Proud Leader of Cliffclan Both my parents were fools... I refuse to make the same mistakes they did... By the time i'm done I will have led an army of warriors through this land... Her paw lingered at her mouth, tongue halfway out. She felt the fur on the back of her neck rise, her claws slowly sliding out. Her pupils had slitted as she gently placed the paw she had been licking back upon the ground. She opened her mouth to reply to Grayclaw but Oakshadow was there and giving her a quick apology before leaving to join his comrades in a hunt. And probably make her more of their jokes. the passing though caused her eyes to narrow with anger. Before responding she composed herself, hiding the anger that was bubbling beneath her pelt. "If they want him for a mate those foolish she-cat's can have them. I am only interested in what's best for this clan. she replied firmly and matter of factly. She looked down at Grayclaw "Before I start telling Mudflower over there that you have a thing for her I suggest you better start making yourself useful rather then this gossiping." as she turned her head away from him her eyes roamed over the camp. She noticed that many of the cats around her were doing just that. Gossiping...A low growl rumbled in the back of her throat as she mumbled under her breath "Why does it seem like i'm a leader to a bunch of sqwaking birds instead of warriors." a heavy sigh left her lips wondering if maybe she should be a little tougher on these cats. Maybe she was getting soft in her old age. The thought made her mentally chuckle. If there was one thing Duskstar was it definitely wasn't soft. My father too impatient for power, mother too blinded by the weakness of love. No I have learned for them. And every cat will know that Cliffclan is the strongest!!!
