Silver lake mall is the hot spot for all the younger occupants of this quaint Idaho town. The mall has over three stories and no vacant stores. Inside has many stores ranging from clothing to books to music and more. Everyday offers great deals so come on, don't be shy and stop on by!

Bastet scanned the crowded mall, her eyes down, hooded. She was new to this town, new to its crowds. She didn't quite have the hang of how to handle people around here just yet. But she was so, so hungry. She needed to get a score, and now. If she didn't find something to pawn, she'd go hungry today. Yesterday, she'd had to make do with a cheap watch. It'd bought her dollar menu food from one of the fast food joints. She grimaced at the memory. She hated fast food. Disgusting. She could really go for something nicer. Shrimp would be great right now. Good shrimp, not that nasty crap from places like Long John's. Her eyes followed a few figures, possible marks, turning each and every one down after a moment. She scowled. This mall was full of broke teenagers, it seemed. Most were, but usually you found at least a couple of rich housewives carrying a couple thousand in jewelry. Not today, it seemed. Dammit. She sighed a bit, taking a seat on one of the benches, leaning back with a scowl on her face. How utterly annoying. Her stomach growled, and she glared at it. "I know, I know," she told it, wishing that she could feed herself and make it stop. But there didn't seem to be any viable marks... not ones she could get a full, nice meal off of by themselves, anyway. A few kids were carrying electronics that would fetch a fair amount. She assumed that most had wallets or purses, and that they had money in them, but it was so rare to find anyone who carried cash anymore... It was all cards, and without the debit pin, she would need an ID to use one. How utterly inconvenient. Her eyes steadied themselves on a young man a few yards away. He had a pretty nice watch... and an expensive phone to his ear. She smirked and waited for him to get off the phone. When he had it tucked ever so not safely in his pocket, the one on the same side as his watch, she made her approach. The picture of a typical teenage shopper, Bastet managed to bump into him and lift both the phone and the watch. She smiled widely at the take, and then stared scanning for her next target. It wasn't enough for a meal that was up to her standards. She refused to eat fast food two days in a row. Her eyes found an older woman, and she sighed. She hated taking from older people, but... she had just walked out of a jewelry store, and had put something inside. Perhaps she was buying presents for a granddaughter? Bastet's lip curled at that. No one ever bought her presents. Everything she had, she had to steal. That alone was enough justification for her. She approached the woman, her eyes calm, and as she walked by, ever so carefully managed to take the small jewelry box from the woman's purse. Once she was far enough away, she pulled the box out of her own pocket, and looked inside. Pay dirt. Diamonds. Bastet smiled widely and made her way towards the pawn shop, her expression jovial. No Quarter Pounder for her today.

Sophie's Prov

“There we go.”

It felt good to finally be out of that stuffy car and in the open air. They had driven a long way to get here, driving across the state of Nevada in a little car, just the two of them. It had taken a day or two since they had to stop a lot, but it was worth it and Sophie breathed in the rich mountain air as she turn around the side of the car to open the back seat.

The window was rolled down revealing a very thickly padded interior. Blankets and pillows all stuffed in to keep something very small in soft cushioned comfort. That something was wrapped in a thick plush blanket. A frock of brilliant blue stuck out of the top and pulling it back with a finger Sophie smiled at the sleeping child inside it. He looked better now, not as pale as before, the sleep was good for him.

“Alright. Hey-“ she brushed the side of the kids face softly and the child stirred, eventually blinking a pair of very unusual eyes up at the woman’s face. “-We’re here. Let’s get from fresh air, and something to eat. K?”
Silently the boy blinked back at her but inclined his head in a nod. Unbuckling the belt Sophie reached in and carefully lifted the boy into her arms and out of the car. Tiny hands gripped her shoulders, fingers fisting the warm fabric of her sweater and she pushed the stuff back inside, rolled up the windows, and then locked the car. Keeping just the one blanket wrapped around the boy Sophie walked with him towards the front doors of the mall entrance. She needed to get some more food into him. Every little bit made a mountainous difference.

‘Their website said it was here, I can see why.’ She thought. ‘Once we make contact, everything will be fine. I just need to hold out till then.’

'It's going to be ok. We're going to make it.'

User ImageThe mall was fairly busy all the shops open but with not too much traffic. From what Sophie could tell it was a hot spot for the more youthful generation. Typical. These days kids didn't seem to know what to do with themselves, instead they just loiter about aimlessly in a mall instead of doing something constructive with their time.

BOY did that thought make her feel old!
What was she a granny? A mom?
She probably looked like one at least carrying the clinging figure of a small child close to her chest. It's been like that for the past 2 months and still he wasn't as improved as she had hoped.
Truth of the matter was Tsui needed medical treatment- but who could she go to for it?? The hospital was the obvious first choice but then again...
this kid..

Would anyone actually look at him? What would happen if he accidentally used his... t-that thing they all do. Each one was different. Tsui's power wasn't dangerous on it's own, but it could create dangerous situations with the wrong people. Sophie had to avoid those people. They could be anyone.

" Alright, here's the food court."
Trying to avoid eye contact the young woman made her way through the crowds into a main atrium were the food stops lined each wall. The smells of chicken, burgers, teriyaki, and coffee wafted by her nose and at this point was absolutely intoxicating!
She wasn't the only one who thoughts so, as the boys little head poped up slightly from having rested on her shoulder since he was picked up. Wary eyes peeked out form beneath the blanket at the bright lights, loudly speaking chefs and staff, directing the swaths of people to come closer and each their wares.

"I'll get us some soup." she commented, thinking a nice safe udon would be good for the boy's stomach. Walking over to someplace called "Sushiwushi-????" ...O..K...- she ordered two bowls of Chicken Udon no flakes and as the meal was being made she placed the child gently on a bench table facing them.
"I need ot step away for a moment to get our order, I wont be gone long. Just stay there. If...if someone talks to you, ignore them ok? If they touch you, just kick and make a fuss, I'm watching you so don't be scared. It's going to be alright."

Was she reassuring herself or him? Honestly Sophie couldn't tell anymore. Checking her cell phone again she was disappointed to see no new text messages form her ' Contact' who was supposed to meet them.
"They'll come." she muttered some-what confidently as she walked back to get thier order.

Meanwhile Tsui was alone for the time being on the table bench. He sat with his leg bent and splayed in opposite directions, it was the easiest pose for him. He pulled the blanket tighter around himself with tiny boney looking fingers and looked around.
Some people looked, others paid him no mind. An old woman waved at him with a cooing face- probably thought he was some toddler or something judging by his size. He saw no reason to correct her. While Sophie got the food he took the time to take in the environment. He never been around this many people in a long long time. Something about this setting seemed familiar though.

As Sophie thanked the cashier and began walking back with her tray of two bowls something caught her eye. Maybe she was hyper sensitive at the moment, since she was already looking for someone out-of-place, she caught sight of a girl flouncing by the far hall way towards a shop. What stuck out of course was her ears.
It gave Sophie pause for a moment- just a moment though. Second guessing herself she remember that 'ears' even in today's world now, wasn't unusual. There was that 'cosplay' movement sweeping the trendy anime-watching generation. So sporting a pair fo fake ears or even one of those 'belt tails' wasn't unheard of and she so she put ti at the back of her mind.

'Don't jump to conclusions just yet- just eat your food and wait for the call, ok.' she reminded herself.

Bastet left the pawn shop, her eyes bright, her expression sly, her mouth turned up into a smirk. She'd made out like... well, like a bandit, she thought, chuckling to herself at the idea. She snorted. Hard not to do that when a bandit was exactly what you were. She smiled at the thought and tucked a fedora on her head to hide her ears. The man who owned the shop was a mutant; he gave better rates to others like him, especially if he knew they were... struggling, he put it. She smirked. She knew that he knew that she'd stolen the incredibly expensive diamond necklace and earrings. She also knew that he'd given her much more money for them than he would have given a normal person. But she wouldn't complain, because his generosity meant that she would be eating sushi today, which was her favorite. Something about being a cat, she supposed. She walked up to the sushi joint and told the man behind the counter to surprise her. He was familiar to her, the same man who usually took her order. He offered her a smile, totally unaware of the ears under her hat, the tail under her coat. He nodded, gave her a total, and put the order in once she'd paid. She took a seat off to the side of the counter and looked around, her eyes catching a young woman and a small child... a very, very small child. She sniffed the air. There was something... odd, about him. Something very odd. She smirked. Probably another mutant, poor kid. But, none of her business. When the man called her order, she went to the counter and grabbed it, smiling widely and licking her lips before taking a seat at a small table and digging in.

Cue : Twinkling Photon

The girl returned and passed Sophie again on her way to make her own order taking a seat off to the side of the counter. She couldn’t see the girls ears anymore- maybe it was just a fashon thing after all.
Returning to the boy’s side again Sophie took a knife and fork and cut the noodles into smaller pieces before setting it before the boy and sitting down behind him.

“Here we go- looks good huh? Try taking some of the broth first and see what you think of it.”
Feeding Tsui when he first came into her care was difficult, but over time and with patience, he was back to eating semi solid foods in small increments, and without much help either if the portions were not heavy. Pouring about half into a separate bowl she handed it to the child whose tiny hands wrapped themselves around the sides causing the fabric free of his grip to slide down the back of his head.
Tsui’s crown was a bright unnatural tone of blue and long going down over his shoulders. At face value he could have passed for a girl, and Sophie made a mental note to perhaps bring him to a barber while they were here if they had time.
As the boy gingerly sipped the hot liquid, savoring the taste of chicken and herbs he kept looking across the crowd to the girl who had come for food and was scarfing the fish down like it was ambrosia.
He felt exposed like this in such a large crowd. So many eyes.

“How is it? Good? ” the woman probed, and the boy would nod, giving her a little smile which looked a tad strange on such a gaunt face. “Good, I’ll get us something to drink too, just keep sipping it slowly, and wave to me if you need me back- I won’t be far.”
Returning to the sushi stand Sophie ordered some tea, 2 bottles of water and also asked politely if they knew where the closest barber shop was.
Meanwhile Tsui put the bowl back down and took a breath. His boney hands were tired from holding it to his mouth so he looked around some more. So many people. Youths mostly he noticed, with the occasional family or two. Every so often he felt like someone was looking his way and his eyes went down cast, trying to avoid eye contact. Feeling better he reached for his food again to drink some more.

There was something to be said about moving from the big city to a so called 'big' city. That would, it sucks. How on earth could his aunt call this place a big city! There was barely forty five thousand people in this tiny little hell hole. Sure it was his own choice to be here in the boonies but he hadn't thought it would be this bad to deal with. Oh it'll be fun Leo! You'll make TONS of friends Leo! Before you know it you'll want to move here Leo! Good gravey did his aunt have to be so perky about it? Apparently she didn't want him to forget his name either being out here. With a frustrated noise the blue haired boy half tossed the gaming magazine back on the shelf and headed for the exit of the store. This royally sucked. Maybe he should have stayed back home but Abigail needed mom right now and he was just a problem. Thin shoulders slumped as his mind wandered away. She was still in physical therapy not to mention mental since the accident. Hell he should probably be talking to a shrink but frankly he didn't like them. Last one he sat with suggested he be sent to a facility for trouble kids. Honestly Leo didn't know who got more upset him or his mother. Right now family was most important was what she said but Abby wasn't getting better with him around. He was nothing but a constant reminder of what happened. Perks of being an eyesore he guessed. Groaning a bit Leo flopped down onto bench and pulled a brightly colored wrapper from his pocket. Popping the strawberry flavored candy in his mouth he went for his phone, the charms on it swing a bit. No new messages....well either aunt was still at work or something cause she hadn't asked him to come back yet. None from mom either, Abby had a session today anyway. Just because he was across the country didn't mean she forgot about him.

Long phone calls, skype chats and plenty of crazy emails, that's how his mother kept in contact with him. There wasn't a day they didn't talk and a day she didn't remind him how much she cared. She seemed as upset about him being gone as he was. Hopefully by fall things would be settled back home and Leo would be out of this hell bucket. Crushing the remains of the candy between his teeth the young boy got up and headed in another direction. The smell of food met his nose and his stomach growled. He was a growing boy and a hamburger sounded wonderful right about now. With the allowance his mom sent him in mind, the blue hair boy half raced to the food court. Sliding into line at an A&W the ten year old eagerly ordered and waited impatiently to the side. Bouncing lightly on his toes, Leo cast his gaze out over the crowd looking for anything interesting to pass the time. A group of teens hung out in one end of the cafeteria and several couples. One old woman looked at him and shook her head disapprovingly and Leo was unable to resist sticking his tongue out at her. So many people got touchy about the hair. What's wrong with blue? At least it wasn't orange or punch me pink. Apparently people had it out for blue hair too. Hell his mom had purple, green a magenta streaks through her otherwise pale blond hair and she rocked it. No one bothered her about it but put it on a ten year old boy and they got testy.

That's when he spotted him. There was another kid here with a darker shade of hair then his. A smile rose on his face at that. He didn't look much younger then him from this distance and now the boy was even more impatient for his food. Once his number was called he quickly scooped up the tray, filled his drink and snagged what every else he needed before heading that way. Leo saw the woman with him get up and move back towards the sushi stand and idly he wondered if she was his mom. The lady didn't seem the type to let her kids dye their hair. Sliding into a seat on the bench a couple spaces down from the boy he grinned. "Hey! Couldn't help but spot you from the line. I don't see many kids with hair like mine. Where'd you get it done at?" Leo asked as he unwrapped his hamburger. "I'm Leo by the way. Do you think your mom would mind me sitting here with you guys?" He continued in a happy tone that gave no hint to his earlier trains of thought. No need to harass others with his mood at least other kids. Taking a large bite out the burger the older boy cocked his head lightly as he looked at the kid curiously.

Tsui had a small appetite, - or rather he just had to pace himself. Sophie let him in on how much he had to try and eat every day to promote better recovery and growth so he did his best to keep that standard. But eventually he put the bowl down again just as a figure with a swath of blue color came over and sat across from him. His tray settled on the surface with a clatter that snapped his gaze up to attention.
He seemed laidback and spoke to him with such a friendly tone. Sporting jeans, t-shirt, and a yellow jacket, what really caught Tsui’s eye was the lighter shade of blue hair atop his head!

‘ Impossible- no- wait…maybe?’

Numerous short commentaries fought for supremacy in his mind as he tried to think of what to say in reply. The boy seemed nice, and curious. Who could blame him? Still, something confused him- Where-did-he-get-it-done-at?
As the boy unwrapped his burger and began eating, he asked about Tsui’s ‘mother’- and he figured the boy must’ve meant Sophie. To which he looked towards and saw her back was still turned.
How would she react? Well, it wasn’t like the boy was a threat to him. Besides, Sophie would prefer to keep a lid on things. So maybe she wouldn’t risk being rude. With that in mind Tsui came to his decision and turned back to the boy and shook his head, shrugged and smiled patting the table with a free hand.

“f-…”

It hurt. His throat still hurt when he spoke. His voice came out small, and slightly hoarse. Like he had maybe a cold or something.
“-t’s… F- iine. He forced out again.
Tsui didn’t like lying, but he still wasn’t sure about this kid yet. What should he do?
A thought came to him and he went with it. Touching the top of his head with his other hand, boney fingers grasping the long strands. Tsui hadn’t had a haircut so there was a lot to grab.
“- my own d-doing.. He answered. It would mean HE did it himself, or HE was the reason for it- or he dyed it on his own. Good answer, versatile. Quickly he changed the direction of the conversation and pointed to the boys hair.
“Y- ou?”

I'm Forming: Food Court
I'm Dreaming: Wondering if another boy is the same as him
I'm Crafting : Sipping soup
I'm Crystalizing: ((It’s ok! It’s perfect! I’m so excited!))

Was it physically possible for someone to be so tiny? Sure it had to be he guessed considering this kid was sitting in front of him and if he got literal there was the case of babies but that wasn't the point. What he could see of the small kid wrapped up in that blanket made it impossible for him to guess an age. Shoot he didn't just sit down with toddler did he? Then the boy spoke and Leo was surprised. Damn it sounded like it hurt to talk. Once when he was little...well littler, he had gotten strep and just trying to speak made him swear he would never talk again. That was true at least until he got better and it no longer hurt. Leo winced lightly as the soft words came out of the boy honestly wishing he hadn't made the kid talk. Had he been sick lately? Man he hoped he was on the upward swing cause that sounded like a rough round of whatever it was. Chomping down a couple more bites from his burger he watched as the bony little fingers gripped at the strands on his own head. How did anyone get so thin?

His own doing? How the heck did the kid get it down? Then again Leo couldn't argue the claim. How many times had he gotten into his mother's dye kits and 'dyed' his own? A light shiver rolled down his spine at the memory of the day he found the red and orange. His head had ended up looking something akin to raspberry orange swirled sherbet. Not a good picture for school that year. When the boy pointed at Leo's head he smiled lightly. "My mom did it. She showed me how in case it tries to grow out this summer. Mom's pretty good at this kind of stuff but she always seemed to have a knack with colors. Maybe cause she's an artist." Leo answered tugging lightly on one of his pale blue locks. About this time back home Mom and Abby would be getting home from their latest appointment. That meant within the hour he'd have another message detailing how his sister was doing. People might think his mom was neglectful because she let him come out here while she worked with his sister but Leo wasn't one of them. Abby did so much better when he wasn't around as a constant reminder.

"So how long you lived here? I just got here a few days ago myself. Still trying to figure out how this place classifies as a city to be honest." Leo continued with a small laugh. Focus on the conversation kid don't let your attention wander. This was the first person even remotely his age that had run into. He hoped to keep the conversation rolling for a while actually. What else did he have to do? If chatting meant he got to stay away from his aunt's house and talk to someone else with blue hair then hands down he was making small talk. What do you talk about though? Mom had always told him had was never shy about asking thing but the poor thing seemed a bit nervous. Maybe he didn't like talking to random people as much as he did? Ok he needed to stop over thinking things. Had the last few months really shaken him that badly? "Oh I never caught your name. I don't wanna refer to you as 'that other blue haired kid'. Unless you prefer that. Can't quite call you smurf now can I?" Leo joked hoping to put the kid at a bit more ease with his presence. He wasn't always a bad kid....only when it came to homework, and jerky older students, and ok he had the occasional bad habit of swiping things from stores but that was only sometimes.

The mall wasn't the largest in the country, or even the state but with hundreds of people flowing in and out, it was more than obvious that there had to be some sort of crime going on. Theft, bullying, or worse, fraud! That was what Kadence believed. With all her tools in a yellow backpack strapped to her back, she was determined to catch someone in the act. She'd show her dad that she was just as good an investigator as him and perhaps he would let her go with him to work and solve the big cases! But first she needed to find trouble, though she knew she'd have buckets full if her father found out that she went to the mall by herself. But that wouldn't matter once she cuffed her first criminal!

Kadence wandered into a book store, examining the shelves carefully. There were empty slots where customers had chosen and bought books but any one of them could very well have stolen them. She eyed every customer as she made her way to the counter. A man smiled down at her, leaning on his elbows. Kadence had the intention of asking if he had seen anything odd but a tattoo crawling up his arm made Kadence decide that he was untrustworthy. The tattoo had been of a nearly naked woman with a snake coiled around her. The little detective backed out of the store, eyes narrowed and locked on the cashier. When she crossed the threshold, she turned and ran to the next area of the mall. The food court.

The smells mixed with the sight of everyone eating reminded her that she had missed lunch because of her excursion. She put a hand on her stomach and frowned. She didn't have any money to buy herself a meal. She pushed the thought from her mind and set to finding a criminal. There were many families, playing and eating together. Fathers ruffled son's hair, mothers held their babies. Kadence felt tears working their way to the surface of her cool face. She focused her attention on the nearest man, shoved down the tears and decided that he was a bad guy, after all, who would wear that much black. His trench coat went past his knees and his hair was well past his shoulders. She strode up to him, putting on her brave face.
"Excuse me, where were you at eleven this morning?" She asked, guessing that the books from the store had been taken then. The man turned toward her and Kadence yelped in fright. His face was ghostly pale, his lips and eye sockets black as night. A ring hung from the bridge of his nose and two metal poles protruded from his lips. He gave her an angry scowl and Kadence ran to the first two people she saw. It wasn't hard to spot them, their hair stuck out in a sea of brown, blonde, and black. She hunched over by the blue haired boys and eyed the gothic man. She paid no mind to the boys and the fact that she had probably interrupted their conversation and observed. The goth man turned back to his meal and Kadence sighed in relief. It was then that she noticed the two boys. She shot up and straightened herself, standing tall with chin thrust up. "I am sorry to frighten you citizens, but my work can be dangerous as you may have saw!"

Of course he didn’t catch it, the small didn’t remember giving it- but that’s beside the point. Obviously this older boy wanted to talk to him, and though it strained to do so, Tsui wanted tot talk too. Up till now he’d only been able to talk to Sophie. He wasn’t capable of speech till she started treated him- so hopefully one day he’d be able to thank those good people for rescuing him back there.
This person was nice too, just like them. He could tell.

“Ts..ui.”
“ Tsui.”
He repeated. It was an odd name but it made sense given his background. He wasn’t sure quite what he was, but from what he could glean the combination of two nations had to happen in order to land him with Harada as a surname. But he wasn’t pure Asian at a glance apparently either, he figured one of his parents had to be a mixture of Caucasian to make those features not so prominent.
He found it curious this boy liked to dye his hair unnatural colors but perhaps creativeness was genetic- his mother was an artist?

- me too. He mumbled, then realizing he just uttered a non sequitur he tried to articulate that a bit more- “ -an…artist. I mean. I… like to create, colors.“
He drummed his fingers on the table top and grinned, stretching his thin face as he giggled again at being called a smurf. He had NO idea what that was- but sounded like something funny.
“a-anou… what is you na- Just then a young girl scurried over and crouched on one side of the table across from them. Her dark eyes narrowed at some person away in the other direction. Tsui blinked wide eyed at her for a moment. Was she hiding? She was a small girl, maybe about the same age actually- with jet black hair and a yellow backpack.
When she straightened up she addressed them so formally but also.. kinda strangely. Citizens? Where had he heard such talk before? It was unlike any kind he remembered- but perhaps he might have heard that format from the tv upstairs in the shop. Was she someone from tv?
Wait- what did she just say?

-d- ..Dangerous? Are you in danger? he looked genuinely concerned actually and scooted closer before looking around in the general direction she’d been glaring. - f..from what?

"Tsui? Tsui....hmm...interesting name. I'm saying that right, right?" Leo asked playing with the kids name a little. It was definitely foreign but he wasn't sure where from. Maybe Asian? Sounded like the kind of name the people in some of those cartoons he had seen. Not that he could ever remember what it was called. Most of the time his nose was stuck in a video game to be bothered into watching tv. Leo looked at Tsui a bit confused until the boy clarified that he too was an artist. Pulling his phone out, a little playful lion charm swinging off it as he quickly swiped through it to his photo gallery before selecting one and flipping the phone to show Tsui. "See here? That's my mom and little sis a few months ago at the Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C. It was the first vacation we had taken in a while. Abby was so excited for it." Leo said the smile never waning on his face. Abby would like Tsui hell his mother would adore the kid. Anyone who had any creative interest sparked her focus on them. Sure not many people liked the fact that she was a tattoo artist but that wasn't all she did. Her paintings had paid the bills for months before, too bad they had a bad habit of spending it on things for the people in their neighborhood who needed it. His mom always told him to spread the fortune around, that way it made it just that much sweeter. The smaller boy had just started to speak catching Leo's attention when a black and yellow blur came into his vision.

"I am sorry to frighten you citizens, but my work can be dangerous as you may have saw!" What? Who? Where? The dickens? Leo's free hand paused halfway to his mouth a fry perched lightly in his grasp. The girl who had joined them wasn't that much younger then him. Her inky black hair had been pulled back into pig tails that he knew most people had to be thinking were adorable. Not that he'd be thinking that after all she's a girl and girls are icky. Shut up. "Oh well hello to you too. Sure sure come on in and join us. At least I asked before I sat." 'Well kinda asked. I had already sat done but hey I would have moved if Tsui said too. Not the point' "So what's with this 'citizens' talk? The only one you might have scared here is Tsui. I'm a New Yorker, I don't scare easy." The ten year old continued with all the confidence a child of that city was thought to have. To say the girl was strange would be a bit of an understatement but hey it happened. There was a girl in his class that was a bit on the odd side too. Molly seemed to think that she had super powers and could melt people's brains if they messed with them. Needless to say Leo left her alone, period. He had enough trouble in his life.

"Alright Detective Squirt, what's the big case? Emo guy steal your dolly? Or did the granny over there refuse to sell you cookies?" Leo asked his tone mocking but playful. Hell he was bored and since the girl was now apart of the conversation might as well enjoy it. Finishing off his meal he reached into his pocket for another brightly colored candy but brought several out when his hand reappeared. "Want one Tsui? If you give us your name Detective you can have one too. Just not the strawberry ones they are my favorite." He continued holding out the pile of sweets. "This here is Tsui and I'm Leo so now no arguments on name exchange. Deal?" Who knew maybe this girl had some ideas for something fun to do? He hoped so because hell whether he liked it or not he could use knowing some people around here. Leo never assumed friends on the first meeting but hey wishful thinking never hurt anyone right?

In the pride: Tsui and Detective Squirt
Lost the Jungle: Food court
I solemnly swear I'm up to no good: Should I tell her I swiped the candy from the gas station down the block?
Real men don't cry in public Pleased and curious
Working on my roar: Not as long as I wanted but I'll do better next time promise!

Bastet watched the scene unfold with detached interest, still eating her sushi. The manager had graciously doubled her order (and only charged her for one and a half, so she'd made out like a bandit without actually stealing, for once), and she was only about halfway through eating when the bit showdown with the weird emo guy and the girl occurred. She rolled her eyes. Typical. He looked weird, so he must be a criminal. Big shock. She pulled her fedora back down over her eyes, looking away, not wanting to draw attention. If the girl had thought that guy was a freak, she could only imagine her response to Bastet's ears. One thing was for certain, it wouldn't be good. And she didn't want anyone to know what she was. Not because she was ashamed, but because she was a thief, after all, and everyone tended to watch you more closely when they knew you were a mutant. Like that made you a crook, too. Well... it had made Bastet a crook, but not because her mutant nature had just made her one. No, her father had done that, the slimeball. She curled her lip at the thought of him, and she shook her head to wipe his face from her mind. He was long gone, in the past. She liked to imagine that he was dead, the victim of some horrible tragedy that had made him suffer horribly before he died. She looked back up at the group seated a few tables away, figuring that she was safe enough. It wasn't as though the kid would have any proof that she'd stolen and pawned other people's property for her meal, after all. She hadn't left evidence. She was careful. Besides... this was more interesting than watching the food go into her mouth.

Kadence took a half step back when the small blue haired boy inched closer. His speech was odd, quiet and sounded sickly. She wondered momentarily if it was something she could catch and had a difficult time stopping herself from covering her mouth. If it was something someone could catch, his parents wouldn't let him be out so there was nothing to worry about, she hoped. Calmly, Kadence put her hands on the table and opened her mouth to explain to the boy that she was always in danger because of her job but before she got the chance the older boy, also sporting blue hair though of a lighter variety, spoke up. Kadence immediately felt bad for forgetting her manners and lowered her gaze to her feet. "I'm sorry..." She said quietly. The mention of New York had the young detective puffing out her chest as quickly as a goblin stole socks.

With a thumb thrust toward herself, Kadence declared proudly,
"I'm from Chicago! Only moved here a little while ago. So, if you think about it..." She pondered before smiling. She shrugged her bag off and lowered it to the floor all the while slipping into the seat beside Leo."It kind of makes us like brother and sister. You're from a big city, I'm from a big city...see? Practically family!"

Kadence stared daggers at Leo for his comment about the scary man. She nudged him with her elbow but couldn't help but grin. The tone in his voice obviously said he was joking. Kadence looked at the candy in his hand. She only ever liked strawberry candies and picked one up, holding it between her finger and thumb.
"Please?" She tilted her head ever so slightly and smiled as cutely as she could. It worked on her father sometimes, so why not someone her age? Kadence hoped dearly that her father wouldn't discover her there. She wasn't sure what he would think of her new friends, maybe he would think that they were nice, especially since Leo was sharing his candy and Tsui had been worried about her. She looked at the smaller boy and gave him a large toothy smile. "My name is Kadence"

Cherry Blossoms? Where had he heard that name before?
It sounded familiar to him but he couldn't find the memory associated with the feeling.
When Leo allowed the boy to look at the picture of his mother and sister he took a moment to take in their faces. They looked so… happy. His mother looked like a kind and bold person. His sister had a face that said she could take on the world with such energy. Judging from how Leo spoke about them, he loved them both a great deal. His eyes softened at that thought.
Turning back his attention to Leo and ..Kadence as she had introduced herself as now, he noticed her initial reaction to his appearance and suddenly feeling a bit self-conscious, pulled the blanket closer to himself like that would suddenly fix it. Silly, he knew that.

He accepted Leo’s offer for candy with an enamored curiosity- “Thank you.” His voice sounded heavy with that meaning too. He couldn't even remember what candy was- it looked pretty. And he could eat this right? He selected a blue colored candy, and unwrapped it.
It’s surface shone in the light and he could see through it, it looked like… things he made. Stone. But this was food, it wouldn't stay this way- and so very slowly he put it to his nose sniffing. Blueberries?
Tilting his head back he was about to put it in when a voice from behind him made him freeze.

“Tsui?” There was Sophie with the drinks. He blinked wide eyed at the two children who had appeared to be sitting across from him. “S-Sohpie.” The woman seemed to catch her breath and sighed in relief, it didn’t look like Tsui was being bullied or anything. And closing the distance she put the two drinks down beside the smaller blue haired child before taking a seat herself. As it was the table now had Leo, and Kadence on one side, and Tsui and Sophie on the other.

“ I see you made some friends huh Tsui?” She said gently and handed the tea to him before glancing to the little girl and older boy. ‘blue hair? Again?’

“Umm, I’m Sophie, Tsui’s err.. Auntie. Pleased to meet you. “ Simple introduction, she couldn't be sure fi these kids were shy or not, or unruly and yet to reveal themselves as such. Plus- WHERE where their parents? She gave a glance about, but didn't see anyone looking towards them- oh- except that girl again with the ears- er.. well she had a hat on now. Maybe it was just a costume.
She checked her wrist watch again. They still had some time to get Tsui a hair cut if they left now, but at the moment, maybe letting the child interact with other children was a better thing to do while the opportunity stood.
But what to say? Did they not talk to strangers? If they were silent she’d understand. Sophie may have had some experience with taking care of children but she wasn't anything like a real parent.

“ Kadence is from Chicago, and Leo is from New York. They’re like family.” That last line seemed almost sarcastic- and Sophie glanced down to Tsui.
‘ IS HE trying to help me?’ How strange.
But then again Tsui…wasn't..normal. He didn't think like a little kid. She knew about this ‘other’ ability, but there was more to this kid then just being able to make things. He wasn't as young as he was on the inside as he was on the outside. Not in the head that is.
It was kind of..unnerving.

“ I see. I’m from LA.” She admitted.
