With a grand staircase in the middle, high ceilings and marble floors, the atrium makes an impression on most people. Kept clean and tidy it's generally the first thing new students or teachers see. It is also equipped to have blast shields drop to help protect the school.

The school was much larger than Lucas had anticipated, almost nauseatingly so. He was unable to detect the whole of the building, leaving him with only a section known to him. He could tell that the room immediately through the doors was very large with an unrealistically high ceiling and a large staircase. Nervousness gripped the blind boy's insides and for a moment he hoped no one would notice the damage he had done to the gate but that was foolish, he would need to own up to it eventually. Letting his powers recede into his center, he allowed his white cane to guide him. A few taps forward and it was caught on a stair. Lucas took care not to trip as he ascended the few stairs to the door. Reaching out, his fingers brushed wood. He could feel the grain through the staining and varnish that the door had been coated in but it was still smooth enough to glide his fingers over without receiving a splinter. He slid his hand to the left and a decorative door handle prodded his wrist. He slid his palm over it and found that it was slightly textured, no doubt to provide grip but he imagined that it would be brightly polished, probably brass or stainless steel. He turned the handle and the mechanism slid the metal prong from its resting place in the left hand door, giving way to allow the prospective student passage.
Lucas opened the door and expecting the hinges to squeak their protest, was surprised by the silence that the door moved in. He tapped his cane forward but knew by his preliminary telekinetic scan that there wouldn't be anything in his way for a fair distance. His shoes clicked softly against the floor, giving the illusion that Lucas was wearing a loud pair of old type leather shoes. His breath caught in his throat as the sudden feeling of comfort washed over him, it was almost palpable. "Hello?" Lucas called softly. His voice bounced gently around the room. He took a few more steps forward, his cane once again hit stairs and he stepped up a few, laying his hand on the railing. It was smooth, obviously wood. He ran his hand up as far as his arm could reach and back toward himself, getting a feel for the craftsmanship. "My name is Lucas, I was told I'd fit in here." He said, "This is the 'Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters' right? If not, I apologize for the intrusion."
Lucas stretched his power outward, hoping that he could find someone near him. As soon as his telekinetic radar shot out he stretched it as far as he could. The information that flooded his mind made him falter. Dropping his cane, he grabbed at the railing, holding it with both arms as he sat numbly on his knees. The area was larger than he could have ever imagined. As far as his senses were concerned, the institute had a never ending property line. Kitchen, gym, library, infirmary, halls, stairs, fields, pool, dorms and so much more, there even seemed to be a few students, a dozen perhaps. It was over whelming and for the first time, he couldn't seem to shut his telekinetic vision off. It continued to feed him information until he had most of the grounds mapped out. With a mighty internal shove, he plunged his mind back into darkness, choosing to be blind instead of continuing to be overwhelmed. Lucas gingerly adjusted himself so he was sitting on his bottom on the fifth stair. Someone would find him eventually. Stepping into the Atrium, Kayla saw the boy who had walked in just seconds beforehand. She had been retrieving some boxes and suitcases from the van as he walked inside. Seeing him with his cane and how he acted, she figured he was blinded, she had treated a blind patient before, back at the Hospital. "Yes, this is the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters." she answered him as he stood there. She sat down one of the suitcases she was laden down with. Storm was supposed to meet us here... she thought as she looked around for the silver haired woman. Shrugging Kayla turned back to door, "Aqua! Nathan! Hurry up and get in here, and you better be carrying something!" she called to her daughter and nephew. She looked back up into the building. Storm was late.
Stepping into the Atrium, carrying her two suitcases, Aqua sighed and rolled her eyes at her mother. "Why do you think it took so long to get in here Mom? We were trying to get some of the things." she said as she looked at the nurse. Looking around she saw the boy sitting on the steps. Who is that? she thought curiously as she looked at him. He was the only person in sight. The strawberry blonde decided to wave at him, not knowing he was unable to see. Seeing that he didn't wave back, she frowned and shrugged, brushing it off. She doubted he was being mean, he was probably shy or something. "So Mom, what is this place exactly?" she asked as she looked at her mother. She was wondering what it would be like, all she was told is that this was somewhere they would be safe, she hoped it will be true.
Nathan came in, carrying a pair box, one piled on top of the other, he heard his aunt call for them to hurry and responded with a sarcastic comment. "Oh? We were supposed to bring stuff with us? I thought this was a day trip and we would be back home tonight." he commented. Looking around as he set down the two boxes he saw a cute boy on the steps, one that his aunt directed her first comment to. Huh, kind of cute. he thought as he looked at the boy. Shrugging he turned and headed back out to the van, getting more of the families' possessions. Shortly later he returned with more things, and almost immediately he set them down and went for the last suitcase. The sound of the van's back closing filled the air. He walked in and deposited the final suitcase on the floor. His eyes began to look over the building, it was fancy, and huge from the looks of the outside.

Ororro was walking down the hall towards the Atrium when she heard the first voice echoing. It was a boy's voice, by the name of Lucas, as it stated. "We were expecting Kayla and her family..." she thought aloud. How did this boy get past the gates? She didn't know, but she accepted the fact. I should have Logan take a look around the grounds, see how he got in. sh thought as she walked. Then she heard another voice echoing, yes this one was expected. Kayla Cardon, the new school nurse, and her daughter, a girl who controlled water, and nephew, a boy who could create control fire. Or so she had been told. Stepping into the entrance of the atrium she smiled as she saw the four individuals. "Good to see you again Kayla. Hello Aqua. Hello Nathan. Hello Lucas." she said as she looked at the group. She began down the steps towards the group. Smiling at each individual, storm looked at each one, studying them. The boy on the steps had his back to her, she could only assume that was the unknown boy by the name of Lucas. She smiled at all of them as she stepped around the boy on the steps. "Well, welcome to Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters." she said with a smile. She brushed some of her silver hair out of her face before continuing. "As you know we are a school designed to train mutants. We will help you develop your powers and learn to control them." she said. She smiled at the group as she came to rest on the floor. "As for your things, just let them sit to the side until you get your room assignments." She smiled at the group. (( Sorry its so short, I'm tired and have writers block ))

The heavy thrum of the beat echoed across the garage keeping in beat with the pulsating thrum within the Canadian born man's heart as he sat with the engine of his bike spread across the floor before him. The rhythmic hum of the brush against metal join in a three part chorus with the other two beats in the room as well as though beyond the walls he could hear those heartbeats. He could tell where they were and at times even know what they were doing even though he had his complete focus on the delicate task at hand as he knew the bike needed a tune-up it was long over due for one just as he was long over due for a relaxing sleepless night. As he worked on cleaning and putting the engine back together he pondered on his life not something you'd expect from a man like Wolverine but when memory has never been in your favor you look back at it a lot. At times he had more memories of things that hurt than things that mattered deeply to him it was often because of this that he was awoken from his slumber at times with his claws extended in defense of some unknown force. Life had been rough for him from the start but that didn't mean he wanted any pity for everything he's done there was no room in life for the weak he found that out quite quickly. Or at least he thought he did with how much he has been through in his life he should have learned never to stay in one place but here he was sticking to one area with a group of people that, he could hardly not admit, were people he's grown close to.
Sighing the man began to put the pieces back together each being put back carefully and without much hesitation he knew this bike better than most things well besides his extensive knowledge of fighting styles and languages. Logan lost track of time often when he was working in the garage as by the time he had finished putting the engine back together and was putting it back into place his heightened sense of hearing picked up on a sound that made every muscle on his shoulders tense. The sound of metal creaking as if being pulled back by some force at a rapid rate there was not much metal on the grounds that would make such a noise besides the gate which meant someone was coming onto the grounds without clearance. Swearing rather loudly he tossed the red garage rag off to the side in a flash of annoyance the last time someone messed with the school there was a body count but from what his senses were telling him this was no grand assault but it still irked him. Crossing the garage rather easily he ripped open the door with more force than needed causing it to creak mournfully but it held as clearly he has ripped the thing off before when it got in his way. Swearing under his breath for no coherent reason he started to head for the door that lead out onto the grounds so he could figure out who exactly was the cause of that god awful noise as he knew people were coming the other X-men usually made it a point to tell him if someone was coming so that no blood was shed.
He didn't make it to the side door before he caught movement through one of the many windows though he seemed not to really notice the fact that it was morning now maybe the expected party was here. Then again not many people who are invited anywhere crash through gates but hey it could be a new norm in the social circuit and he still wouldn't care call him old fashion but knocking on a door was more proper than knocking down a door not that he was a shining example of that. Blue eyes narrowed as he watched the first figure wander into the front room in which he himself happened to be in as well just shifted into the corner to watch in a predator fashion as he did not always jump first and think second. Watching the light-haired young man he could quite easily tell that he was blind it wasn't even the white cane that gave it away it was the way he moved with a cautious but forward movement that made Logan wonder why he was in such a place as this unless he seemingly good knowledge of his surroundings was anything to help his hunch. Logan just watched he was never really a people person and everyone knew it he was only friendly towards people if he had to be whether he liked them or not he never broadcasted his feelings when he was under pressure to be civil. Even when the boy spoke he said nothing instead it was answered by the woman who followed in after the boy within a few moments though it wasn't long till more joined the first two.
Blue eyes shot to the first boy known as Lucas as the boy dropped his cane and grabbed for the railing it seemed that the kid's ability whatever it was took a toll on him as the quickened heart rate was a keen sign of a panic attack or the like. Glancing toward the interior of the school he listened to the familiar sound of Storm's footsteps it seemed that she was coming to welcome those who had arrived invited and not either way Logan didn't mind now that he knew somewhat what was going on the tension eased in his shoulders. Once she was in the room and addressing everyone he shifted lightly moving out of the corner of the room he made his way towards the rest of the group looking at Storm with a light amused shimmer in his eyes as he spoke " Didn't know we were entertaining two parties today. I was only made aware of one was there another last minute one?" His voice was level but held an amused tone that tickled the Canadian accent that hinted at the edges of his words but that was something he never took notice to as he studied each of the newcomers as he walked closer to them but left a good five feet distance between himself and the group giving them enough room to move as well as feel comfortable. It is not often a six foot tall man in a white-ish wife beater and jeans appears out of nowhere and starts talking to you then again if one paid any mind they would have noticed him in the room in the first place. Feeling's Mutual: Lucas, Storm, Kayla, Aqua, Nathan I'm Canadian: Garage, then Atrium It Tickled: Well this seems to be one of those days You wanted the Animal: Annoyed but amused How 'bout impaling: Thought I should bring him in hope you guys don't mind ^^

Lucas sat in silence and darkness for what felt like an hour. Every fiber of his body wanted him to use his power to get a grasp of what was happening around him but he knew well enough if he did that then his ability could very well run away with him again. The last thing Lucas wanted was another scary experience like that, until he had a better mental map of the area, he'd allow others to guide him around. The blind mutant raised his head and directed his face toward the sound of a woman. He started to thank the woman for confirming his location but her voice picked up again, calling out to others. A girl spoke next, Lucas assumed it was Aqua and the boy to follow, Nathan. Lucas frowned at the boy's comment, dismissed his agitation and groped for his cane.
There was another strange voice. This one was acquainted with the first woman. Finding his cane about a foot from the bottom stair, he took it in hand and turned on his heel to face the others in the room. He may be blind, but he knew that manners were important and it was best to face those that you spoke to or that were speaking to you. For a moment, he was confused as to how the lady knew his name, as far as he could tell, he had never met her before but then it clicked, he had announced his name to the whole building only a moment ago. His free hand went up to his backpack strap, tightening his grip on it at the mention of leaving it somewhere."I'll keep my bag." He said sternly.
There was a new, addition to the group in the atrium, a large man by the sound of his voice. Lucas appreciated the man keeping his distance."I'm sorry if I've caused confusion. I followed a rumor most of the way here." He said softly. He took a step forward, effectively joining the group, "Also, the gate needs repair...or replacement." At least Lucas had found what he had been looking for, somewhere he would be safe, at least for as long as he chose to stay. He had thought he was safe before but that had all changed, forced him to find somewhere new to call home."I'm sorry but I haven't eaten in awhile, if there any chance I could get something to eat?" Kayla smiled at her daughter and nephew as the woman they waited for appeared at the top of the stairs. "It's good to see you to Storm." she said as he looked at the woman who was approaching them down the steps. She nodded at the instructions from her and set down the single suitcase she had brought in. Just then a voice spoke up from the shadows, causing the woman to jump in surprise. When did he get here? she thought as she looked at Logan. He was always so stealthy and quiet, it was annoying. Plus he made her feel useless sometimes. As it was her natural want to heal a person and here he was, able to heal himself in a matter of seconds. Aqua looked up as a voice spoke from above, a dark skinned woman with pure white hair. Yet she looked no older then her 30's. Was the odd hair color an affect of her mutation? The girl did not know, and she would not ask. There was no way she could be that rude. "I am a bit hungry too." she agreed after the blonde boy, Lucas was it? Spoke. I wonder if the food is good here. she thought as she looked around. Nathan turned at the sound of another male voice. This man was older with weird hair. And he had a don't-mess-with-me attitude. Nathan made note to never piss the guy off. He shifted the luggage off to the side of the room and looked at storm. "So, Do we each get our own room?" he asked curiously. If i need a roommate he better be hot. he thought as he waited for an answer.
