Hi there! Welcome to our FAQ section. Hopefully this means you would like to make a character here! HOORAY! The most common questions and their answers are found below so read through this to see if you find the answer. If you don't just PM the shop mule and ask away or ask others in the guild to point you in the right direction of an answer!

Q: Wow! A Buffy Shop! Can I be Buffy?
A: Unfortunately as of right now canon is strictly NPC and will be played by staff. This includes any character found on the Buffy or Angel television shows as well as any other Buffy medium. If you would like to/need to interact with canon in a plot please PM staff to discuss/arrange this. Please do not play canon even in solos short of perhaps mentioning a name or that this character is in passive attendance.

Q: Can I play characters from other Whedonverse shows?
A: Ok, let's shorten this answer to simply no canon of any kind. No direct anime, television, movie, or book characters. We'd like them to be your own creation.

Q: Can I play Buffy's sister, Giles' son, etc etc?
A: This will be forbidden nine times out of ten. Legacy characters -may- be granted by meta events as prizes. Their connections to canon will be staff choice, no negotiations and will ALWAYS reflect canon personalities/choices (meaning Giles will not have children, Buffy will only have 1 sister Dawn, etc)

Q: What about cosplay?
A: While it might be fine to have elements of another canon character's style it heavily depends on the path you choose to pursue and the general look of that faction. Basic art can be very individualized but will grow as you do to suit the style of the road you take.

Q: Can my character have powers?
A: Only the ones limited by the star rating you have in your chosen path(s). Everything is limited in its own way. We take power playing very seriously and those that consciously abuse this system will be warned/disciplined.

Q: But the Buffy characters had powers!
A: And you absolutely can, too, provided you work toward that goal in the proper path

Q: So how does this whole star rating system work?

Q: So what makes this star system so great?
A: The star system allows for nearly unlimited customization! Your character can pursue any path they would like. They can be amazing at one thing. Ok at 2- 3 things or know a smattering of it all! It's simply up to you!

Q: I just want pretty art of my character
A: Hey! We want you to have pretty art of your character, too, but please follow the procedures for new characters in the Applications subforum. The How To Guide can be found HERE

Q: Can I be a vampire/werewolf/demon?
A: This is possible! However, at the moment weres are bribe only and must have an approved profile when bribing events begin. Demons can be granted to players in Meta/Plot events or disposable vampires/demons can be granted if you fill out the form for one HERE and have all appropriate plot info for -why- this is necessary. Vampires are a racial class open to all and their information/application requirements can be found HERE

Eventually we may open demons to bribes and make official rules for the class but that is not in the works at the moment.

Q: What about hybrids? (half demon, etc)
A: There are no plans at the moment to allow hybrids but this may become an official bribe class later on as well.
