Welcome to our room, my fellow friends!
I made this thread for all of my announcements I'll be making throughout the years. I'll also be making announcements in the other threads, if I need to. I made this thread so that you can find the announcements I make if you need to find them again. You can't respond in this thread, but you are free to respond to anything in these announcements in the other threads.
First off, I have yet to hear from Cupcakes or Delusion (clever nicknames) as a final yes to being in our room. I would like to get a final okay, if that's nice! It sets me at ease.
I'm setting up a rough tektek thread, a chatterbox thread, a plot brainstorming thread, a character brainstorming thread, and more later on. But in the meantime…
I made a mistake, and I thought that Spotted's character thing was for the entire ball. It is only for her room. The real character pickings will come as soon as the cohosts are picked in all the rooms!
(also, artisticDelusion, if you are picked as a cohost in another room and go there, just lemme know so I can stop bugging you. ^_^)
Okay, my lovely friends. It's time to get down to business. We have until August to come up with a bunch of fantastic characters, fun events, and a big fantastic plot.
Here's the main plot, so you guys know (written by the lovely Chibi):
With the very nature of the ball, I believe it important to understand the set-up before going about choosing characters. Therefore, please look through the plot if you can spare a moment. The characters in this little intro will change depending on who is cast as whom. I simply put some placeholder ones in here for convenience. heart
The city had long been abandoned, and the emptiness left a strange calm about the place. If someone had remembered to think about it, that person might have remarked on the mass exodus to the new, great cities of Gaia in 2003. But, no one did stop to think about it; so there it sat, empty, forgotten, magic whirling around under the soil, waiting for life to return to it once more. And, just a couple days ago — it did. It was early in the morning when the first of the magical bookworms wriggled its tiny body out of ground, and found its way into the old, majestic library. Others soon followed, and together they found nourishment in forgotten works of literature that had endured throughout the ages. Then, something amazing happened. A flash of light appeared in front of an old, leather volume that a bookworm had previously been feasting upon, and a figure began to form. As the light faded, (Robayn’s character) stood standing on dusty, marble floor. Before she could get her bearings, she was soon joined by many other characters from other great novels. “What is this new place?” she said more to herself than the others. As she looked around coffered ceilings and the seemingly endless rows of books, it occurred to her that she was in a library. Puzzled by what happened, she and the others began searching through the novels closest to them. “Why, this book is about me!” Elizabeth Bennett said in alarm, lifting up a worm-eaten copy of Pride and Prejudice. “Really? I’m to marry Mr. Darcy? Well, this certainly cannot be! I’ve no intention submitting to such a ridiculous fate. “I don’t much care what this place is, but it sure beats whitewashin’ Aunt Polly’s old fence,” Tom Sawyer said with a smirk. “Let’s stick around for a bit!” After perusing their own books, and discovering that they had a chance to alter their destinies, the characters decided to remain in the abandoned city, and thus became its new inhabits. Curiously, at that same time, everyone around Gaia started having strange dreams that told them to visit the old city. And, heeding the advice in their dreams, many Gaians began to venture forth to the place where they would come face to face with stories they had long thought were just make-believe.
As the characters emerge from their books, they will either be dissatisfied with the course of events in their own stories or they will just want an adventure. In any case, they find locations in the city, and hang out together. Our rooms will be based on location rather than theme so we can have greater mixing and mingling. I mean, where would the fun be if we only had one room with villains? Anyway, each room is going to have their respective plots, but we will have a few events that will bump into everyone's rooms. We'll figure what those events are later. But, what I can tell you is at on the final day, Merlin will emerge from the books, and set everything right, returning the characters to the books. This will provide a clean break from everyone, and excuse by which to end the festivities. And, since all of these rooms exist in the same universe, you shouldn't need any special mechanics or devices to arrange crossovers. heart
So basically, the characters we are playing are either very unhappy with how their story ends up, or they want to have a big old adventure in the world of Gaia! Because Merlin comes and puts everyone back in their books, we have the freedom to make our own plot in the treehouse how we see fit. That means we can have crossovers, do events with prizes, and get into all sorts of crazy shenanigans.
Okay, so here's where you come in! I've already quoted you in the character brainstorming thread. That's the most important right now. We need to find out how our characters act, and how they interact with each other and the guests. Remember, these are based on the original books, so try not to base them too heavily on any popular mainstream movie (if you want to base their personality on something you've seen, that would probably be acceptable, but you know, no disney movies and such).
We also have The treehouse plot! We can talk about different events and fun craziness that will ensue in our loverly treehouse.
Okay? Great! Pretty soon I'll be bothering you for some meeting times here. I'm thinking perhaps 9pm EST or later on the 18th, so everyone knows ahead of time. We can talk characters and plot in depth and bounce ideas off each other! Let's get this ball rolling with some pizazz!

Okie dokie everyone! Here's an updated announcement on everything that's going on. It's time to really get the ball moving, because it's only a few months away!
1st Order of Business: Reminder: We are having a meeting on Friday, March 8th, at 9:00 EST. If the time is a problem, let me know. I know it's earlier for those on the West Coast (and a Saturday morning for Calea). I want as many people as possible to make this meeting! We need to think about a room plot and finish up characters. I'll be setting up a final draft character form thread after the meeting. Basically, we need to think of events that can happen over the coarse of a three day ball. That takes work! Here is the link to our own personal Chatango. Save it in your bookmarks 'r something! I'll give that link again in my reminders. I'll probably post another reminder day of, and an hour before, and the time it begins. I'm posting that many reminders. Because I REALLY want you all to show. I want to see your beautiful faces.
1.5st Order of Business: Artistic, my memory is busted. You were going to be a cohost with us, right? I need your final decision on your character, and start working on tekteking.
2nd Order of Business: Shower Calea with praises. She's our room artist! She makes beautiful art, and she's kind enough to do it for free. That's a huge deal. So hug her. A lot.
3rd Order of Business: Remember when I talked about that final draft character form thread? That's the third order of business. Keep those tekteks in mind and edit them as you please. Once I post them, I want them all completely done by, let's say, April 5th? That gives Calea time to get all those drawings done. That takes time! Don't worry, the form shouldn't take too long if you know your character well enough. And remember, you don't have to base your character off of any previous movie/adaptation/whatever. It's just how you see your character. It can even deviate away from the book… but not too far. Just be smart. You're all very smart.

Hello everyone! I really want to have those final character forms in by April 1st, and the only people who have started working on theirs have been me and Calea! Please get started when you can, so Calea can work on your character art. In the least, get your tekteks finalized. On April 1st, I'm going to be PMing those of you who aren't done, and we'll figure out where to go from there. Thanks guys!

Hey guys. So, we've had a crazy couple of weeks. We've had to drop a few people due to inactivity. Moo just PMed me that he's back, but for now, we're going ahead with the plans I've talked about with Robayn.
First off, Rogue is the new secondary. Hooray, Rogue!
Second, we're having the cohosts from Violet's room come over and we're meshing the two rooms together. It will still be the treehouse, but with new cohosts! Violet can't host this year. So eran no shi will be our be our second secondary! Hooray, Eran!
It's going to be a little crazy, but I'm sure I can count on you guys. Only a few months to go, so it's crunch time!
My apologies for my inactivity for the past few weeks. I'll be here on Gaia if you want to contact me, even if just to say hello.
Other notes:
~ Calea-- How's the art coming along? I don't want to rush you, but I don't want you to have a ton of work to do later.
~ PLEASE everyone make sure your character forms are completely finished! The sooner the better. The Now-er the better. biggrin
Really sorry for the delay, Pinkie! The Hatter's almost done, after that I'll get to work on Cindy and the others. I think I should be given a certain deadline though, so I'll be able to finish my work faster. You decide when. o u o So far our characters are Hatter, Cindy, and Meg right?
