Personality: Before fusing with the Eye of Ishon, Will was arrogant and unfriendly, due to his own inflated sense of self-worth. Upon fusing with the Eye of Ishon, Will learned the story of the power inside the artifact, and after thinking it over for a while decided to take up the cause of justice if he could. However, he's still somewhat wary of working with Numans; old prejudices die hard, it seems. He also has an odd relationship with Ishon, whose consciousness is in Will's mind, as the two routinely exasperate each other over the differences in their races.
Bio: William Beck was born in San Diego, California in 2005. His father served during World War III as an officer and is currently a General in the US Marine Corps. Will joined the Marines at 18 and was honorably discharged four years later, but even time in the Marines couldn't change the rotten attitude he had grown up with.
Will, like many Normals, harbored a grudge against Numans; they, honestly, scared the Hell out of Will due to their mind-boggling powers and the havoc they could cause when left unchecked. He didn't re-enlist in the Marines however, and moved to Los Angeles to work at a gun shop.
When he was twenty-six, he stumbled across a strange, eye-shaped artifact that seemed to call to him in his mind; this was the "Eye of Ishon". He touched the Eye and it infused itself with him, altering his DNA to accommodate for it's own power so that he could use it, and in the process technically making Will a Numan. Shocked at first, Will was even more freaked out when a voice in his head-- the voice of Ishon-- explained itself to him.
Eons ago, Ishon was an extremely powerful being-- A Kosthian, an extraterrestrial and in some ways was similar to the Numans of Earth due to the power he wielded. He protected his homeworld from threats, but eventually grew complacent and arrogant as his own power went to his head. This arrogance caused Ishon's homeworld to be destroyed in an invasion Ishon was unable to stop, and as punishment the survivors of his planet used Ishon's own energy against him, sealing him within the Eye and flinging him off into space. Many centuries later, the Eye of Ishon landed on Earth and remained undisturbed, with the consciousness of Ishon lamenting his own foolishness and vowing to make up for it somehow. This chance at his own redemption came when he detected Will's presence, and how arrogant the human was. Ishon saw his chance to atone for his past actions and help Will see the error of his ways, so once Will touched the Eye, Ishon used the contact to fuse with Will and integrate his powers with Will's body.
With that, Ishon's voice faded from Will's mind, and Will went home, trying to forget the experience. He couldn't, however, as Ishon's words haunted him each time he looked on the news about the unrest on Earth; would he sit on his thumbs and let his home planet go to Hell?
At this, Ishon's consciousness spoke again, as it was still within Will's mind, and offered to train him as he had nothing to lose by learning how to use such powers. Will agreed, and by age twenty-seven, he had taken up the alias "Photon" due to his ability to make hard light constructs through his own force of will, and has gained an understanding of most of his limits; Ishon doesn't help often, as he wants Will to learn more about his powers on his own initiative.
Class: Originally a Class VI, after fusing with Ishon (who was himself a Class I as a physical entity) Will became a II+; Will's known abilities are:
Universal Energy Conduit- The Eye of Ishon was an artifact designed to
hold Ishon, a being who could tap into the latent energy of the universe, and once it fused with Will he was able to tap into this energy and use it in various ways. The only known limit to how much energy he can use is tied to his own endurance; the more powerful his uses, the more fatigued he becomes.
Superhuman Strength- After Ishon bonded with Will and the latter had his DNA rewritten to make him part-Kosthian, Will's body has been gradually adapting to this change and when it's finished, Will will be able to lift between 25 and 100 tons on his own. With his constructs, depending on their strength and his stamina, he is capable of easily lifting well over 100 tons.
Superhuman Durability and Stamina- As another side effect to the fusion between Will and Ishon, and to compensate for his increasing physical strength, Will's body is slowly becoming superhumanly durable. Once it is complete Will will be able to take heavy ordinance from Normals and the equivalent from Numans (such as a full-power punch from Ultima) without suffering injury to himself, and his constructs will be able to last for far longer and be much more powerful.
Flight- The first ability Will discovered upon fusing with the Eye of Ishon, Will is able to project a forcefield that outlines Will himself, and that manipulates anti-gravitons and directed molecular movements to produce independent flight for him. Though he does not know it yet, the force field not only protects him from harm by absorbing energy and radiation, but will allow him to survive in inhospitable environments such as the vacuum of space and the depths of Earth's oceans. With this forcefield he can fly as fast as Mach 10 in-atmosphere and can reach faster-than-light speeds in outer space, though he has yet to attempt the latter. If creating a forcefield around someone and towing them, he's restricted to Mach 3.
Energy Blasts- Tapping into the powers of Ishon allows Will to fire concussive blasts of energy at opponents from his hands.
Energy Constructs- The powers of Ishon grant Will the ability to make energy constructs based upon his ability to will them into existence and stay focused when using them. These constructs can take any form Will can imagine so long as he has the focus and stamina needed to keep them around, and can be any color set among the electromagnetic spectrum, but he generally uses white light for simplicity.
Limited Cellular Regeneration- Before discovering how to make protective forcefields, Will has been injured in various ways. By tapping into Ishon's power, Will is able to heal himself to a limited degree, though this can also fatigue him if he works too hard to heal himself.
Material Alteration- Will's costume is not made out of fabric; it is actually made of energy from the power of Ishon, and he can change it to his liking. The costume forms over his clothes when he wills it to, and does not fatigue him in order to stay up. He is capable of actually making similar constructs around himself that look like actual clothes, but has not thought to do this yet.
Powers Will is capable of using, but DOES NOT know about yet, are:
Phasing- With Ishon's power, Will can make himself temporarily intangible and able to pass through solid objects. This only lasts for a short time, however, either due to Will's ability to focus or the strain it has on his body.
Invisibility & Light Refraction- Using Ishon's power, Will is capable of bending light waves in order to make himself seem invisible, and possibly alter colors of objects temporarily.
Relevant Skills: Will is a skilled marksman due to being a former Marine, though as Photon he doesn't use guns.
Appearance Description/Picture: ((Picture)) Will is tall at 6'4", with black hair and brown eyes. His time in the Marines and his regular workouts give him a muscular figure.
