The year is 2032. The mutations began appearing in the late 90's, peaking in '96, and within eight years had developed fully into the Numan 'subspecies' (as subsequent patterns of mutation were happening simultaneously- the physical mutations simply became apparent first). The Third World War began in 2010, ending in 2019- during this time, great advancements were made in both weaponry and defense tactics on both parts, and the Numans continued to evolve. The Numan Schism happened in 2030- vast quantities of Numans created a settlement atop a giant floating man-made island in the middle of the Pacific, now called Numan City. Now, two years later, a mysterious signal from deep space has been received: "The Scourge is coming. We are Legion. And you are next." With an unknown amount of time before the oncoming threat reaches Earth, the recently started Normal-Numan 'wars' (pockets of contained conflict, really) are becoming more and more frequent and dangerous. Big cities threaten to break out into riots, and the United Nations (now the prominent governing force of the Earth after WWIII) have been issuing martial law in several places deemed 'unsafe.'
