These are the different branches of the government as well as their purpose. Some of the branches listed here have too many details to be listed, and have their own thread.

Council of Sorotami: The council is the highest branch of the government, sitting at the very top of the hierarchy. They oversee the other branches of the government, so that they don't step on each others' toes. They also convene to deal with major magic disasters or possible magic terrorism acts.
-Members: The council is composed of 15 members, each serving a 9-year term. Every three years, five members are exchanged. This way, the view of the council isn't shifted dramatically, as only 1/3 of the council changes at once. It is possible for a council member to be reelected back into another term, however, the council may choose to refuse his entry with a 2/3 majority against them returning. However, most council members are not reelected, and when the do, their is very good reasoning behind it.
-Powers: The council is rather broad in their powers, however, they can only utilize them once at least 11 of the 15 council members have agreed to the course of action. Most of the time they merely need to approve or disapprove some of the more radical actions of the other branches. They also watch over the media given, occasionally withholding information that could cause a panic.

Special Magic Defense Corps: The SMDC holds the most power next to the council. They must if they have to do their job properly.
-Purpose: The purpose of the SMDC is to watch over the mages registered with the government, and keep on the lookout for illegal non-registered mages. Upon finding illegal mages, or when registered mages act against the law, it is the duty of the SMDC to subdue them and take them in.
-Powers: The SMDC is nearly limitless in their power, so long as it pertains to mages. They have access to just about every camera or security device in the world, meaning they can spy on people from anywhere. They may enter a mages house without warning if suspected of unlawful activity. If a civilian is suspected of being an unregistered mage, the SMDC can access any and all information pertaining to that individual. The SMDC also has a large task force of specially trained operatives. Most are trained to follow registered mages and have training at restraining them. However there is also a highly specialized force that is trained for the sole purpose of killing mages.
-More information on the SMDC can be found in their database.

LOCDF, Local defense force: The LOCDF is the local police force of each area. They are several sects of LOCDF, each one looking over their sector. While the SMDC has the most advanced defense force, they are solely for magical offenders. It falls to the LOCDF to take care of day-to-day criminal activities.
-Purpose: Where SMDC protects the world from magical threats, the LOCDF watches over their district to deal with any other illegal activities. Each watches over their own district, with major crimes between districts fostering temporary cohesion between two districts.
-Powers: The LOCDF holds very little political power in the government, only able to request basic information on suspects and personal info. LOCDF personnel often patrol city areas, keeping an eye out for any trouble that may occur. Fortunately, the LOCDF usually doesn't have to exercise their powers much, with their officers generally only seeing occasional action from petty thieves and such.

NAB, Natural Agriculture Breeders: One of the most important branches of the government, they are in charge of natural preservation. Consequently, they also distribute food and natural products to ALL districts.
-Purpose: The NAB preserves natural flora and fauna, seeing to it that each biosphere is balanced and non-polluted. As such, they are also in charge of the agriculture spheres, where heavily-consumed food products are grown.
-Powers: While the NAb holds very little political power on paper, they are truly one of the most influential branches of the government. This is due to two major reasons.
One: As they are in charge of food distribution and maintenance for every city, as well as biosphere conservation, they are one of the biggest branches in physical size.
Two: If the NAB truly has to flex its muscles at another branch, they only have to talk with a few key members regarding food distribution. This threat isn't even necessary usually, as other branches recognize the unspoken power the NAB holds.

Power Supply Branch: The branch that has declined over the century. They watch over the power systems of each district. However, since the invention of the clean energy system, they have next to nothing to do.
-Purpose: The PSB looks over the power supply of each district, making sure that every city has adequate and equal energy. The need for this has diminished significantly since the world stopped using fossil fuels however.
-Powers: The PSB used to have significant power, being in charge of fossil fuels and their distribution. However, roughly 98 years ago a new source of power was created, the CES. (clean energy system) The system created plenty of energy for a normal-sized city, and had no waste to speak of. Now, the most the PSB does is distribute personnel who look over these machines, but outside of the power plant jobs, they have very little power now.

LASW: The "Law Study Watchmen" are in charge of keeping all the laws known and categorized. They are a mid-sized branch of the government, but very important.
-Purpose: The LASW is in charge of all the laws of society. The branch is split into several different sects, each in charge of different types of laws. The members are responsible for providing specific details on laws to those that require them. The LASW also is in charge of the courts, keeping a neutral view on all cases, giving judgement only on the basis of law.
-Power: As the proprietors of law, the LASW holds significant power within the government. They are also the final wall to face when trying to pass a new law, meaning they effectively control whether new laws are put into action or not.
