It is currently the year 2183. After the discovery of magic, and an event only referred to as "Oblivion" that occurred in 2041, the government made an organization known as the SMDC (Special Magic Defense Corps.) to keep a tight watch and control over any known magic users. There are several other branches of the government, but it is widely known that the SMDC holds the greatest influence and power. After all, they perform the grand duty of protecting society from mages, and there have been no other worldly conflicts since "Oblivion" 142 years ago.

If you were born without magic, then your'e in luck! The world is a much better place to be in now than it was a few centuries ago. Pollution is almost non-existant, and clean power is supplied to every home. The streets of the cities now serve for the public to walk on, while vehicular transportation lies in the form of hovercrafts miles above the ground. Fear not, as nature has not been forsaken, though it has been relegated to specific wildlife preserves. If you wish to go out and see the natural world as it used to be, you'd better plan a vacation. As long as your background checks out fine, it should be relatively simple.
-------------------------------
If you are registered as a mage, things are less lucky. That odd feeling someone's always watching you? Those are the SMDC's special units, waiting for you to use your powers against one of the ordinary citizens. If you are stupid enough to do so, say goodbye to your freedom as they capture you and take you to one of the facilities designed to hold your kind. They are waiting for you to make that mistake. Want to leave the city? Sorry, too dangerous. You'll have to make do with the entertainment provided in the city you were born in.
Our blessing, Our curse
Is magic a blessing . . . or is it a curse . . . you decide.
