At the corner of town square and beside the fountain, the Sonata City Police Department sits proudly. It's pretty small compared to what people from any major city would be used to, with only one cell and a few officers to keep the town in order. The first thing one would see upon entering the department is one large room with a pair of metal desks for the pair of officers to use for paperwork and things of that like. Just behind that, in clear view of anyone inside the station, is the sole cell, large enough to fit maybe three people comfortably before becoming too cramped. Of course, why would they need anything more with a population as small as this? Any major criminals would only be stuck in there for a week or so before being shipped off to a more secure prison. To the left from there is an office for the sheriff to use while s/he is working from the station instead of the government offices. Beyond that door is another room, sometimes used as an interrogation room, other times for just the coffee maker kept in there for any hardworking officer's convenience.

The walk to the station had been disturbingly quiet for the woman, each step without even a glance had her on edge – and not in the usual way, either. If she was frightened for her life, she had a gun on both hips to sooth her, but those didn't work whenever she slid her fingers over the holster. Even when she took one out at some point and held it tightly in her grip, it held little comfort. Romane was left to realize that it wasn't fear tensing her shoulders and weighing her eyes so they constantly found themselves lowering to the ground, but shame. She knew she had to handcuff the man and she had to bring him in – especially after a confession like that – but.. She couldn't help herself from wondering what would have been so wrong in letting him go. Just before a sterner part of her hushed such thoughts and steeled her at the station's door. Rebellion never proved to be fruitful, after all. Vladimir would live after this, even if it was hell.

She opened the door and stepped inside, carefully leading the silent male to come in after her. She didn't look at him, keeping her gaze firmly forward, but she did speak in his direction, “Take a seat, Mr. Tepes.” She motioned to her desk where a chair could be found on either side. One for herself, the other for anyone she had to speak to at length. She wasn't sure if he would listen or not, but she knew where he lived and the sailor that controlled the boats was only a phone call away if he tried to run. There wasn't harm in leaving him alone. She moved inside and walked right past the desks and to the sheriff's office, hoping that Rachel was in that day.

Vlad was very compliant, when told to take a seat he did, not saying a word still. And that look was still in his eyes. His hand hanging just enough so that his hair blocked his vision on either side of his head. He didnt move once he had sat. He had acted the same way when he was a child. Rather.. taught to act that way by the Priest. As long as he did as he was told and didnt say a word, he could avoid the harsher torture the man had put him and the girls through. So thats what Romane was at the moment, at least until the cuffs came off and he was snapped from his daze, Romane was the Priest and he was back being a helpless child. Normally Romane wouldnt have gotten such a reaction from him. But with the trauma two years ago, his seeing of Ms. Vanni yesterday and his panic attack then, it was only inevitable.

-Rachel Fate & Sophia Fate-

Another day of paperwork was beginning to drive Rachel insane. She would never understand how people wanted so desperately to be inside an office. Boring? But of course. Now that she was sheriff, it sucked to be inside filing paperwork and all that stuff someone else should be doing. Then again, it was safer, and with Julian around Rachel shouldn't be taking any chances... yeah it was a sweet thought but it didn't make this any less boring. She found herself gazing at Sophia, who was laying next to her desk, probably as bored as her owner. That was her form of entertainment and it was still when she needed it... Hm? Some clue of movement could be heard in the lonely department. Soon enough Romane made an appearance in her office. "Romane. What have you been up to today?" asked the woman, happily shifting her attention to the officer in front of her.

Ah, it seemed like today wouldn't be a complete loss. Rachel was in her office like she should have been – though, it made Romane wonder briefly where Julian could be. Hopefully not with the father.. She doubted how much of an impression the infant could really get from the man, but she still didn't enjoy the idea of him tending to Julian. She pushed aside those thoughts, though, and focused on the situation at hand. Vladimir was in handcuffs, he didn't appear well, but he had already confessed to a crime. She didn't have much choice but to tell her superior about it before taking any further action. She didn't want to see the woman angered, after all – especially when she had to deal with a hormonal Rachel before the baby was born. That experience had taught her enough on why she shouldn't test Rachel's patience. She stepped inside up to the desk, folding her hands behind her back and staring evenly at the woman. Her posture just as straight as ever, she spoke in the respectful nature that came natural to her. “Sheriff Fate, I am certain you are aware of Mr. Vladimir Tepes.” Who didn't know the twins? They ran the most frequented store on the island and had been here for years! Not to mention the fire to their store brought enough attention to them. “Mr. Tepes has given myself a confession of a past crime. I have arrested and brought him in for questioning, however, I will wait for your orders before carrying on.

"I am" replied the blond at the mention of his name. If it wasn't for the past occurrences that had her meeting the male, including outings, or for the constant mention of the name from Romane, well she'd still know the name. Now that wasn't what Rachel was expecting. "A past crime? How long ago? Was it on the island?" asked Rachel. If that was the case, they could take action but... "Hm. Go ahead with the questioning." With that she stood up and glanced at the officer. "I'll go with you." She would only watch of course, Romane seemed to have much more clarity on the situation than her... However the two women were at a loss at how to handle this exactly.

Vlad did move eventually, as the Officers came near him. He pull one of his legs up onto the chair with him and rested his forehead on his knee. His wrists were red from him trying to slowly work the cuffs off of him. But it wasnt working.. they were metal, he was flesh and bone and on too snuggly for him to even think of slipping them off. He had also started muttering to himself, just gentle really incoherent sayings, it was either scripture he had been read, or things he had been told in the past. It just made it all the more creepier to approach him.

Romane frowned at the woman, stopping herself from averting her eyes in mild shame that she couldn't answer the questions asked. She hadn't exactly asked very much – not in public like Vladimir and her had been. It would have been best to save any and all questions for after they were somewhere with less risk than a simple coffee shop.. She was sure Rachel knew that, but, it still bothered her that she couldn't aid her superior in her decision much at all. Thankfully, she wasn't forced to tell Rachel that she didn't know just yet as the blond had already stood up. “Affirmative.” She answered easily as the sheriff placed herself into the situation, although.. she would have preferred doing it solo. Ah, well, Rachel was her boss. She wasn't going to go against her. She turned and headed out ahead with her, pausing again at the door as she saw Vladimir. Muttering..? She pursed her lips, but forced herself to move over to the male ahead of Rachel. She set a hand on him, guiding him to stand up carefully with a short look at the woman. She wasn't sure if she preferred him silent or oddly whispering mantras like he was.. She shooed that thought away in favor of leading him off to the 'interrogation' room for it's first real use in a long time.

Vlad stopped his mantra when he was touched. He inhaled sharply in shock, his eyes going to Romane like an animal caught in a trap. Where was she taking him? What was she going to do to him? No.. she couldnt hurt him.. could she? Please.. dont.. he didnt know what he would do, or how much of his remaining sanity would stay intact if a blue eyed redhead hurt him like the men had.

Vlad was still silent, though frieghtened as hell and uncertain as could be, as the trio entered the interrogation room. Once he was sat he just stayed silent, his eyes watching Romane and Rachel.. studying them for any signs of ill or good towards him.

Watching Vladimir, this was strange. To find him like this. Even after the kidnappings, he wasn't that way... Something was off, but she wouldn't take part in this directly unless necessary. It was more supervision and presence than anything. Once inside the room with Romane and Vladimir, she closed the door to the room and leaned at the wall next to it. What was all this about now? "It's all yours Romane."

Did he have to look at her like that? Romane frowned and sent a questioning look to Rachel like she so often did when she did a wrong step in their weekend meet ups. She didn't know what Rachel could possibly come up with that Romane couldn't, but it was more for some sort of approval than anything. The blond was her superior; what else could she expect of her? She didn't wait long for a sign, though, as they had already made it into the interrogation room. Rachel gave her the go ahead and, so, the redhead allowed Vladimir to take a seat at the table – but not before going around to his back and unlocking his handcuffs. It didn't help her nerves very well to allow him such mobility, but.. it was much worse to be sent such frightened looks. Romane wasn't sure what to do with the instant feeling of guilt she was flooded with, but she knew she didn't like it at all. Rachel was there to protect her should things get out of hand; she knew the woman had done it before, correct..?

She instantly stepped back when she had them off of the man, moving towards Rachel to simply stand near her, a hand to the hilt of her gun as per the usual stance. “The restraints have been removed, however I ask you remain calm and compliant for the remainder of the session or else I will be forced to replace them.” She doubted he would act out if it meant that again, but.. she couldn't be sure. Which was why another step in the midst of her speech had been taken back towards the sheriff for some security.

Vlad didnt move until Romane spoke to him. Slowly he brought his hands infront of him and rubbed his wrists gently. Seeing that he was free, only to confirm it with the verbal touch from his brain, Vlad let out a long slow breath of release. The haunted, look in his eyes faded to a calm gentle nature. His hazel gaze met Romane's was she stepping back away from him. He wasnt going to hurt her.. she was a woman.. he didnt hurt women. Emotional nutbag women aside and that was only in the sense of heartbreak.

"I think i can do that." Vlad said softly. "I hadnt mean to... act out like i did at the Cafe. Its just.. the cuffs.. remind me of being bound and helpless... " Vlad said softly his voice trailing off as his gaze dropped to the ground. "I cant really.. handle that feeling.... ever." Vlad said after a few moments of silence from him. It was true, he liked being i control, never out of it, mainly because of what had happened to him as a child. And now that was only amplified with the kidnapping and torture 2 years ago. Normally a person would have outlets that could help them heal and get over things like this...

But Vlad really didnt... not any.. normal outlets. When his main outlet was sleeping with others, became unable to be fullfilled because of his fear of being called a rapist or turning into one himself... it didnt make things easy. "You have questions, right? Thats why im in this room?" Vlad questioned, he had completely gone into another world when Romane slapped those cuffs on him. Pulling his legs up onto the chair he pulled his knees in close and hugged them. Too bad he was so lanky and tall, he couldnt make himself as small as he wanted to be right now.

..Better. Vladimir seemed more, well, aware of his surroundings now that he wasn't bound by the cuffs. He didn't make any sudden movements towards her when he looked to her, which calmed her mountains more than anything could. That combined with Rachel's presence and the feel of a hard gun beneath her fingertips helped sooth any worries she had – enough so that she could leave the blond's area and go to sit across from Vladimir instead. This was starting to seem much better than it was five minutes prior and, hopefully, she would be able to complete this without any difficulty – damn it! She frowned in the slightest as he went into the fetal position, another quick look sent to Rachel in hopes that she would have some kind of answer – but, the woman was only an observer. Romane again doubted just what she could do anyway. Honestly, it was like a part of her believed Rachel could do anything, however juvenile it sounded. Perhaps it was the title the woman had or just how close the pair had gotten over the years, but.. it couldn't excuse such an immature idea. She would have to continue to force herself not to notice Vladimir's continued pitiful behavior and continue just as steely as she would if she was dealing with someone like the fan culprit – or Jillian.

Correct.” She started as she set her hands firmly on the table over eachother, looking at him evenly from where she sat. She brushed off his apologies without a motion to show she even heard them – she had already forgiven him for it. Mere survival behavior, nothing more. All it did was make her uncomfortable and like hell if she would admit to that. “At the Hard Bean Cafe, precisely twenty-three minutes prior to our arrival at the police station, you confessed for a past crime. Would you care to repeat it in as close to your original wording as possible so that Sheriff Fate may hear it?” Maybe then the blond would understand why Romane had to drag him in.. She wasn't sure if the woman believed that it wasn't just another of Romane's hunches or not.

Oh. Thats why he was here. The panic had made him forget. Right he could do that. Vlad lowered one of his legs to let it dangle off the edge of the chair. The other one stayed up close to him and his hands just rested idly in his lap. "I had asked you why you were.. following me for the past two years. You said it was because you feared i would basically harm anyone who represented Mr. Enzo. I told you, you were right, because i would and i have done so in the past." Vlad said gently. "And then you took out the cuffs and... " Vlad stopped as he drew a blank. He shook his head and looked back to Romane.

"I assume you want me to elaborate on the situation? Do you mind if i smoke while i do?" Vlad said as he took out his thin cigars and lighter and lit one up, before putting the rest away. "When i was around the age of 8 myself.. and three other girls around that age were tortured, beaten and raped repeatedly, by the man that had adopted us. He was a Priest and his illegal wife kept us locked up tight when he wasnt around." Vlad said as his eyes dropped to the floor and quickly took on a dark haunted look.

"Long story short.." Vlad said as he exhaled a long puff of smoke into the air infront of him. ".... i couldnt take it anymore. I snapped, grabbed the nearest knife and stabbed the Preist to death while he was raping one of the girls. Then his wife came in on the scene... and i stabbed her too. I barely knew what i was doing until it was too late. All i can remember is the rage burning inside me and the wonderfull feeling of finally being able to do something about the hopeless situation we were in." Vlad said with a dark smirk spreading across his lips. "I then called Dante, my brother. He found me, having no previous knowledge of what was going on, and he helped me burn the place down, once i got the girls and ourselves out of there."

Vlad took a long drag on his cigarette and sighed lightly. "And ive been ******** up ever since. The kidnapping and torture Mr. Enzo did, only reminded me of those days. And now that im bigger.. well taller at least." Vlad smirked. "Your right.. if i saw Mr. Enzo i would murder the rapist ********. You know what the worse part about all of that was? It killed me more.. to see the others tortured, back then and two years ago. I wouldnt have cared if it was just me... but why hurt a woman? Or children? Or a man who had done nothing wrong?" Vlad said firmly before he jsut sat in silence and finished up his thin cigar.

..Ah, he got out of it.. It was much easier to watch him when he was more casual – less memories, guilt, and whatever other baggage decided to pile on at a simple thing like a position. Though, the tension in the air didn't drop at all with the shift – in fact, all it did was make her lose her focus on one thing and switch over to another thing. At least this one was more work-related; there were less emotions to really fog up her head as it began to work – for a short time. Once Vladimir started to smoke and truly begin on his story.. How could anyone not have their morals step in? She frowned as he carried on, but remained still throughout aside from that slight change in expression. Nothing more to give away or distract him from his story and, if she took the time to look at Rachel, she would have expected the same.

The story was grim, but on Nirvani? There were more than enough tales of this nature they were forced to hear out. Ah, but, here it was – the murder. She did take the chance to glance over at Rachel when it was said, checking her expression and reaction to it as if waiting for a cue. No gun was pulled, the blond's hands hadn't moved to her radio, and she didn't see any indication of her leaving. She looked back to Vladimir and carried on with the interrogation, “Where and when did this event occur, Mr. Tepes?” She didn't bother with answering any of his questions, keeping strictly on her own routine in the room. It wasn't the first time she had to question someone, after all, but most of the suspects weren't anyone she honestly knew.. Peg it to Romane not being too much of a socialite and working in a large city before Nirvani. But, she could detach herself well enough. Although she couldn't help wishing he was just another face on the street rather than anyone she had.. run in to on multiple occasions purely by coincidence.
