the balls are spun and the announcer picks the names. Girls first, then boys. She reads them:
Everleigh Ross Oro
May the odds be ever in your favor!

Oro stepped up, terrified. Never in a million years would he have thought it would be him! (Okay, he did have eight tesserae, but still. There were people with far more than that.) Maybe there would be a volunteer this year...No, no one but the wind. He looked at Everleigh. Please don't let me have to kill her, he thought. Not Ever. Please, not Ever...

(( Sorry, when I was going to post I got sick and then kicked off the computer, soo...)) Everleigh's too thin arms crossed over her stomach as she watched the names be picked. She bit her lip, hoping that if anyone got picked it would be her so someone else could live, but also hoping she wouldn't be picked. "Everleigh Ross!" Ever's brown eyes widened in suprised as she stepped up, her body like rubber. She looked at Oro and nodded as she bit her lip. The weak die first. Said a voice in her head, the voice of the peacekeeper who had killed her father. Well then, guess I'm gone. She thought, then continued to send a silent prayer that Oro would win.

Oro kept looking at her, waiting for the little speech to end. They had been friends, once, but never would be again. Only one could win. He wondered what would happen if it came down to just the two of them and thought back to last year's Games, trying to remember the "finale," as it was so euphemistically called. But all he could remember, as of any Games, were the terror of the Reaping and the awful fact that they were all forced to watch. At least Ever looked as scared as he did...that was a plus, though not surprising. She gave him a little nod, and he dipped his head in return. "May the odds be ever in your favor!" No, they will never be in my favor again, he thought, as the Peacekeepers neared. To the Justice Building they would go, and soon. (I hope you don't mind calling her Ever...it just seems like she wouldn't be called Everleigh, since it's long...)

"Well won't this be good?" Ever spoke aloud, earning a glare from the peacekeeper, which caused her to cringe. She didn't like getting yelled at. "Sorry. Just not looking forward to dying is all." She muttered as she crossed her arms. "And you?" She asked, looking at Oro.

It was good to know that someone, at least, was on Oro's side. "Course not," he told her. Lowering his voice even more, he muttered, "Dying for the Capitol. It's gonna suck."

"I'm not looking forward to it. But honestly other people have more to live for then I do, so I guess its kind of inevitable." Ever said back softly. While she was hardly giving up, she just couldn't imagine winning knowing that others had to die for it to happen. As they neared the Justice building Ever sighed. She was hardly looking forward to her final goodbyes.

"Don't talk like that," he said. But he knew exactly how she felt. He shuddered--visibly--at the thought of an arrow piercing her heart and knew that he just couldn't do it. He sighed. "But you're right, huh?" he said. Whoops--Peacekeeper marching him along was now shooting daggers with his eyes. Oro shut up as they were brought into the Justice Building. Not that it mattered...he was going to die anyway.

"I might be." Ever mumbled, mostly to herself, as she let out a heavy sigh and curiously watched him shiver before being shoved into the room she was supposed to say her final goodbyes in. She didn't though - she instead denied everyone. She wasn't ready yet, and it would just make it worse for her and them.
((And I guess its time for the capitol then? xD I'mma guess cause the training rooms and stuff are up.))
