Natalia walked over to the bread stand owned by the bakery. she looked at the different loafs an decided on the honey wheat. she handed the salesman a few coins.

Tali spotted a cinamon roll and pointed it out to the clerk-person. she set down more money and grabbed some napkins. she took the warm cinamon roll and ripped it in half. she handed one half to Shilo and nibbled on the other half.

"the odds are in our favor, even if our names do get picked. many kids are willing to risk their lives for glory. its sickening. thats why i always feel bad for those in other districts who no one hardly ever volunteers for." she said. then she looked at him and saw his face "dont worry about it, there are a million names in there, theres a small chance you'll get as far as getting picked."

Shilo says back to Talia then lookes her in the eyes."What would you do if I get picked?"He asked her.

Natalia thought about this for a moment. "you know we all think we would do something is a certain situation, but when it really happens, we could do something completely different." she started. "right now i think i would cry, and i would eventually, or i could be silent with shock. Maybe even faint." she took a shuddering breath. Dont make me think of that, Shilo, i would die if you got picked. she thought. she was afraid to say it out loud, though

Shilo smiles and hugs her gently."Thanks Nat."He wispers in her ear before letting go. At least she didn't ask me what I would do if she got picked. He thought to himself.

Nat hugged him back, then stared at her cinamon roll. she suddenly wasnt hungry any more. it seemed a waste to throw it away, so she aked for a bag and placed it in her basket instead. she sat back down next to Shilo and rested her head on his shoulder.
