Welcome! So you want to role-play, but are unsure of how to start, then this is the thread for you!
To begin with, we'll start with basic character introduction. In most campaigns (what us old school dungeon and dragoneers call a series of role-play sessions that comprise a single storyline created by the dungeon game master) the character introduction will usually take place at a bar. Therefore we're going with that tradition here.
Quote:
The tavern that you have entered is noisy, but not so that you can't hear a normal or even whispered conversation. There are three empty tables, one near the back wall, one near the center of the room, and one by the entrance, along with a few empty stools at the bar counter.
Attending to the different patrons is a slender red-haired woman, as you enter she catches your eye with her own bluish green and gives a friendly smile, "Come in! Come in! Sit anywhere you like and I'll be right with you!"

Now that you have the description of the area and have been prompted to interact with the environment, you now get to choose how your character will behave.
For instance, where will you sit, how will you sit, what do you order? Do you introduce yourself right away or do you quietly watch the people in the tavern before deciding to entrust them with your presence.
Think about it, and post! The first lesson has begun!
