Neoplatonism was, I believe, started by Plotinus. He was, as many people of his time were, a student of Plato. Many of the great neoplatonic works we can find are, however, written by Proclus. In the modern age, one of the great minds in neoplatonic thought is Professor Gregory MacIsaac. This Man was actually my own professor last year. He wrote the wikipedia article on neoplatonism. This is probably the only case wherein I would say that a wikipedia article has a good chance of being dependable.
In any case, I will provide a rough summary (to the best of my ability) on the subject of neoplatonism later on, however if anyone else here knows about neoplatonism or has any preconceived notions, I would love to hear them.
