On Choosing a Prince:
1. Although it is permittable for there to be multiple threads questing the same species of Prince, Maximilian only has enough DNA available per species for one growth, so keep this in mind if you were aiming for one of the species already owned.
2. If you're having trouble finding the perfect species for your Prince, try this website. It lets you search frogs by country and has lots of species and photos for you to view!
3. Keep in mind that the frogs will be converted to human stage with respective markings (things like how fat/streamlined the frog is won't have too much of an effect on the Prince so don't be afraid to pick fat species like Bullfrogs or "Pacman" frogs). Jet-black frogs will most likely look terrible on a human, so try to keep in mind "what will this Prince end up looking like?" when choosing a species.
4. We expect to see a lot of dart frogs. Although these are technically allowed.. we advise you against questing for them because it's a) really predictable and b) there are a million other really really unique frogs out there if you look hard enough! (Well, not to mention that they will be kind of POISONOUS so interaction with your Princes might prove a little.. uhm.. fatal...)
4. I don't think this should even need to be a rule because it's pretty obvious but only real species of frogs please. There are plenty to choose from, and if you're too lazy to browse around and dig your heels in to say that dart frogs are the only pretty ones out there, then you're obviously not looking very hard and you will not be rewarded for it. In addition, Max would not have the DNA of a mutated frog (since the nature of a mutated frog makes it weaker than the non-mutated one of its species) and wouldn't be likely to risk the one and only sample to alter the color, so don't start questing albino frogs and abnormally colored ones because it just won't happen. If you need an abnormal, mutant frog to have an interesting character, you can't be a very good roleplayer.
On Choosing your Character:
5. Try to have more than one RPC character and more than one Prince. Dju and Lil will immediately tell you if one of your characters will fit into the story better than any others you have (this is a place for critique after all), and the more characters you have to choose from, the more likely you'll earn a Prince of your own!
6. Information of intricacies of characters are available through a quick glance of the FAQ. These include special tidbits on what species your character can be, where they come from, and other things that might be related. In the same forum is a survey on the spread of male to female owners, so you might wanna check if we're having a male or female drought before you get set on a gender!
7. Please try to have realistic characters. In your profile, it's a good idea to store information like "Flaws" and "Virtues" because let's face it, nobody's perfect! Try not to create a Mary Sue/Gary Stu character--there are only so many characters we can have with their only flaws being clumsiness or forgetfulness before it starts to get obnoxious wink . Realistic characters with real flaws, real reactions and real emotions (remember, all your characters should have seen some of the war, it only paused about ten years ago!) will benefit you greatly in terms of character approval!
8. Please look at other character profiles and even some of the journals. We've gotten a lot of repeat occupations and they're all in the same feilds--Medicine (including drug dealers), science, fashion, and invention-maker of some sort. Be the one to stick out of the crowd! As an example (of what we've seen in this forum), some people are choosing to make their characters toy-makers, archaeologists, show dancers and even bakers. But with this in mind, make sure that their profession is current and needed in the 32nd Century in this setting (for instance, swimming coaches would be kinda redundant, since any open water is too cold to swin in anyways).
9. That being said, keep in mind that your character is living in 3113. More than a thousand years from now. That means, whether they're an inventor or not, they will be in daily contact with some futuristic product in the course of their day or even in their profession. You get bonus points for telling us what they are wink
Creating the Quest:
10. If you're stumped for structure, lilstalkerrr has kindly offered up her Quest as an example of the information you might want to include in your own! smile (Personal details are not compulsory, though, if you're afraid of giving them out)
11. Finally, as of 2/27, please lay out your master character information in the skeleton provided below. Older quest threads are not required to follow this format.
There is now a title standard so that the staff are not confused by titles! It goes like such:
[P] or [NP] Title [Crit?] or [U/C]
Please only use one [label] per pair!
Example:
[P] Kissy Kissy Kissy [Crit?]
This indicates that your character has been passed and your thread is finished and opened for critique wink
n.b. [P] means "Passed character" and [NP] means "Not passed". (And for the super-special, U/C means "under construction" ;D) This will make it easier to direct staff attention! Thank you for smoothing the process out for us!
