How much does a Prince cost?
The flat sale rate is 20k per Prince.
Can I get more than one?
Nope. One Prince per person. 1PPP.
Can me and my friend share one?
Nope. See the above rule.
Can I have one for free?
What do we look like, a charity? These are exclusive pets and as goes Maximilian's motto "nothing ever for free".
Are bribes allowed?
No. Yes. Well, it depends.
Is the story based in the Gaia world?
Not really, no, but the currency is in "Gold" anyways because it would be too confusing to create a new currency. That is the only thing taken from the Gaia world. Gold as a currency is equivalent to about the current US dollar, so you can understand what is a lot of money and what isn't. The story is based upon the happenings in the villiage of Saltaire, in Former England.
Can I make a character from any country I want then?
No, due to the current division of the world, only Allies of the MOTHERLAND have been allowed into Saltaire. Adelle is the only exception to this rule, do not ask to become another exception.
List of Accepted Countries! Ctrl+F to find them =)
Cuba Nicauragua Venezuela Guyana Chile Northern Ireland Ireland Former England Portugal Germany Estonia Latvia Lithuania Russia Belarus Poland Czech Republic Slovakia Ukraine Moldova Hungary Romania Slovenia Croatia Serbia Bosnia & Herzegovina Bulgaria Macedonia Albania Georgia Armenia Azerbaijan Syria Iraq Algeria Libya Egypt Mauritania Mali Senegal Guinea Burkina Faso Madagascar Kazakhstan Uzbekistan Kyrgyzstan Tajikistan Turkmenistan Afghanistan Mongolia China India Bangladesh Burma Laos Vietnam Cambodia Haikou Sri Lanka North Korea Sakhalin
What about their parents, can their parents be from just any country?
How do you expect that the mother would give birth to the child in enemy territory? Sneaking across borders just to give birth so that your character could be (for example) of French descent, but nevermind that they were born in enemy territory in Poland? Was the mother shot on sight and the baby dumped down a well? Because this is probably what would have happened. Don't try to complicate things, keep your character's heritage from those countries labeled on the map, if you please.
Okay so can I have a German raver punk rocker vegetarian vampire?
You shouldn't even need to ask this. Read the story, understand the plotline and the world you are living in. The only way one can earn a Prince (forgetting Bribe and Auction methods) is through displaying to us your skills as a roleplayer. This is usually shown with a sample, through a contest of some kind that relates to the world of Saltaire. (Speaking in terms of in-character-ness) Princes are very expensive. If your character is a street urchin, they will unlikely be able to afford the twenty-thousand gold "fee" that will help them bribe their way into getting a Prince, so make your character choices carefully. Reading documents in the Library section of the guild may help you get a feel for the World your character will live in.
Can I RP even if I don't have a Prince?
Yes, but these roleplays are strictly "unofficial". Information of your character/s belongs in the "Quests" subforum, along with information on your "Dream Prince". This is important: Unless you have a Prince, you are not allowed to post in the Journals subforum.
I wanna start playing this world straight away! Any steps I should take?
Firstly, set up a quest, so you can include all your character information for people to read over. Then, feel free to ask other questers or even actual owners (except Dju and King please) whether they'd like to start a roleplay with you. All of these roleplays would be conducted in "Towns" since they're not going to be based within the laboratory.
What is x*y and xy*?
Well simply put, xy are the sets of genes that your Prince posesses and the letter with the star next to it determines which one of those genes are dominant. Due to the unusual creation process, sometimes both mother and father are physically male, with one of those male's DNA inserted into an egg devoid of any gene information. It is in the pairing where there are two male "parents" that the y chromosome is dominant, otherwise, normally the x chromosome will be dominant.
What is the difference between an x*y Prince and an xy* Prince?
Maximilian's research has shown that x*y Princes are generally weaker, but more agile and slender, taking some of the more feminine traits from their mother such as a calm manner and heightened intelligence. The xy* Princes are generally the ones used for manual labor, heavy lifting, as their muscle growth is more advanced and prevalent but so too is their aggression and their intelligence levels are generally not as high as the x*y variety. Though this isn't to say that with the correct upbringing and nuturing, usual mentalities the Princes possess cannot be corrected or altered--there can always be exceptions stemming from how you raise them.
Does breeding between Princes have to be confined to certain genotypes?
No. All genotypes are compatible with each other, but sometimes the choices between breeding will lead to definite genotypes in the offspring. For example, x*y and x*y couplings will produce an x*y child. Couplings between an x*y and xy* will produce a rare xy genotype devoid of any particular dominant genes.
Can Princes breed with humans?
Currently, Princes cannot breed with humans because a homo sapien womb is incapable of providing the correct nutrients required for the foetus. If this union was ever possible, however, since romance between human and Prince is sometimes unavoidable, it could only be achieved with a female human participant.
Wait, if you're only allowed one Prince per person, who gets the baby?
This is the only exception to the rule, and the only exception to the joint ownership rule. This is why Maximilian is very hesitant to breed the Princes, and breeding happens in very rare circumstances, because he does not want to be embroiled in the middle of custody battles after he has grown them. What happens to the Prince afterward is solely both parents' (and perhaps even both Masters' ) responsibilities.
Can our Princes get repossessed?
Yes and no. If we don't see a Journal Entry or roleplay for more than three months, your Prince will automatically wander back to the lab where he will be cryogenically frozen. No fee would need to be paid to get him back but a roleplay with Maximilian would be required to unfreeze the Prince. Your Prince may also begin to become cold and indifferent to you every time you neglect it for this long (they do NOT like to be frozen), but that is the price you pay. Princes will not be forcibly re-homed.
When we get a Prince, they're ours forever then, right??
Do not have any delusions about this. If you have entered the contest fairly, presented your best standard of writing and continue to maintain a high-quality standard in your roleplays and journal entries, you deserve your Prince. If you, however, present to us skills in your contest entry that completely surpass the average standard of your roleplays once you're in the family, your Prince will be taken away and given to the runner-up. This is considered cheating to us and if we catch wind of it, your Prince will be given to the runner-up instead.
What if I can't take care of my Prince/don't want him anymore?
It's cryogenic freezing for him, if you chose to just abandon him. Alternatively, you can kill him yourself in a journal entry, but you won't be able to get another one after that.
