Alrighty then peoples. This is 4.0 Linear Campaign. (For those that do not know the difference between linear and non-linear refer to the main thread)
Version 3.5 versus Version 4.0
Now then the differences between 3.5 and 4.0:
4.0 has been dumbed down and is slightly less complicated along with the addition of several races and classes into the Players Handbook(s). Experienced players aren't too fond of it so far, but I believe it will be better and more fun for incoming players who've never played before.
It also has a somewhat different ability and feat system.
Joining into the 4.0 Experience
To better get the hang of making a character with 4.0 please access the demo of the WotC Character Builder. The demo will do everything the normal one will with the exception of more customizable items, and it only goes up to level 3.
Access the Download here
Also, since the demo only goes up to level 3 before then sometime I would like everyone (PC or DM) to somehow get access to the 4.0 books. (Players Handbook, Dm's Guide, Monster Manual, Players Handbook 2, in order of importance.)
Personally, I recommend Downloading them as eBooks via Torrent, Google or what have you. This is useful as they can be printed (have you the necessary paper and ink gonk ) are free ( smile ), and you'll have easy access to them while playing. I also recommend the "Martial Power" book.
Again the Torrent I accessed them is Here
I have personally had Norton Antivirus scan the folder and files and I'm sure it's safe. To Download you will need a torrent client such as Bittorrent (which I use) or Utorrent. Please feel free to contact me for instructions as it can get confusing.
Dungeon Masters
Now on to the topic of DMs, I would like at least 2 DMs to help me with this campaign as seeing how its a linear campaign it will be much more complex. DMs always end up doing at least a little more work then everyone else. As DMs I would prefer that you have access to all 4 4.0 Corebooks and cooperate with the other DMs.
Now then the way this will work is probably to divide up the map into sections and each take a section as the PCs enter it. As this is a linear campaign... It may be possible there is more than one party going at once. So I would ask that all DMs subscribe to their threads involving their section and check it regularly.
Also on topic of DMs, a new subforum once money is had, will be created for DM discussion. This will make it easier to plan ahead, switch out DMs, and the like.
Player Characters
Since this is linear you may want to join a party rather than start one as finding people can be a difficult task. I would prefer that every player character have access to BOTH players handbooks and preferably nothing else. I don't want no cheating. I'd like to keep parties to a maximum of six people, minimum 3. Keep in mind, more people=more difficulties/ distractions and more difficult encounters, but fewer people=...Fewer people.
TO EVERYONE:
If you're not willing to download the books via torrent or otherwise:
Feel free to contact me through Skype (Search for Admiral-Avocado (with or without the dash I don't really know) or Spencer Smith (I'm the one in Illinois because Smith is so common)) I should be able to send any of the corebooks through the Skype program without an issue.
Souls of the Abyss
We're a guild dedicated mainly to Dungeons and Dragon's based role play. We're looking for semi-literate role players and DM's.
