Help Our Guild Grow!

First of all, thank you for wanting to help! This is the first step in helping this guild to grow! The more people who want to help out the guild, the better!

Here are some easy things that you can do to help the guild!!
*Post, post, post! Make new topics and get people talking and discussing!
*Make your own contests! I will approve of any contest! I do not have the funds to offer 80 gazillion prizes, though I do what I can, any help with this would be greatly appreciative.
*Post daily...again the posting thing! biggrin
*Throughout the guild, I will be including surveys. These surveys will ask for your opinion on how the guild is doing and any other things you might like to see added to the guild. Please take the time to fill these out: they are very useful! Plus-ya get gold anyway! biggrin

Wanna take that extra step in helping the guild? Here's how you can!
*Advertise! Go to gaia's forum section, and click on gaia guilds, then registered guilds, to advertise! Or post a message about our guild in your signature!
*Donate. You can either donate straight to the guild (which will help develope the guild further) or you can donate to meesh_lynn, who will keep track of gold that will be used for contest prizes.
*Make a creative banner. (see creative banner thread)
*Invite your friends! Tell your friends about the guild by sending them a pm or profile comment!

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP!

Our History
On October 7, 2008 a small guild was started so that people from all over gaia could come together and discuss books. Soon after, the topic of writing was added to the guild. After much organizing and debate, more and more topics, threads, debates, and so on were added, including some of those you see today. We are now a guild that is based on both reading and writing, but also include many other special interests.

By August 1, 2009, it had been said many times that the guild was "unorganized" and that it was "hard to find your way around" and "many members don't participate." Attempts were made to fix this but down the line, it was known that a new guild should be created in order to have an organized, colorful, fun new atmosphere to enjoy. In the hopes that I have overcome those unorganized, beginning days of this guild, I have created a newly improved, well thought out, well organized, brand spanking new guild that has all the old threads that we sill know, love, and remember.

Click here to see The Museum, the site was still kept so that you may see what we once were, and join us in our "new day."

The following questions are for RETURNING MEMBERS ONLY (members who have been in A Written Word for a while, or who are joining from the original guild)

1. Using your experience with our original guild, please compare the layout, view, and general ease of finding your way around the new guild.

I find it slightly easier than the last guild. the sub-forums are catergorised and there are less sticky threads to scroll through which was a little confusing.

2. Is there anything from the old guild that you would like to see in this new version? Any other ideas?

There isn't anything I can think of that isn't already here.

3. Are you interested in helping out with any ideas?

I haven't really got any, but I'm quite occupied with my own guild anyway.

4. Rate how you feel overall about the new guild from 1 - 10?

8/10

5. Do you feel the guild has improved?

A little perhaps..though I'm not really sure..it's pretty much the same.

6. What are you interested in? What kinds of things, besides reading and writing, do you like to do in your free time? This can be ANYTHING.

Photography, art, video games..movies..debating..

7. Do you have any other thoughts, or comments?

not that I can think of right now, other than that I think the guild is really good because of it's discussions and thread topics and diversity.

Survey Results (Returning Member)

1. Using your experience with our original guild, please compare the layout, view, and general ease of finding your way around the new guild.
I like the new layout, it appears more organized. All the posts by the same people however make the guild appear small and unused at the moment.

2. Is there anything from the old guild that you would like to see in this new version? Any other ideas?
No. We carried basically everything over.

3. Are you interested in helping out with any ideas?
I've never really contibuted any ideas before, and I don't have any now, so I apoligize, but no.

4. Rate how you feel overall about the new guild from 1 - 10?
In comparision to the old guild, 6. By itself, 8.

5. Do you feel the guild has improved?
I do not, personally.

6. What are you interested in? What kinds of things, besides reading and writing, do you like to do in your free time? This can be ANYTHING.
I swim, play basketball, and do homework, but none of these I really find good discussion topics.

7. Do you have any other thoughts, or comments
Only thought I have is that we need to get people posting again. Fast. Activity is slow, especially for summer...

Something I've just thought of:

I miss the sub-forums that were aimed at Authors or particular books...it would be better to have sub-forums dedicated to talking about series of books or authors rather than scrolling through the main forum to find any threads that aren't general.
