SUMMARY:
The Sohma family is cursed. However, this is no ordinary family curse. When a member of the family is embraced by a person of the opposite gender, they transform into an animal of the Chinese Zodiac! The Sohma's managed to keep the curse private for generations, but when a young girl named Tohru Honda sumbled upon their secret, life at the Sohma house changed forever.



THE CAST OF MAIN CHARACTERS:

Tohru Honda

Her favorite Zodiac animal is the Cat, though the Cat was never officially included in the Zodiac.

A high school girl who was orphaned when her mother died less than a year earlier. She moved in with her grandfather and selfish other relatives, but was displaced for a few weeks due to remodeling. Since she can't stand the thought of making other people worry about her or putting out friends she decided to take to the wild, as it were, until the repairs on her grandfather's house were finished. Unfortunately, the land she's camping on isn't quite as unoccupied as she first thought.

Yuki Sohma~The Rat

His least favorite Zodiac animal is the Cat.

A quiet, yet very-dashing, young man who's managed to earn the title of Prince Yuki Sohma (not that he ever did anything to purposely gain the title or attention) amongst the female population at his high school. He and his cousin, Shigure, discover Honda's odd accomodations on their family land and give her a place to stay.

Shigure Sohma~The Dog

His favorite Zodiac animals are the Snake and the Dragon, though he can accept all of them.

A novelist of some calibur (as well as for sleezy romace novels on the side), Shigure's house becomes the primary focus of the story, when he invites Honda to stay. He makes her the housekeeper when she refuses to stay without paying him back. And though he has an unhealthy attraction to high school girls, he's never indecent with Tohru.

Kyo Sohma~The Cat

His least favorite Zodiac animal is the Rat.

The black sheep, er, orange cat of the Sohma family. He's hot tempered, loud and brash, pretty much the exact opposite of Yuki. In fact, he hates Yuki to the point where he spends a year training on a mountain top just so he can beat that "damn Rat!" He also happens to be shy and finds it very difficult to figure out how to react to other people, especially to other people who WANT to be his friend.

Hana and Uo

Tohru's best friends. One's a psychic and one's a Yankee and if anyone even thinks of messing with their cute little Tohru, they won't know what hit them.

The Rules
1. At the end of the month, whoever has the most Anime of the Month related posts will be given a special opportunity! (see Prizes for details)

2. Posts from this thread, the Fruits Basket discussion threads (anime AND manga dated December 1st or later) and the contest voting threads for last month will all be counted.

3. Everyone who uses one of the Anime of the Month banners in their Sigs for at least a week will be given an automatic 5 posts. (Make sure I am aware of it by telling me (in this thread) that you're using it.)

4. Crew is NOT excluded, but my original set up posts will be.

If you're wondering why the prizes seem light (THOUGH I DID DOUBLE THE PRIZES FOR THE LAST TWO MONTHS), it's 'cause all prize gold is coming out of my pocket and my pocket alone. Donations to the guild banker, Banker_Amaya, labeled "AoTM Contest Funds Donations" can really beef up the prizes for next month, but make sure to label them as such or the Captain might think it's a regular donation.
