Please discuss the Super Smash Brothers Conquest RP in this thread. SSBC Status: First Stages of Development -- No Release Date Set If this is your first time hearing about an SSB RP in this thread, visit the announcement for details. I will be keeping everyone up to date on what worlds are involved in the RP, but the characters that will become playable are a secret that I will reveal when the RP is released. And before you ask, yes, I'm still running my 'Holy Kingdom' DnD Campaign. First Poll! What type of character would you be? DISCUSS NOW!!!

You should make Paper Mario a playable character.

I would totally want to play Falco, just sounds like fun. Maybe Olimar, with my pikmin.

Your siggy's glitched, Vegas.
And yeah, I'll seriously consider that. There were some good Mushroom Kingdom characters exclusive to the Paper Mario series. 'Twould be hard to explain how the Paper world and the 3D world co-exist, but I'll figure something out if I agree to it.
Keep in mind that this game is in it's first stages of development. The first thing I gotta do is make final decisions on what worlds are involved, then discern which characters are heroes, which are villains, and which never show up to begin with. The more characters I allow, the more characters I have to work on with things like how much damage each move does, so that roughly translates to "More characters = Longer to Develop", and the more time I spend on Development, the longer it takes me to make the game ready to play.

I fixed the sig. And, I understand the development issue. If you want, as soon as you get far enough into the development process, I could make the Paper Mario world for you or something. We could even make it a collaborative effort.
Edit: Other suggestion. Each character doesn't necessarily need its own world does it? You could simply make core maps and worlds to play, even add more after you play a few of those.

ugh... to be honest, I don't know if Pikmin will make the cut. I never played the game and I know nothing of its storyline. If it gets enough fan support, though, I'll figure something out. But you have to consider some of the quality worlds that ARE making it in.
For example: There will be more than one Final Fantasy world in this RP. I'M NOT SAYING WHICH ONES YET!!! That's a secret to be revealed when the game's released. wink

Some characters are not getting their own world, this is true. But the world scheme is an important aspect of the backstory.
EDIT: Important gameplay mechanic. I'm very seriously considering letting each RPer control up to three characters on the condition that each character is situated in a different area of the core map. No one player controling every character from one world, for example. Not only would this promote fairness, but also make the story that the players develop all the richer, all the more fleshed out. smile

That's a good idea. Also, it makes it so that all those characters you create don't simply go to waste.

Another idea. To test out your system and everything, you could simply create the 12, or even just the starting 8 from the original Super Smash Brothers and beta test it with a few people. That would work out the bugs and issues with character stats, abilities and everything.

I MIGHT do that. But I won't be ready for that part until much later in the development scheme. Even so, it'd only be a few scenes, a few fights, and that'd be it.
Another concept: I'm not going to start the game with all the heroes unlocked. You'll meet some along the way. This'll help develop the story in-game. To counter this feature, you will not be required to select three characters upon joining. I may let everyone take only one character, then widen the permission as more characters are unlocked, or I may leave it up to each player. The limit, I think, will be three. MAYBE four if we have few players.

You know what? It would probably help if I looked through my Game Informer magazines for inspiration. Really might.
But then again, I really do have to play the games. How else will know what moves to assign, and how to make them balanced?
So, I'm sorry to say, no to GoW. And Halo... I would really like to not use it, but I can see myself saying that if it gets enough fanbase, I will... then get like 90 PMs and 325 emails screaming at me to add Halo to the list.
Ehhhh... I'll put off that decision 'til later. sweatdrop
