Lily

Difficulty: 2.5
Paper Type: Square
Sheets: 1
Cuts/Glue: No
Time: 5 minutes

Source: The World of Origami by Isao Honda

Instructions:

This model is very similar to the frog. You'll need to get to step 12 in the frog model to start off.

User Image

1. Up to step 12 in the frog model. The open end of the model (with the "legs") should be pointing towards you.
2a. Take the center flap that's pointing towards the top of the model and fold it so it points towards the bottom. Do this for the other three flaps. (There'll be one on the back and the other two that you'll have to book fold the model to get to.)
2b. See how the flap now points towards the "legs"?

3. Rotate the model so the legs are now pointing away from you.
4a. Do a book fold on the model. This involves taking a single flap on the left of the model and bringing it over to the right side, while doing the same thing on the bottom of the model.
4b. After the book fold. Make sure that your model still has its flaps distributed evenly between the left and right sides - there should be four for each side.

5. Take the top flap on the right side and fold the it so the edge between the right and bottom corners of the diamond lines up with the center crease of the diamond.
6. Do the same thing for the other side, as well as the six other flaps. You'll have to book fold the model a couple times to get to some of those flaps.
7. Take the loose flap at the top of the model and curl it using a pencil or other cylindrical object. This will become one of the four petals of your lily.

8. Do the same for the other three petals, and tadah! A beautiful lily. :3

Ah, so that's what it was! I should have looked around the forums a bit more before. x) This was one of the first models I did when I started getting into origami. The instructions you provided are much better than what I used, though.

These are very cute; if you put some green wire on the bottom, you can make an adorable little bouquet for a special occasion, or just decorating. (:

Yay! Someone likes my instructions! @_@ I learned this model a long time ago when I did origami with my mom. I remember we didn't have actual origami paper, so we'd take printer paper and draw patterns on it with markers to decorate it. xD;

Difficult-to-read instructions are the whole reason why I made this guild. I got so frustrated when I wasn't able to figure something out and there was no one to ask, which is why I require anyone who makes instructional threads to be available for consultation. xD

3nodding Your directions are better than the wide majority I've ever seen. When me and my friend attempted the giraffe, the diagrams skipped a couple steps, so we actually had to sit there for about an hour and a half going "WHATISTHISORIGAMIMAGIC?". It was pretty ridiculous. xD But, yes, picture directions are always easier to follow than those danged diagrams. =__=

And, also. Lulz. Did printer paper actually work well? Because that'd be a good way to practice, as well. Ghetto-gami. rofl

I always use printer paper to try a pattern out 1st time, because if i screw up my origami paper, i get SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO annoyed and moody for the rest of the day. My best friend Shona says " it's not like you to get so stressed about something so trivial!", but for me origami is serious! dramallama
